I know nothing about the band, but I play with my snare drum at the same angle, but a bit lower and further forward. The reason for me is that it allows me to have the snare in a low position so I can really lord over it. The tilt makes the stick impact more natural and comfortable- rather than coming down on a flat snare at a weird angle, for instance. It's hard to explain but basically, it's super comfy and looks cool as fuck.

@whospatrick because thats how he learned from his dad, plus thats the old school way of how to play a snare, hahaha i dont mean to give a drum lesson hahaha XD but the traditional way of holding a drum stick makes it hard to play a snare when its flat, so snare players (that had the harness on) played with the snare tilted forward to better fit the way they hold the drum stick, i hope that helped a little XD hahaha sorry for the long comment

@whospatrick mike's biggest drumming influence was from a jazz drummer names buddy rich. he's one of the greets drummers of all time. buddy was known for slightly tilting his snare forward. it's also all about comfort i till my snare forward cuz my arms are kind of long so it helps and feels more comfortable
