  • Loved playing this when i was a kid.

  • My favourite game ever, love this game.

  • @Otouto72 Yes Sir

  • I perfer Shinobi III but the music is the easily the best in the series. Yuzo rocks :D

  • i love that game so much i had it on the genesis but sold it when i got my sega cd i have the for game dick

  • Maybe one day you get it back. I love the music in this game. :)

  • Strangely Genesis games have always give me the feeling of having a dark atmosphere, at the opposite of the Snes ones that are "solar" ones (to me) ; that's probably because of the colour restrictions on the Genesis, and maybe the deep sounds that you were talking about (saying Genesis as better basses), or the fact that Sega was more "adult-oriented" due to its Arcade activity...Who knows ?

  • I never thought about the Genesis has darker themed than games the SNES. Good observation. :)

  • i feel bad about the sega genesis & snes..the reason .. i had a crush on the neogeoaes ...and my dad running a arcade buisness in my teens.. i felt the sega genesis & snes .. was for the kiddies.. and that the teens belonged in the arcades with the ladies,, my bad that was my state of mind back in the days.. and i missed alot off good games..but i am recovering thanks to the third member of daft punk narox you the gen!!lol

  • Wow thanks man. :D

  • I've totally never understood why this Shinobi entry is so hyped and regarded as better compared to Shinobi 3, seriously. Characters' animations are as stiff as a ramrod, and maniabilty is just as stiff (jumping from blocks to blocks especially is a nightmare). Whereas in Shinobi 3, animations are liquid, graphics are colorful and detailed, and maniability and gameplay are smooth and diversified (gotta love the dash/slash and the flying kick, among others !).

  • Shinobi 3 is great too. :)

  • Hell yes i love this game

  • I am glad. :)

  • Now this is an awesome classic! Love the music in it too. Great game, although for nolstalgia I still prefer the original Shinobi arcade game.

  • The music is the best part. Hmmm Shinobi arcade, I'll see if I can take a look at that.

  • This game is great all around (if memory serves me properly) but the music still holds up. The last levels with the water stages has some of my favorite game music.

  • That'd be awesome man, thanks! The original is one of my all time favourite arcade games.

  • i agree with you on that one .. i remember playing in the arcade and beating it .. those were the days.. enough said ...narox for pres!!!!

  • President of my channel that's as far as it goes. :)

  • just think about it??? ahhh never mind ..lol

  • That is some sweet music. I need to get the OST. Pronto! :)

  • Hello Maronatis, OST?

  • Yeah, sorry ;). I found some mp3's of the game music though. :)

  • There's some good remixed music of this game at ocremix.

  • Thanks, I'll check it out. :)

  • Thanks for the tips.

  • If you haven't passed this game yet, you've got to go back and try it. If there is anywhere you get stuck, just ask a question and I will help you out. The latter stages are epic and it is one of my favourite games on the Genesis.

I am looking for revision 1.00 of this game. In the original game, you have spiderman, Godzilla, Batman, and the Terminator. The version I have is revision is 1.01 where Batman is replaced by a wombat looking creature. Subsequent revisions occurred thereafter.

  • I am better at shmups though I finished many of the Genesis shmups.

  • including the recent Virtual Console release which contains a "pink" spider-man (thing was that the contract Marvel had with Sega expired many years ago, hence Spidey's "color change")

  • A pink spiderman? That would look a little weird. I associate the color pink with the pink panther.

I imagine now that Disney now owns Marvel will make negotiations with game designers even tougher.

Thanks for the info regarding The R of S release on the VC! :)

  • yeah, probably. i even heard some comic book fans being worried that with Disney owning Marvel, that many of their characters *cough*ThePunisher*cough* would be watered down.

  • Comment removed

  • Is there way to tell what revision a cart is from the title screen? I have revision 1.00, but I borrowed it from my best friend. I would check it, but it's buried somewhere in storage. I want to get my own copy.

  • Hi sidearmsalpha:

Apologies for my delay in responding to your question. I was on vacation to good ol' England and just got back today. With respect to the cartridge revisions, there is no way to physically discern one version from the other except to play the game itself. I am looking for version 1.00 myself and am hopeful that I will find one! It's one of my all time favourite games on any console! :)

  • Haha! Thanks for the dedication narox! When I logged onto youtube a few minutes ago and saw you post this video, I knew it had to do with our conversation yesterday. :)

There are two areas that some players will find extremely difficult. I believe it is stage 7, level 2 (jumping from dock to dock). There is one area that must be timed perfectly, otherwise the ocean will eat you up. The other stage is stage 8, level 2: you must go through the underground maze to the Neo Zeed stronghold

  • @segagenesis1989 Cheers Ninja Master

  • Such a classic.

  • Most definitely king tut.

  • Great video, I love this game need to go play it now. bye!

  • I am glad it's a five star from you man. XD

  • Great video Narox! One of the MD's best games by far and holds many memories for me, still havent managed to pick a mint copy up. The music is superb, 2:37 just brings back the memories for me! :-)

  • Probably hard to find a mint copy because this game is played so much by many.:)

  • Oh I absolutey love this game! Thats really cool the way you made the video! Keep it up man:D

  • Thanks Dawg bounty hunter.

  • go ninja go ninja go!

  • Go Kikaider go.

  • Now this game i played a lot when I was a kid. I still have my old cartridge of it. I also have the SEGA Classics Arcade Collection for the Sega CD and it contains Revenge of Shinobi.

  • I really like the music in this game, composed by the great Yuzo Koshiro.

  • Totally agree with you. Yuzo made some of the best music! I think Yuzo greatest work was Streets of Rage 2. He and Motohiro Kawashima were a great team on making those tunes.

  • How do you remember all the names. You must be a genius.

  • I wouldn't say genius. XD

I am just your average gamer that knows a lot of information about the games I play.

  • good decision to make a vid for this game!

i ask myself will Sega be able to make a new Shinobi-game on current consoles???

the PS2-games (Shinobi&Nightshade) weren't bad but that "feeling" wasn't present...

  • This may seem strange to some but I think the best part about this game is the music.

  • i love this game!

  • Me too! It's nostalgic for me because I played this one when it first came out.
