Acually, Windows NT stands for Network Terminal. It was only for Computers that were connected to a network or a workgroup. notice that there is no Home edition of this version. Neither was there a home edition for 2000. Xp is also NT,but it released in 3 editions,for convenience.

Windows Me was the last version of the Win 9x kernel. This was the last version of Windows to have an MS-DOS prompt. Windows ME booted up with DOS and then when Windows boots DOS terminates.
