I own both a 96 xj sport and an 03 tj sport, both have their ups and downs. I would rather take my xj huntin for the space and I would take my wrangler to the dunes. Don't get me wrong I love both!

so there was 1.78 cherokees to every wrangler so thats why they hold there value

the tire pressure has a lot to do with it also. Better for the rocks. if you look at the :02 the front wheels of wrangler, he bounced off. He had more pressure. He could have made it if his pressure was lowered
at 1:30 a.m i came across a truck fliped over in the middle of the road so i pulled over to help the driver and got my cherokee stuck in the ditch, four wheel drive dont mean nothin unless you have all-terain tires.
any 4x4 can get stuck.. just some easier then others.. plus its not so much your tire choice that would help you out.. rather your differential is locked or open plays a key roll.

You Yanks know nothing bout building 4x4. I had a standard Land Rover 90 and it wiped the floor of all these jacked up jeeps and cherokees with big mud tyres. So why dont you just get a Land Rover instead.
A. I'd have to bring an entire shop's worth of tools every where I go because Land Rovers break down backing out of a driveway, let alone on the trail.
B. Sorry, a stock anything doesn't do well on Moab. You either have the clearance or you drag and slam yourself into and over every obstacle. I'm guessing you've just never actually been offroad.

Sometimes I go off roading and there are people with their pathetic SUVs like the Mercedes ML. They know nothing about off road driving and think SUVs like that with many electronics, street tires, large wheels, without solid axles and low gears are build for hard terrain. Not later than they hit unpaved terrain, they learn how bad these SUVs are.

I have had 4 wranglers now all lifted and trail rigged. And im on my 2nd Cherokee for the trails. The cherokee only did that because of the longer wheel base. He had more leverage on the front end to distribute the power to climb the ledge. Either way Jeeps Kickass and i would love to see a ford try to do that LOL

don't have anything to an XJ in what form? stock for stock, a CJ or YJ has much better angles then an XJ, when you start getting into the modified territory, anything can happen.

True, but put it in this situation and the xj will win. The xj is going to flex better because of the coils in front and longer leafs in back. You are right about angles, though. I just feel as though the flex makes up for it. I did go to far in saying that they don't have "anything" on xj's. They are certainly a capable platform to build off of in the right situations, but around where I am xjs are better.

A. I'd have to bring an entire shop's worth of tools every where I go because Land Rovers break down backing out of a driveway, let alone on the trail.
B. Sorry, a stock anything doesn't do well on Moab. You either have the clearance or you drag and slam yourself into and over every obstacle. I'm guessing you've just never actually been offroad.

Funny that America banned Land Rover Defenders they reckoned they were unsafe, it was only because they would piss on all yank tripe and you boys loved that v8 we put in it.
And mine was stock it only had a couple of sliders on it and diff protectors. And I have been off road there is a bit of grass outside my house that a drive on!!!!

It wasn't banned. LR was just too damn lazy to install a second airbag! They bitched about side impact tests favoring unibodies. Suck it up, the Wrangler and every real pickup here are body on frame. LR simply dropped the ball because they knew they couldn't compete. The Defender is scheduled to be back here in 2013. Except now LR is INDIAN, hahaha! So who knows what the plans are now.
Meanwhile, the Jeep TJ sold nearly 950,000 copies in just shy of 10 years. My 2 TJ's have 260k miles combined.

LOL Defenders... Come on now I own a 1967 LR Series IIa completely stock. It out performs Defenders, Discos and Freelanders quite often. If you want to brag about LR than use one of the vehicles that can be bragged about.

2. yes land rovers are capable off roaders but a cheap part for them is the same price as a whole jeep and jeeps are just all around better, plus you can fix just about anything on a jeep with very basic tools and knowledge.

@JeepXJforever I`m Italian but agree. I drive a Jeep TJ, it`s a great vehicle and I wouldn`t trade it for a Land Rover Defender or Mercedes Benz G. Sometimes I go off roading and there are people with their pathetic SUVs like the Mercedes ML. They know nothing about off road driving and think SUVs like that with many electronics, street tires, large wheels, without solid axles and low gears are build for hard terrain. Not later than they hit unpaved terrain, they learn how bad these SUVs are.

@JeepXJforever Hey Buddy dont tar us all with the same brush. I drove land rovers for 10 years. My Dads had Range Rovers since 1972. I Got a JK Unlimited 3 years ago and never looked back. Bought a 1991 4.0 2 door xj 2 months ago too. Never goin back to Land Rover. JEEP There's only one.

@JKmanglerCRD I had a FJ and a Landrover, now I own a Jeep and I'm not going back. Great for many applications. Very reliable and parts are easy to work on. Doesn't cost an arm and a leg (expression)

countrys a side land rovers have a reputation that there as hard as nails but there not, you look in any magazine or on the web and there are shit loads of stronger,improved drive train parts for landys and they need them too. Im english but i agree XJ forever. XJ ARMY.

I have had 4 wranglers now all lifted and trail rigged. And im on my 2nd Cherokee for the trails. The cherokee only did that because of the longer wheel base. He had more leverage on the front end to distribute the power to climb the ledge. Either way Jeeps Kickass and i would love to see a ford try to do that LOL

don't have anything to an XJ in what form? stock for stock, a CJ or YJ has much better angles then an XJ, when you start getting into the modified territory, anything can happen.
put that XJ in a breakover situation and watch that YJ shine :).

True, but put it in this situation and the xj will win. The xj is going to flex better because of the coils in front and longer leafs in back. You are right about angles, though. I just feel as though the flex makes up for it. I did go to far in saying that they don't have "anything" on xj's. They are certainly a capable platform to build off of in the right situations, but around where I am xjs are better.
