No, Vargas represented ONLY Mexico in his entrances and in how he described himself. Oscar DLH was always proud of being American and he also celebrated his Mexican roots, which is different than what Vargas did. Vargas pretended to be a born and raised Mexican as his boxing image. I don't know Vargas personally, but his image as a loud mouthed, short tempered guy is actually not found in real Mexican boxers like JMM, JCC, Canelo Alvarez; Mexican boxers are actually humble outside the ring.

I was one of those "Oscar haters", I always rooted against him thinking he was just the trendy fighter who was cool to root for. Kinda like rooting for the Yankees or Cowboys. Oscar won me over with this fight. Can't think of any other fight I respect more than him.
