She was in fact not on the ground, implying she was skyward, and I saw that she was surrounded by what I thought was a good attempt at diamonds for a four-year-old. Julian was even kind enough to announce to his father that is was indeed "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds".

McCartney DID say the song was about acid. But WAS he the sole writer of the song? John came up with it, wrote a lot of the lyrics, and SANG it.

That's when he decided to write this song with the help of Paul. When they thought about the picture, what came to mind was a "magical world".
