  • Absolutely gorgeous!

  • I'm glad you like it. Isn't this a wonderful song!

  • hey this is great I am so borrowing this arrangement from you. it's my favorite Wes track.

  • est_il possible d'avoir une tablature ?

    thanks

  • It's really difficult to make out the initial chords. a TAB would be nice! :)

  • This is cool ...very nice playing ...I wonder what kind of Archtop are you playing with ?

thnx a lot for sharin !!!

  • molto molto bravo a me piace tantissimo questo brano

  • wow i really like your tone. really clean and you still have that great pop when playing higher pitches. what kind is it? beautiful tune btw

  • if you look and listen - don't try too hard to see where his fingers are but get the gist of it and rely principally on your ear you can sort it out pretty easily without tabs

  • Beautiful.

  • Just superb, and exactly what I need to hear right now. Thousands of thanks . . .

  • Good work.

  • Thank you so much for the camera angle. It makes it very easy to tab these out!

  • Would you mind sharing the TAB after doing so?

  • Hey, great arrangement, what type of guitar are you playing, btw I really liked the tone on "blues in the closet."

  • A really good question. I wouldn't know until I met recently a collector. It is a L49C from the 50ties. Cheers & long live Jazz, Pat

  • things such as these, i'd like a tab for.

  • good choice dude!

  • i will play it on my girlfriend

  • Love this song. The way I learnt it was from working it out as best as I could off the original "Groove Yard" vinyl, so it's a lot different but I like what you do! (and I might have to steal a change here or there!)

But that said, I am sure we're completely in total harmony (pun intended) when I say nobody does this one like Wes. He plays those chords with such ambient soul, it's as if he's just feeling it out and barely counting. The pentatonic run at the end of his solo is pure Wes, too!

  • Done! Thanks a lot for the insight o man of understanding!

    cheers,

    pat

  • I just wanna say one thing: Simply Thanks!!!

  • Thanks a lot. What better review could I get? Cheers, pat

  • Nice work. This is the essence of Jazz guitar. And the tone is great. Economy of means, i suppose - the guitar is amplified, but you can hear the acoustics of it. At 4:02 i remembered Wes. But you sound like... yourself, which is the goal of any mature musician, i would say. Keep it up. Excellent!

  • Hi Pat,

You sound so great and full.

    Keep up the good work.

What string gage do you use ?

    ALL THE BEST !!!

  • Sure! I'm using Daddario Chromes ECG26, 013-017-w026-w035-w045-w056. Cheers, Pat

  • hey thank you so much for posting this! i love chord melody and creating my own. The problem was that your version of this song was way to beautiful, i couldn't make my own. If you don't mind, i learned it from your video. I just had to. I absolutely love playing it. And don't worry, i never take credit for it :P.. Thanks again, beautiful work. Keep posting :)

    -Trevor

  • Thanks Trevor:) That's super encouraging:)

  • Thanks a lot fro the compliment:)

  • I wish I could get this stuff. I have ADD and dyslexia. Its so hard to remember all this. Your and awesome player. Great sound :)

  • This guitar is sounding great. Congratulations!

  • thanks a lot!

  • I just heard this song in "Royal Wedding" (Fred Astair& June Powell 1951)it brought back wonderful memories and you play it so beautifully...nice chords...nice melody! Thank you.

  • oh, thank you so much. i didn't konw that:) by the way; I made an aprenticeship for refurbishing and tuning pianos here in switzerland!

  • Beautiful. Learned a lot from it. Any chance of doing a video on improv and lines? Really "felt" the improv you used here.

  • sure, i learnt a great deal from ed bickert about lines like this:)

  • A sophiscated version of this song--absolutely perfect--I truly appreciate your rendition of this beautiful song. Practice does make perfect--please submit more. Thank you.

  • love the tone and the arragement, good job on the solo and mix, the loop sounded great, takes alittle practice to get to sound so well crafted

  • Beautiful playing and tone. I use the thumb most of the time but mine is more nail so my tone isnt as sweet. I have to compinsate to get the mellow sound. You are so inspiring, please keep playing.

  • Very warm.

  • This is immaculate! Could you tell me what guitar you are using?

Another question..Do you play with your thumb even during live playing??

    Thanks so much!

  • it's a l4c from the 50ties with added pickup and lost pickguard. yes i use the thumb at times. i notices that i have better time, i play more melodically and unison octaves come out better

  • compliments from italy.amazing player

  • Nice man,but I think it was Wes and Mel Rhyne on organ who recorded this ballad.

  • thanks, i corrected it:)

  • Cool man.Did you find that fingering for your A7+5#9 at 0031 easier to play than the alternatives for that same voicing.I like the shape at the 4th fret where the 2nd finger barres the C# and F and the pinky plays the C.That way you can nicely pivot onto the Bb for a A7+5b9 chord.Yours Joe Pass(only joking of course)

  • i put a diorio voicing in to give a little unusual sound if you are talking about bar 7 beat 3.

  • that is absolutely beautiful.

  • You bring out a very nice sound of your guitar. Good job!

  • Hi Pat,a really nice job here, enjoyed it a lot, nice "dry" jazz sound,a very nice harmonisation of a beautiful melody, and nice improvisation as well, hope we can keep on giving eachother inspiration through this wonderfull medium called Youtube, love your dedicated playing, keep up the good work,,you're a good player, greetings Victor.

  • well thanks:) allthough recently i started doubting a little bit if this all makes sense.

  • great feeling

  • hi, you're doing a great job here, melody chord is an art and your videos maybe inspiring for many people.

i like very much the tone you have, in the best jazz tradition. i'm curious about the guitar, that seems an es175 but the pickup is placed nearer to the neck (mellower tone!). it would be great to hear from you.

  • thanks. all you guys posts are so encouraging to me. I actually use an L4C. The pu was put lateron. cheers:)

  • Thanks for this one, very musical, tasteful, everything just right, keep up the great work, love your playing.

  • Very good sound, very beautiful.
