i would love if next year lexus makes the lfa awd, 600hp or more, 0-60 in no more then 3.2 seconds, 1/4 mile in the low 11s, high 10s, top speed of 220mph or more, the grip gets even better at like 1.05g, and the slalom at 76mph+, THEN.....this thing would be INSANE, it is insane right now but i dont really like the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times on it, even though the 0-60 is actually 3.4 seconds and 1/4 mile is like 11.4 i believe, i would like it to be even faster
this car is for you if you like handling,braking and drifting and handling and braking is what i mainly look at other than performance because performance is not really that much important in the supercar world for example you may get a fastest car in the world with 0-60 in 2.1 seconds but has the worst handling and braking ever.

@MrPTManning rollout is when you step on the accelerator but half way, and then step all the way. That lets the tires dig into the asphalt instead of hard accelerating(stepping all the way) at the start which could cause your wheels to spin.

@519Garage That just a bit of wobble, since the rear differential had unintentional yaw (yes, yaw is left to right) and moved the end back and forth a bit, and then the steering corrections also added a bit to that. The chassis on this is ultra-high strength carbon fiber. It takes a TON of pressure to bend it, much more that the car itself could create.
Tell me if you ever see a Lexus in any other country than the United States. Everywhere else in the world the exact same car will have a Toyota emblem on it. The Japanese know that us Americans are so superficial that we would rather drive a Lexus than a Toyota. It’s a Luxury EXport for United States (see what I did there, LEXUS)

Soon the Aventador will eat Nordschleife, the Germans are as good as, probably even better than the Japanese.
The Swedes have Koeniggsegg wich is good around the corners, but even better in a straight line. So there you have it

But in all honesty there is almost never ever going to be a time anywhere when 2 private owners will line these up on some straight, and give them the beans. However since the GT-R is quicker it will probably get anywhere it needs to go before the LFA can catch up on the top end. On a track the quicker car would win to... So in all real world normal situations the GT-R is faster. Just saying :)

Its probably the most gorgeous looking supercar ever made and thats coming from me a diehard owner of a GTR,im glad they made it RWD and it will improve because its Japanese and the second generation is always better.
For price though,you cant get better than a GTR but for overall looks and sound the LFA has it covered and id choose it over any other overpriced Euro or American Supercar.
Toyota obviously valued some intangibles over pure speed; evidenced by the DECISION to put the (somewhat) clunky, old school, automated gearbox instead of a dual-clutch unit, or even the slick 8-Speed Direct-Shift. This car is successful at what it aims to accomplish; combining uber-exclusivity and luxury with amazing performance, technology, and reliability.
Some of you are so ill-advised, its sickening. You honestly think it matters that the GTR or ZR1 is a few milliseconds faster here or there? This car wasn't engineered to be the fastest car on the road. It was built to be the best OVERALL super car on the market by showcasing an amazing chassis, unparalleled engine, and insanely effective brakes. The fact that the LFA (which IS beautiful both in and out and with an exhaust note like no other) costs the same as a new 700 HP Lamborghini Aventador - but is slower in all aspects to a '12 GT-R is an issue. Outside of performance - everything else is subjective.

The Carrera GT came out in 2004 not 2011. In 2004 3200lbs and 600hp was untouchable! The Ferarri Enzo does 0-60 in 3.2 and the 1/4 in 11.1 @ 132, still untouchable.
Some people make stupid comparison between cars that are 9 years older. In 2003 When the Ferrari Enzo came out 650hp was unheard of, so be intelligent and keep the comments within context. The Lexus sucks because it has 2003 supercar performance in 2012!

It doesn't have a unique character. For example the Murcielago has character, the SLR has character, the Carrera GT has character. The LFA's problem isn't the car, it's the brand. @519Garage That just a bit of wobble, since the rear differential had unintentional yaw (yes, yaw is left to right) and moved the end back and forth a bit, and then the steering corrections also added a bit to that. The chassis on this is ultra-high strength carbon fiber. It takes a TON of pressure to bend it, much more that the car itself could create.

Ask any racer, any REAL racer it doesnt matter if its an inch or a mile winnings winning LOL. Really though if you were to talk to any mechanic, engineer, tuner, etc in Japan its NOT about the horsepower on any vehicle they work on, build whatever it is about the harmony of speed, balance (suspension) and power. They would rather make a machine that is quick, well balanced with good horsepower numbers on a car that they know will last and not blow up just to get high HP numbers

But in all honesty there is almost never ever going to be a time anywhere when 2 private owners will line these up on some straight, and give them the beans. However since the GT-R is quicker it will probably get anywhere it needs to go before the LFA can catch up on the top end. On a track the quicker car would win to... So in all real world normal situations the GT-R is faster. Just saying :)

When you look at the Buggatti veyron its nothing on the track to a GTR or LFA but yet it has more power way more power but its not the fastest around track get your statement checked again. LFA out handles the GTR more Downforce more aero dynamics easy to say that a huge 4000lbs GTR can turn as good as a LFA

Its probably the most gorgeous looking supercar ever made and thats coming from me a diehard owner of a GTR,im glad they made it RWD and it will improve because its Japanese and the second generation is always better.
For price though,you cant get better than a GTR but for overall looks and sound the LFA has it covered and id choose it over any other overpriced Euro or American Supercar.

Some of you are so ill-advised, its sickening. You honestly think it matters that the GTR or ZR1 is a few milliseconds faster here or there? This car wasn't engineered to be the fastest car on the road. It was built to be the best OVERALL super car on the market by showcasing an amazing chassis, unparalleled engine, and insanely effective brakes. Combine that with an interior who's fit and finish is unrivaled at ANY price point, and the most important thing of all, Toyota reliability.

I do find it humourous that you feel you know what it is to own a truly special car and most importantly that performance is not the most important thing in an - um - performance car. The fact that the LFA (which IS beautiful both in and out and with an exhaust note like no other) costs the same as a new 700 HP Lamborghini Aventador - but is slower in all aspects to a '12 GT-R is an issue. Outside of performance - everything else is subjective.

The Lexus nameplate has no history or prestige to charge 375k. It is not a Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, TVR, Aston Martin, etc. Lexus is a nameplate for knock off Mercedes'!
Here is a list of 375-400K dollar cars that do perform and have history, 599GTO, Murcielago LP670 SV, Koenigsegg CCX, Aston Martin DBS, they will run that Lexus into the ground, where it belongs!

The S Class is a Mercedes, Lexus will NEVER get to that status. It's like Volvo, no matter how good the car people overlook it because of the name. If Toyota wants to make a super car they should bring back the Supra name like Nissan did with the GT-R not bring in the Lexus name. The Supra created a reputation for itself, people haven't forgotten. Toyota should use that to make a Supercar like the GT-R. Plus it HAS to be reasonably priced, otherwise the competition is better.

If you don't believe me look it up. No one ever said the ZR1 had class, the steering wheel is not from a cobalt so good one. It wasn't supposed to be luxurious. Its supposed to be brash, uncivilized and brutal, while still maintaining an everyday driveable nature. Which it did. Theres a reason its $110K...

The Carrera GT came out in 2004 not 2011. In 2004 3200lbs and 600hp was untouchable! The Ferarri Enzo does 0-60 in 3.2 and the 1/4 in 11.1 @ 132, still untouchable.
Some people make stupid comparison between cars that are 9 years older. In 2003 When the Ferrari Enzo came out 650hp was unheard of, so be intelligent and keep the comments within context. The Lexus sucks because it has 2003 supercar performance in 2012!

The price is UNJUSTIFIABLE, in the end it's a Lexus, I don't care how cool or fast or whatever. It's not that fast, it's not very cool and to be frank there's nothing "special" about it. It doesn't have a unique character. For example the Murcielago has character, the SLR has character, the Carrera GT has character. The LFA's problem isn't the car, it's the brand. Nobody wants a Lexus super car, Lexus is for boring people who want a reliable car which is quite and comfortable. It's DULL.

Also, it's pretty awkward cause the LFA was labeled a bargain compared to the Enzo. It also beat a Ferrari 599 and was ranked higher than a Lamborghini LP570-4 in a car of the year test. Sorry to burst your bubble, but the fact is that the engineers at Lambo and Maranello are probably shell shocked at the specs of this beast.

And yes, Lamborghini started out making tractors IN THE 40's and got mad that Enzo Ferrari dismissed his complaints, but has been making race cars ever since; you make points like a 8th grader. Lamborghini has been making race cars for over 40 years and hasn't made a tractor since. Lexus has no racing history and very little history at all.

They invented what we call a super car segment with the 1974 Miura; 1974, not 2011. My point is that prestige and heritage is why supercar companies like Bugatti, Ferrari, etc. can charge so much, because of lineage, in which Lexus has no lineage.
