  • Awesome video derek. I have followed all of your tuts on HOP and it's going quite nicely. I was wondering when I would actully see one of your burns

. Great control..How long have you been spinning?

  • This is amazing. You're really good at this! Lol, I'd so hurt myself.

  • Excellent! Very solid :)

    happy spinning!

  • Haha, welcome back bro. As usual, sick video minus the dropping one part =) I loved the UTL and BTB stuff, and the iso's look great. I personally would love to see some more flower/hybrid work but thats just me. My biggest critique was that it seemed like you used the same pendulum a little too often, it looked great...just a tad overused, but hey I do it too. Keep it up though!!!

  • I'm sorry if you've already answered this but what kind of heads are those. Fuckin' wicked spin dude, watching people like you is what keeps me going despite the numerous blows to the face.

  • @dane8802 very similar to isis heads, a friend of mine made them for me.

  • Comment removed

  • @Rammstein2720 Flat wick

  • @derekjf85 Ok mind giving me a little bit of info on them :) I was deciding to save up this winter to make those or Isis heads. Because Isis are only about $20 more to make

  • derek! wassup man. do u think u can throw together a tut for 1:42-1:45? if ya have time? :) idk just tryin to figure that out for awhile now!

  • @cyberspin99 I dont know about jedi.....yet. but thanks!

  • Hey Derek , on your video from 21-26 seconds what is that move called that your doing?

  • @JoshDohner That would be known as a triquetra, or a mercedes. I got a tut on it. Thanks for watching.

  • very smooth,,,

  • I'll trade you for your stallization.

  • Hey i love that turn transition u do from waistwrap into btb crosser. tell me a little more about it/

  • Hells yes i will. Have you learned my tutorial on the waistwrap 360. number 3?

  • o_O

very cool and smooth stuff man...

love your control and your timing, switching between fast and slow spinning!! ;D

    Keep up the great work

    Best wishes and much happiness^^

  • that iso turned backwards at 2:41 was off the chain. did those spirals burn all the hair off your hands or what is the deal

  • I may have burned a little hair. But no burns on the skin.

  • dude such poetry and what insperation to me. you are a true artist.

    -spinn on-

  • Awesome vid, as always. Amazed at your craft and handling. Also, what's the name of the track you used for this vid? It's way cool....

  • Sweet man. Your flow is beautiful.

  • I forgot to comment on this video earlier (when posted to HoP). Two things about your spinning are always delightful to watch: your mastery of btb moves, and your creamy isolations. I might like to see more footwork, but it's hard to tell from this video what your feet are doing.

Keep it rockin'! You continue to inspire my poi education!

  • Nice spinning sir, you taught me to do the BTB 5 beats, and since I got the hang of meltdowns I can now just about do those waist-wrap 3 beats :D

Inspirational as always ... one question... how do you keep them burning for so long???

  • Well they are brand new wicks. New wicks always burn longer. And the fuel I use is a blend of about 60% white gas, and 40% karosene. But i think the main reason is they are new.

  • 1:37-2:05 wow

Beautiful, I really want to learn that

    Absolutely beautiful

  • Thanks! Yes thats one of my personal favorties! Peace!

  • Also what is this song?

  • 2.15-2.22 please help!

  • split time opposites staggared stalls....will do a tut.

  • Thanks! You're literally the greatest help.

  • P.S

Great video btw i love everything about ur flow keep up the excellent work bro

  • what are the series of moves at 1:45 - 2:00 called. Any tips on how to begin learing them? been spinnin for a bout a year n i've always wanted to learn those thanks

  • Both are split time butterfly variations. The 1st one I would have to do a tutorial on. (Which isn't a problem) the other I already have a tutorial on. I believe its called split time butterfly wallplane flower. i'll send ya a link! thanks peace.

  • You need to make a tutorial for that string of stalls, I just can't wrap my head around it.

  • Hey, well done! What is the song that you are spinning to?

  • This is your best video to date!

    Great flow in this one.

From a spinners view it got a little repetitive with the bth pendulums, the btb weaves and the open arm up/down stall, but overall a great burn for any audience.

    5*

  • so i got that up down stall RIGHT after i read what u told me to do. thankss man.

  • Very nice, love it!

  • Wow man, so after watching this so many times, Im still blown away by it. Beautiful flow, has a graceful feeling to it. The pendulum stuff (while it got repeated quite a bit) is brilliant. Really dig the embellishment of all your movements, throwing in variations. The amount of control you have is tremendous. A tip I could give is work on the movement of your body a bit (something I have been focusing on lately). Over all,, wonderful job. 5*

  • Awesome feedback man! Thanks! I kinda think this whole routine is a bit repeatitive. I'm working on that. I think if i throw in a few more 'tech" tricks in there it will break that. I use pendulums mainly to switch from same to opposites. I think it looks better then just stalling one poi to switch between the 2. But i'll see if i can come up with some other variations. Thanks again. I always love it when people give me construtive criticism. Peace!

  • Maybe try throwing the pendulum weave instead of rotating the pendulum around your head. Or hybrids and such. As far as switching, you can always throw contact or floats in.

  • wow that was awesome

  • very impressive! keep up the great work!! :)

  • Perla....i love that name....it sounds sexy.

  • some lovely fluid spinning in ther

  • wuoo.. derek... very nice spin man... felicidades

  • DAMNN dude thats look so fucking nice :D!

    SICK :D!

    Gratz :))!!

    Greetings keep it up :D

    Divi

  • Very nice control man. You get a little repetitive but all in all good stuff dude:)

  • Yeah. thats a problem i've always had. I can't seem to break the habit.

  • another amazing video derek . keep it up

  • killer.

  • Very nice! You're moving around a bit, your flow is smooth, and you have a lot of variety. Maybe play with speeds? go fast, go slow, switch it up. Keep playing!!!!

  • Is it really hot when it wraps around your hand?

  • @Furriesaremine Not really. Its only wrapped so breifly i don't feel it. but sometimes i do get very small burns on my hand.

  • SO glad to see you back, ur vids are the main inspiration keeping me spinning. Keep up the awesome work man!

  • @1pinosos1 ugh. that btb stuff you do from btb crosser to waistwraps-i wish. you made so many beautiful patterns

  • @mindciller Thanks!

  • also. i cant figure out how to do that up/down stahl you do so well. any pointers?

also i have already watched this five times. haa

  • Yup. Start from a forwards weave and start to turn like you are going to reverse. and when you are in the neutral postions just spread your arms out. It should take you right into that stall. and thanks for the comments!

  • :16-:20-- love that a lot. clever combo!

    1:49-2:02 purely beautiful.

2:15-2:20-- thatss so bomb. i never see that!

Derek. how i have waited for this! you have gained so much precision since your one year video, which inspired me so much and this one just blows me away. i have you to thank for so much of my poi knowledge, i cant tell you how many hours ive spent watching your videos. thanks so much fo the shout out!- i cant wait to post something of mine for u to see!

    -tori

  • damn, to echo some above comments, clean is the best way to describe your spinning, those utl were sooo clean, im jealous

  • lol. UTL is something i lack practice on. Thanks bro.

  • Wow, very nice, and very, very clean.

  • amazing stuff mr =] i loved the entry to the btb crosser

nice combo at the 2min mark too...

think i need to brush up on some of my flow its been too cold to spin comfortably out side this winter =(

gratz for giving me the inspiration 5*

  • Very Nice

  • Its good to see you back spinning Derek! And this is the first time ive seen you with fire... some clean transitions and smooth lines PS- i loved seeing your little toddler playing poi in the house with you too!! Very cute, very funny!

  • excellent spinning man! Very clean!

    what kinda heads are those?

  • Thanks. They are some heads my friend made for me. Similar to isis.

  • Displaying precision there Derek!...and thats not only the poi tricks! its also the sound the flames made!! Sweet :0)

  • sweet video mate i look forward to the new video's

  • great!! amazing and clean spinning.. there are some really amazing combos... :)
