  • They built CP Humphreys so they could close down Youngsan in Seoul within the next few years. It's the next step for the US to turn over more military defense to the South Koreans. Funny how they left that part out... The army is downsizing and fast... they left that out too. Plus, South Korea's army is building. Their air force has just acquired a number of T-50 jets, their version of the F-16. The US is slowly turning things over to them. We don't want to be here forever.

  • Why are US bases in Korea?

    1. World domination (fact)

    2. Protect South Korea from North invasion (or prevent Korean reunion)

    3. Paralyze South Korea by convincing them that they have been protected so that South Korea will gradually lost their own ability to protect themselves. Hence, creating dependence.

    4. Inevitably, preventing possible Chinese influence to the east.

    5. Easy access to tight Asian prostitutes either with a fee or for free (not limited to rape)

    South Koreans, you're screwed.

  • @steamknife you're so wrong dude. I'm sorry you think that, I really am.

  • hey we leave u koreans will be part of north korea

  • The bases are there to stop comi scum

  • @IceSurfbumb comi scum is America after 911 ...

  • the south korean people are greatful

  • I'm tired of being told to feel bad about my country conquering other nations. Long live the United States. I hope i live to see some more nukes dropped on Asia.

  • @SmokeyCough Long live the American Empire. be proud.

  • @VanOstrum i know right

  • @SmokeyCough You will see your grand kids paying the debt that US owes... Over 14 Trillion with an "T" you owe...

  • @SmokeyCough Whatever dude. Try and repay your national debt before considering any ambitious plans. According to the mass corruption that US is facing right now, the debt will not be fixed even in 100 years. Your country is falling so sit tight because it's going to be a steep ride! I'll grab myself a pop corn and see you fall.

  • Right, I mean it's not as if South Korea is right next to a hostile nuclear armed power. Theres no reason for the US to be there. They'd be better off abandoning allies they've had for over 50 years.

  • redeljann -- I do not see Russian bases in North Korea I do not sea Russian bases in Vitenam , I do not see Russian bases in Serbia , I do not see Russian bases in Afganistan , I do not see Russian bases in Iran , I do not see Russian bases in Saudi arabia etc.

OOO poor USA they did not have a choice but to Open new bases in Romania and Bulgaria and Georgia recently. ooo Poor USA

  • brin3535 -- The happiest day for the world will be DESTRUCTION of USA ,

all wars and destruction is caused by USA

  • @aviomaster *ahem* If you read your history textbook, you'll see that US didnt want to get involve in most wars but needed to because of its allies. Just like how the Russians help N.Korea and vietnam. In korean war and vietnam war.

  • @redeljann *ahem* most history books are full of lies

  • Let's pull EVERY single American out of South Korea and wait to see what happens. I'll bet that in a month's time they'll be begging for us to come back. Hell, North Korea doesn't give a damn that we're there, if you pay attention to recent events you would know that. Just think about what they would do to South Korea if we were not there.

  • wow what a dumb question. we are there because 1 north Korea has the largest standing army in the world and 2 because the south Korean government wants us there.

  • so they want the US to protect them but they dont want military bases in their country?

if you want american troops to fight and die for you, you have to put up with their bullshit!

  • fucking conservatives (along with those democrats that voted for the war) for starting the iraq war

  • MrPhon1984 -- Russian Federation still posseses H-Bombs armed Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles.

Able to destroy every living thing in every city in USA above 100.000 people.

    Sleep WELL imperalist scum.

  • USA is the most hated country in the world.

and USA is on the way to create GLOBAL WAR -- called WW-III

with their evil policies .... and Than I hope all Russian Nuclear bombs land in USA. THAT would be happy day , a SUN raise for all residents of this EARTH.

and make that land North America radiation hunted waste land.

  • @aviomaster soviet union try that in the 60 and chicken out. and took all their nukes out of cuba. usa wont be destory if it gets destory be sure usa will take others down with them. look at thier economy it fell and the world suffer. yea let china help u NOT!

  • @aviomaster You're not very intelligent, are you? All I had to do was look at your channel to see that you live in America. Aren't you a truck driver for FED EX? If you hate it here so much why don't you just leave? Are you smart enough to accomplish that task? If WWIII ever happens (which I hope it doesn't) I hope one of those nukes lands right on your empty head. Go fuck yourself you piece of shit.

  • -- Russia and China should start building military bases outside their countries and kick USA out of Central ASIA.

  • yeah and this asshole dose not mention that the people who lost property paid big time .i talked to a farmer who was very happy with this.i dont know why my govt is there but as a soldier i was there to protect our friends in south Korea.as well as my Korean wifes family.

  • nice propaganda. We are there bcs we are asked to stay by the south Korean govt,we made a promise bto help defend against the north.and the people who hate us do so becuase they are deathly afraid of us.and that is unfortunate as the average american is very kind and freindly

  • The only reason S. Korea and N. Korea came to be was due post WWII events, the Soviets and U.S. forces went into Korea to defeat Japanese troops, with U.S. controlling the south and Soviets controlling the north. Due to the Government in Korea being basically dead, the U.S. established a democratic gov't in the south, while Soviets established communism in the North. U.S. presence in S. Korea just helps prevent a second Korean war, and relations are good! The U.S. should stay in S. Korea!

  • jaa dprk! unite korea!

  • Fuck the USA ....

    rot in Helll

GOD bless all Brave Iraqi and Afgani people who are fighting against USA.

  • @aviomaster go eat some pork camel fucker....oh and your mom is great in bed

  • Idiots we are not trying to take SK or Japan we are fucking protecting them from NK...

I swear even my lil sister knows that

  • I hate South Korea and want the US to pull ALL troops out of that country, cut ALL diplomatic and economic ties to South Korea and deport all Korean scum from the USA. It's a win-win situation for both countries. Come on we can do this!

  • The Korea was divided by foreign invaders parasites.

  • "Why are US bases in Korea?"

To DOMINATE the region. These american pigs are also invanding my country. No one like these US military shit

  • @apresesco fuck u from a soldier .

  • @ford46power shut up, terrorist oil thief.

  • Politicians make so much drama.

  • USA bases in Korea are there to keep tensions high for future WAR ,,,

USA is spending huge amounts on weapons ,

USA wants full world domination .

3800 years empires were striving for WORLD domination ,

in 3800 years none succeded to conquer the world .

Do you think USA will be first ?

  • @aviomaster wow dude you are really brain washed.we are trying to close most of our bases ,but a lot of the time the communities want us to stay becuase of the money we pour into the economy, south korea wants us there becuase it keeps the peace.90% of the koreans agree,if we leave they are in deep trouble.i would love to see korea united but that will take time and kim jeong ill is nuts.my personal reason for being in korea is to ensure the safety of my wifes family.

  • nice vids... us americans love to help.... two thumbs up

  • Man..It's all money. U.S. sells weapons and collects protection money from South Korea. I'm pretty sure S.K. can protect itself from N.K. Well..from China..that's another story.

  • What vested interest or threat would China see in SK if you don't mind me asking?

  • well if south korea gets in a fight with the north china wouldnt let south win cause they see north korea as a buffer zone to keep the ppl china thinks might become enemies a safe distance away but thats just my thought lol

  • What would happen if US left every base in the world? Most of the bases are there to prevent conflict and/or protection. Between all the conflicts Nk/SK,Japan/China,China/Taiwan and so on.

  • But there are no US base in china..

  • Obviously. Only countries that agree to the bases or lost a war.

  • Why are US bases in Korea?

make sure our force can control them.lol

  • Actually the South Korean Government are more than happy to have American troops based on its soil. They face a desperate North that any attack on the South will also be an attack on the Untied States.

  • ya.N Korea is hard to beat

  • it's not because DPRK is hard to beat. They are just threathening. Thousands of howitzers and STS missiles aiming at 10-million big Seoul, capital of ROK.

US army presence in ROK serves to prevent the war most effectively; if DPRK fires upon ROK and hurts US troops in ROK at all, that means DPRK just declared war on US, not only just ROK. That way US can be more directly involved in the war that would follow.

Most if not all US force in Pacific and Asia would march to Pyungyang then.

  • the last my opinion !

our earth enermy is environmental pollution!

maybe earth will die pollution !

    reason of exterminating dinosaur???

  • we have not choice !

    we will develop nuclear submarine

    can attack nuclear weapon system

and we wii die all people. at the same time you die

  • If U.S.A military not exist in S.korea and um... not keep balance

and we will develope nuclear weapon.

    china. japan. north korea. russia

our surrounding is all powerful nation

  • Yeah man Im american and I love South Korea and I support you all 1000%. If it was America who was bordering the North Koreans then our WHole mind set would be totally different and we probably would of been attack the north. But since we are All the way across the Ocean we are kind of less at ease and more hesitant with the situation because we fear that the north may overrun the your country. We need to prepare for a possible war with the north, we need to send thousands of troops to S.Korea.

  • that expert is so smug and annoying. and why does he chuckle to himself at 2:20 ?

  • I can't wait to see, when north korea atually do somthing stupid and piss everybody out, and finally get his ass kick, and finally the war against china star, wait to see, is gonna be a blast! I really think china is a big sessy, it's gonna be a blast!!!!

  • listen to Ron Paul about the Imperio.

  • ...isn't that violating S.Koreans sovereignty?

  • No because it claims its operating under UN command and plus the US has a SOFA with SK, making their bases their legal.

  • he actually makes sense.. about the nuclear deterrent part

  • 옌볜 조선족 자치주?

    북한 자치주한?

    한국 자치주한국?

  • I'm for good old fashioned isolationism. Korea is not our problem. We spend billions defending them. What do we get for it? More unemployment. they send their products to the US and ban ours from going to their country. we should pack up and leave.

  • too bad your very wrong, with US being allies they get lots of benefits and in fact without korea US would lose way more jobs. Korea has multinational corporations. they hyundai, kia, and world's largest ship building ran by daewoo and hyundai and it is said that there is such a demand koreas behind 10:1 because we build such good ships. Most of all Americans don't recognize Samsung is from korea, it dominates all electronics in north america and some parts around the world

  • Imagine how much money America could save if we close our military bases around the world and bring our troops. It would help the economy in abig way.We need our troops to protect the southern border from these drug cantels crossing over from Mexico. Besides these countries dont even want us there.

  • there is no point for the US to be in Japan

  • SK complaining about a US crimes? Don't these same people have their kids addicted to MMORPGS so bad that they kill each over being PWND online? LOL.

  • The fact that after all these years, the U.S. still does not apparently understand the Security Dilemma (i.e. the more military power you have, the more you encourage an arms race) is honestly pretty sad.

  • What. I guess Obama needs to pull them out right now or he is a war monger and everybody that voted for him is a war monger.

  • Ok lets pull out 100% in 30 days RNK will take over SK and that will be that.

  • Why don't the South Koreans build their own Army?

  • because i belive they tried that and we had to go fight in the korean conflict cause they sucked but just like iraq they do have a military its just not up to our standards

  • "up to our standards"

    is there any?

But they have a quite capable military power for quite a long time.

e.g. they sent a peak force of 50000 soldiers to the vietnam war and is the third largest contributor to coalition forces after USA and GB in Iraq.

It´s like US forces in Germany, which are completely unnecessary, too.

  • Good question.

  • The older Koreans that lived through the Korean War have a much better opinion of the US military then the younger generation.

I'm actually proud that we've protected South Korea all these years, and I'm very critical of our foreign affairs.

  • Google: "Cold War Revisionism"

  • Great info...you never hear this stuff in the mainstream media

  • Exactly. That's why we need to donate!

  • Wat if North korea and south korea becomes an alliance?

  • not likely

  • THIS cannot happen.

  • it could happen if USA leaves.. But north korea isnt going to speak any peace with USA there doing military trainings and showing their military might

  • A very good analysis of US foreign policy in Korea. Thanks.

  • horay for real news!

  • who thinks with all the shit that has been going on that theres going to be a ww3.

  • ooh yea America and NATO, vs Middle-East and parts of asia (china, north korea)

  • me

seems like all the fuses are being lit: Israel, Paki, NKorea.

    Which will blow first?

  • Hegemony!

  • Are you serious? The US needs to have a base in South Korea the North Koreans have thousands of guns & missles aimed at Soel the Korean capital, the North has since the 50s wanted to invade the south, I can understand why you would not want to support the Saudi/Israel lobbys constant drive for wars in the Mid East but this, noise pollution vs North Korean invasion, you are all nuts!

  • Corporate taxes pay for military. The federal reserve created Income taxes on labor to pay only the interest on the money the gov't borrows. Now our taxes don't cover even the interest so they want to raise them. Thieves!

  • Good point.

If you like to know more about korea then read Asian deadly Traingle.

  • ok thanks.

  • Read a book called Asia deadly triangle, it talks all about Korea China and Japanese energy and defense, I am sorry but I can't remeber the authors name.

  • Are you talking about the bailout under Bush or under President Obama? President Obama has laid out where the bailout money will go on a website whose address I can't remember at the moment. Would you like the address?

  • Another question: Why are there US troops in over 130 countries at a cost of more than 100% of all income tax collected on American incomes.

  • I am personally against the bases, but I'm not sure we have to withdraw from SK for humanitarian reasons. The SK government is effectively paying us to be there, and the populace isn't sending clear signals (according to the correspondent).

  • there is no proof of this at all. the government has clearly stated it's military budget, so we know exactly what they'll spend on the army. and america hasn't "collapsed"...i'm not even sure how anyone could think that. the media certainly doesn't tell us the truth, but you can't expect people to believe you if you're going to spout random claims w/o proof.

  • the US government are the most hated group of ppl on this planet lol

  • yeah, they need better PR :)

  • @BigZeb5 traitor

  • @BigZeb5 no just the one that side with china or russia the one that side with usa dont hate usa they love usa. look at usa ally all wealthy and live great. china ally? cambodia sudan burma all poor and people eat their kids to survive. north korea for example. north korea china south korea usa. south richer wealthier live better life.

  • Perish the jew world order!!

  • Very easy to answer: Because of Influence and Power!

  • Personally I would like to see ALL over seas bases dismantled and all US troops to stay on our own soil. Any country we have troops in right now should be pulled out and in replace for those troops arms deals should be made so countries can defend themselves. US is a free country not an empire. My only fear is that if we did pull out of S. Korea the north would invade, or if we pulled from East Europe the Russians would. But we can't let that fear stop us of from doing what is right.

  • And where in the "eastern" Europe there`s an American base? NATO is enough to prevent RF from messing around, that`s why they oppose Georgia and Ukraine to enter it.

In fact NATO is pointles, it was made to balance the Kremlin controlled "Warsaw Pact", which is dismissed since about 20 years.... with the developement of the common EU army, it will become even more pointles.

  • Actually miko I'm pretty sure we have bases in Georgia but they may have been taken down I'm not so sure. I agree with you, NATO is very pointless, but how can any of us convince to end decades of war mongering.

  • This is an interesting and informative story from a perspective rarely reported on. Still, it boils down to this: the South would not be able to defend themselves against the North without American help. Their quality of life depends on the US military presence and they know it. And why shouldn't the troops be well-trained? Why shouldn't their powerful presence be publicized to deter conflict?

  • Why are US bases in Korea?

Because it helps them to pump 100 billion U.S dollars into their economy, but at this point they may be self sufficient enough to reconsider the placements of ALL american bases.

We can be pretty sure though that as soon as the U.S. closes those bases people will complain that the United States is crashing the world economic structure.

  • Excellent Journalism!

  • Interesting topic considering North Korea just threatened war over their satellite. Also, all of the young Korean people that I have ever known, want the United States gone. All of the older Korean people that I have known that lived through the war recognize reality, because they remember. Its easy to get comfortable, and create fantasy much like (in my opinion) the people are blaming the US for all of the worlds problem

  • 4:38 Clinton can't recommend the people for calm resolve and determination, because they don't have the opportunity to assess things. The function of Clinton's contradictional sentence is to preserve the very fact that people don't have the right to resolve and determine policy. US government uses the mass media to tell nice stories to the public, that when they obey the elite, they are having the freedom and influence they want. Obeying is dressed as free initiative.

  • I LOVE USA~ THANKS YOU USA !

  • your welcome.

  • This guy broke the for and against occupation down really well, most news I see slant so much to one side i can hardly bare to watch the whole thing because i get a sense i'm not getting the whole story. nice work

  • Those girls were killed in June 2002, not 2003.

As an American living in Korea working as a copy editor, I see the range of emotion over US military occupation on a daily basis shift from hate to need to acceptance to nuisance. No doubt, it IS part of the American Empire, and it's an Empire I, as an American, want no part of! I will often find myself in heated discussions with Koreans over the Base issue, where Koreans are defending the Bases, and I'm telling them they are part of a big Empire

  • @bundangbear you have no clue do you.

  • The US empire has a long history of broken promises, unwarranted attacks, violent provocations, and lawlessness. North Korea is quite right to point out that these "exercises" are indeed exactly what the US denies: a dress rehersal for yet another US invasion. They are also correct in the deterrant effect that nuclear weapons play. If Iraq had had them, the US would not have invaded. As with other empires, it is the weak and disarmed that provide the best targets for profitable US aggression.

  • How do you explain then why NK wasn't invaded then for over 40 years when it didn't have a nuclear weapon? The US military itself has said nuclear weapons are no longer a deterrant, mainly because a nation is too afraid too use them when considering the fallout of its use.

  • First, the US DID invade NK. The US withdrew in the 50s and only because of the threat of China's army, which still obtains. NK fears a second attack, and is justified in so fearing. The US is quite adept at other forms of warfare apart from actual military action. Paramount in US tactics is to allow no independent (free from US control) development, disarm and otherwise strangle potential opponents (economically, diplomatically, militarily). Invasion is costly to empire, so will be avoided.

  • Ya um clearly you didn't get it that I was talking about how the US didn't invade North korea after the ceasefire was signed. Did I ever say NK wasn't justified in fearing another attack?

Chinese threat of backing NK in another korean war still exists but less likely.

  • So again explain too me why the US didn't invade NK after the ceasefire when it didn't have nuclear weapons, the chinese threat exists but the US was probably more then capable of taking on the chinese considering they were able to score victories that regained significant parts of south korea back before the ceasefire.

  • @FRTothus you really need to go back to school .north Korea invaded the south ,we were asked to help and then stay.you can ask my father inlaw he was there and lived through it.he was born and raised in Korea.get your history strait .

  • @ford46power From your spelling, it looks like you could do with some more school yourself. You have completely swallowed the imperial mythology. The South Korean/North Korean distinction is Western imposed. Your father-in-law is no authority, and is probably as misinformed as you accuse others of being on issues of peace and war and what Koreans think, as if Korean citizens' opinions matter to the empire's warlords, or as if the US was interested in "peace".

  • @FRTothus so i guess you know better than the Korean citizens .what do you base your facts on.I guess living through it and witnessing it happen is just not good enough.or is your mind so clouded with hate you would believe anything that fuels your hatred of the USA. Im so sick of your self important kind with you agendas and im never wrong attitude, and if you will excuse me i will take the word of the old Korean people who saw it happen.not the rumor you base facts on.

  • @ford46power Yeah, I guess I do, basing my view as I do on history and research, as well as on the willingness of empire's dupes to think well of themselves while they further corporate interests, delude themselves that they are "keeping the peace" or are there "because they want us to be" fairy-tales, but you will just go ahead and believe you are fighting for freedom, that you are the only one who loves their country, or whatever other lies and illusions that help you live with your delusions.

  • @ford46power oh wow i looked at your profile wow did not realize i was dealing with a conspiracy nut case kinda like arguing with the mentally handicapped i suppose the USA invented aids, and that the Jews were treated great during WW2. hahaha sorry cant take you seriously now.

  • The Zionists jews stole trillions of dollars out of american tax payers during eight years of bush. I hope zionists rot in hell. For eight years, they were closing the factories, companies, and moving them to east asia, and receiving tax cuts from bush. And then they were returning those products back to united states and sell them hundred times more. I hope they get sued big time for their crimes although their powerful LOBBY WILL NOT PERMIT JUSTICE

  • Soon we will not have the jobs to provide the money to buy their products that they are now making over seas. They wonder now why we are not buying cars. They need to wake up to what they have created.

  • everything this guy says is true. i know from personal experience. my favorite example is the pilot who dropped a 500lb bomb on a winnebago because he was evidently unable to distinguish civilian land from the bombing range. fortunately the owner of said recreational vehicle was in town on his motorcycle at the time...........the entire idea of maintaining this empire while our own citizenry suffers is insanity at its highest level.

  • Because it's part of the US empire.

  • Yes, the phrase "all your base are belong to us" now takes on a completely new meaning to me.

  • We should remove our troops and bases from foreign land. It will save us a lot of money in taxes and America will regain respect around the world. I mean, how would we feel if Russia, France and Italy had troops and bases in America? We wouldnt like it so much, eh?

  • Dont be fooled into thinking that the taxpayer bailouts were just designed to get the banks lending money again. The situation is much more perilous. Losses continue to be revealed, and Americas banking system is all but bankrupt—kept alive only through taxpayer blood.

  • Very true...China virtually owns us...

  • RELAX... the banking system is not bankrupt.. most of the so called toxic assets are being paid one way or another.. the reason they are in trouble has to do with their ability to raise capital to maintain their reserve funds which determines how much they can lend.. normally they would raise capital through stock but the price is in the crapper.. most banks are still generating a profit, its the investment firms who are taking the brunt of the downturn

  • @toyracers, why should the taxpayers be forced to buy the stock that shareholders don't want? The shareholders should be allowed to have their way with the banks. If they suspend the mark to market rule, the banks would've been solvent a LONG time ago. Instead we have this TARP thing and the banks still are not lending. The investment firms knew exactly what they were getting into. Don't insult their intellegence.

  • because we are involved in a symbiotic relationship. The only investment Firm that was helped was Bear sterns and they still went under..

i really come down to lack of regulation, as long as people are making money, they are not going to blow the whistle on anything

i dont think they suspended Mark to market.. probably because you still have to asses the values of the securities portfolios and cover the margins (because they are going to be loses).. it would bring America to square one

  • they wouldn't lose margins because if they suspended mark to market, it would recognize the value before it dropped. The losses they can write off over time.

The point I was trying to emphasize was making the banks solvent asap instead of forcing taxpayers to push the values up through TARP. The banks are blowing the bailouts, they're not even lending. M2M suspension was a better idea.

Whose making money in this market anyways, besides a few day traders?

  • I agree with you but if we moved all American soldiers back to the USA - either they have to stay in the military or there are no jobs - all production is basically done outside of the USA- we can't build a pair of affordable jeans in the USA as it has all been offshored. The USA has become a do nothing nation.

  • @peepnklown,

doesn't South Korea pay the U.S. for their help? In Peacetime, the U.S. spends less than 5% of the budget on operations, which would include these bases.

btw. for all of the stuff the GI's get blamed for, i can think of civilians that were busted pulling a lot of shit. The military helped people in Asia, c'mon. Do you think our military doctors ever denied them care? Did thye not provide aid?

If I can recall, a lot of foreigners bitch about our tourists for our arrogance.
