  • Right before he removed his glasses to wipe his eyes, I thought to myself, "How many pipers come to the edge of losing their composure when they fill the air with those haunting tunes?" It must not be too uncommon.

  • @crazycelt89 I think he's just wiping sweat. I'm sure there are pipers somewhere who get close to losing focus from emotion but I doubt it's Bruce Gandy- he's played this tune and plenty of other laments in his lifetime.

  • It dosent get any better than this, and the resonance from the walls is epic.

  • i found this via a link on the oregon live news source. beautiful playing. the story was touching. I'm not so good with words. it was fitting and beautiful.

  • superb!

  • "When i leave this world behind me, to another i will go,

and if there are no pipes in heaven,

    i will going down below".

Mark Knopfler (Piper to the end)

    That`s haunting. I´m speechless!

  • Perfect. Pitch, tune, pathos. ...wants for nothing. Thank you.

  • "Before two notes of the theme were played, Colin knew it was Patrick Mor MacCrimmon's 'Lament For The Children'...'It's a hard tune, that' said Old Angus. Hard on the piper; hard on them all; hard on the world."

    Neil Gunn, "Butcher's Broom"
