  • special-people-seem-drawn-to-this-song-i-love-them-all

  • ccr cover best ever....

  • EJA

  • What comes out of this is that Nina Simone an Screamin Jay Hawkins set the bar!

Van obviously couldn't improve on it and remains faithful to Nina.

    Hawkins version is beautiful!!

It is a pretty special song that people like Sonique, Marylin Manson ,Eric Burdon adore.

Manson's is interesting as it is a homage to Hawkins.

  • THEM....with Van Morrison!!!GREAT COVER!!

  • I wish the Doors had covered this mumber...

  • has a good old fashion charm to it. also like the marilyn manson one. theyre both good in their own way

  • Joe Cocker and Eric Clapton's version is good too.

  • MUSIC THAT COMES IN A eroded by so intensely, that I am fully anesthetized

  • Credence Clearwater Revival did the best ever version of " I Put A Spell On You ". But, then, they could friggin' rock. And its not to say that this Van Morrison version isn't very bluesy, and so on.

  • The Sax (and effect) is fresh and gives the song a very good interpretation.

  • i am the 420 like!!

  • Look at how many GREAT singers have done this song! The mark of a truly great song.

  • One of my favorite songs. I had a Them album on vinyl that used to belong to a radio station

  • Very good version, Screamin' Jay Hawkins' is the BEST!!!!!!

  • Nice rendition, but I agree nobody ever outdid the Screamin' Jay Hawkins version from the 50s. It sounds like the rantings of of someone on the very edge of sanity, downright scary!

  • Can anyone tell me on wich album I can find this version of the song?

  • @AngieTheGreen The Story Of Them featuring Van Morrison

  • @AndyGMusic Thank you for the answer! :)

  • ESTE NO ES VAN MORRISON

  • @AngieTheGreen Them again 1966. Lots of fantastic tracks !

  • אוהבת מאוד ,

  • veddy good i lyke

  • Nice version, but the "best ever?" Have you heard the original by Screaming Jay Hawkins? Have you heard Nina Simone's(the one that Van is liberally borrowing from)? I think even "Van the Man" would tell you he can't top those two versions.

  • @richhayseed makes no difference VAN THE MAN makes it HIS!!!!!!

  • @richhayseed

my favotie is by the Crazy World of Arthur Brown (1968)

  • Differant than CCR:s but good

  • superrrrrr super

  • it is a vibraphone

  • Thats great,,, so atmospheric,,

  • sexxy.....

  • This is probably the best of the original version that I've heard. However, I first heard Bette Midler's version in "Hocus Pocus" and I'll always prefer that one.

  • Is that a xylophone I hear?

  • ακολουθεί την εκτέλεση του Ray Charls. Εξίσου καλός.

  • this also is very good tami marietta ga

  • i got loads of favourites song but this one has got to be my all time fav. i don't believe how great this version is. so intense, so wow wow wow

  • :o) muy bueno simple...

  • excellent

  • Best version of Put a Spell on you ever. Moody sexy and brilliant.

  • @crystalclear999

Well put! This belongs on the soundtrack of some Film Noir for sure. Never knew he recorded this.

Good God, is there nothing Van can't do? Rock, blues, gospel, jazz, country, Irish folk. . . the Man can do all those and slay the competition.

  • What an amazing musician Van is!

  • Great!

  • This is the best version !

  • I love this version,Van is definately The Man.

  • @gio73vanna he sure is.
