  • I watched Ray Combs on the Family Feud for years. I liked Ray--he was fast, and a little smart alec but not too much I was shocked when I learned of his death. I think it's a tragedy. Rest in peace Ray.

  • That face at 1:10 is probably a summary of the guy's life right there.

  • I met Ray a couple of times. A great guy, funny, likable, personable. His family should be proed despite what nitwits on these boards say.

  • Ray Combs+Epic=World Laughter My friend said if Ray Combs was alive and lived where wE LIVED we would visist him EVERYDAY

  • I'd killed myself too if my last name was...: COMBS!!!

  • ray combs was one of the creepiest guys in the history of television.

  • Mr. Combs was simply a great and entertaining host, especially of Family Feud. Thank God for YouTube so we can see him at his best

  • @violentjett U R A COWARD!!!!

  • @ninjagoy123 U R A FUCKTARD!!!!

  • AMEN to that we still love you Ray. My favorite Family Feud host.

  • something a bricklayer uses: BRICKS!!!!!

The best place to people-watch: the mall

    A Kind of fly: firefly

something mother's and daughters fight over: this stumped me but boyfriend was good

Something that should be built to last: A house

  • That second family member looked like he was losing on purpose.

Something a bricklayer uses and you can't even think of 'brick'???

  • This is so sad. I liked both, Richard Dawson and Ray Combs. I don't understand why they ever got rid of Ray. He was always so cute and cheery. Family Feud is one of my favorite game shows. Always loved watching it... Missed him not being on there.

  • R.I.P. Ray...You were a

    Class act...

  • Ray Combs was a gentleman and deserved better...Rest in Peace Ray...

  • "I thought I was a loser ,but then you walked up here" I love it.

  • How surreal is it to hear him tell the last contestant "This could be the first time someone get zero points on this...and I think it'd be a d*** fine way to go out." R.I.P.

  • They did a story on Game Show Hosts Now and Then today - didn't include Ray, but he was one of my favorites, and I was sad when I heard he passed away.

  • Best host of Family Feud ever!!!! RIP Ray

  • I was Once a great Ray Combs fan, but after hearing what he did to himself disgusts me. That sick fuck needed help.

  • @poiuytrewq1030 He some mental issues to deal with, but I don't think the derogatory statements are necessary.

  • Ray was the best host of this, when i think "survey says!" i think ray combs, maybe thats stupid but its an iconic phrase :) at least i think so

  • I also agree w/ MuttwithaPedigree. I've seen so much venom spewed at people who comment on YouTube and it makes me not want to watch YouTube.

  • Ray Combs and Richard Dawson were my favorite hosts of Family Feud. RIP, Ray. You were the man!

  • Ray was the best host Family Feud ever had!

  • We love you, Ray. We're sorry about what happened. RIP

  • ok the second guy was so dumb

  • @San94Andreas Uh...why?

  • @joejacky33 tourettes guy, had to say it

  • RAY COMBS WAS FROM MY HOMETOWN:

    HAMILTON OHIO,

  • It's such a shame Ray's no longer with us... he was such a fine entertainer.

  • Combs > Dawson. End of discussion.

  • WAIT...Do we know WHY Ray walked off the set?? Could it be he was too emotional or knew he might be too emotional or too angry to handle things? Hell, maybe he had to throw up. Let's not just ASSUME he did it in anger.

  • Epic fail no points

  • Ray landed a gig on Family Challenge. He had seemed shaken over the breakup of his marriage.

  • Combs was put in a rehab clinic.

  • Im wondering, Why does Rey Combs say "See ya Next Time"?

  • @Bond23d

Because this was RAY'S finale, not the SERIES finale. I believe Ray knew Richard Dawson would be hosting the show next season.

  • @Drumrdude1973 he had done stand up on late night television for years and had worked with Carson for over a decade, idiot

  • @bphutchins -

"Idiot??" Fuck you, bitch!! ...and why the fuck bother to capitalize "Carson" or put a comma between "decade" and "idiot" without capitalizing the beginning of your statement, or punctuating the end of it??? ""IDIOT!!!""

  • @Drumrdude1973 ah, the punctuation police, the last resort of those with nothing to say. I punctuate as I see fit, there isn't rhyme or reason to it. Drumrdude1973, aka idiot, aka I was in a band in high school and I"m almost 40! I wanna rock! ROCK!

  • @bphutchins -

Well... my sophisticated friend, as much as it'll bum you out to know, I've played with several major label artists... such as Natalie Merchant, Maria McKee, John Elafante, and I've toured the Western U.S. with Michael Sweet. Haven't done much since '99 'cause I went and got myself strung out on methamphetamine. I'll be back in the swing of things by this same time next year... and I'll be sure to keep you posted, Mr. B.P. Hutchins....

  • Sadly, Ray's finale couldn't be as memorable as Richard Dawson's.

  • My condolences for the tragedy of Ray Combs, but the guy was the worst game show host to date! the dude never managed to develop any finesse, or pace... much less, finesse! He always seemed to be in a hurry, and the show always felt rushed....

  • @Drumrdude1973 Sir, I totally disagree. The show SHOULD feel rushed: it adds excitement. I always felt that Richard Dawson, although suave and fatherly, had the charm of an undertaker. If this career didn't work for Ray, I could picture him as a Preacher. He had serious intensity. But then I don't watch TV except on YouTube, so what do I know? Rest in Peace, Ray. You are fondly remembered. (Check out Ray's debut on Johnny Carson's Tonight Show.)

  • R.I.P. Ray Combs. I'm such a big fan.

  • Oh, yeah. Class act.

  • people say that when Ray Combs hosted ratings dropped. I have no idea why they would say that!! He was a real talented guy!!

  • I was never a Dawson fan i was a Combs fan when he was still around now im missing ray already i wanted 2 meet him badly :(

  • I think that this was the beginning of the end for poor ol' Ray. A car crash, pending divorce, even a failed comeback. So sad to have heard of his untimely death. The officer who was interviewed mispronounced his last name as Coombs.

  • I wasn't around for the Richard Dawson era, so I grew up with Ray Combs and the Family Feud. It should have ended after Ray instead of using host after host after host. Not many will ever experience the pain he had, both physical and emotional. May he rest peacefully now that his journey has ended.

  • LMAO what a great way to go out,by having a contestant that got 0 points

  • I love the video you see it is Christmas night 2010. and Ray was my brother so to all of you who has had bad things to say I would really appreciate it if you would keep that crap to yourself because i know you may not think so but we as his family do look at these boards from time to time and he does have children. So the old saying says it all if you don't have anything nice to say do not say anything at all. Thank you from Ray's youngest sister Toni Combs

  • @kittycat321430 so sorry for your loss.

  • @kittycat321430 When i was little i watched Family Feud and your brother was one of my favorite hosts and i was breaking down in tears in 1996 when Ray was killed and my mom had 2 cheer me up :(

  • @kittycat321430 hey Toni, not much of a tv watcher. But I can safely write that Ray did a great job as host of The Feud. Talented guy overwhelmed with a ton of crap. Most of the people commenting on here are insensitive children.....don't sweat it.

  • @kittycat321430 you're profile says that you're 18 years old. that would make a difference of over 50 years between you, yeah right.

  • @kittycat321430 I met your brother when I was 8, I was even in his house. I live here in Hamilton and he was a cool guy

  • @kittycat321430 Sorry I didn't see you message sooner. I can't even begin to imagine what you have gone through over the years. I really only have watched Ray through youtube videos but he was a very good host. I hope that you and your family and his children will eventually have peace in this matter and I for one do not condone the negative comments about him.

  • @kittycat321430 I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but unless your profile is wrong, it says that you are 18. Unless you are his niece or his child, he would've been in his late 30's when you were born so you can't be his sister.

  • @idolfreak7 i am 18 my mom was on my profile so hop off, my mom is his sister

  • @kittycat321430 Sorry, I didn't know that.

  • @kittycat321430 I was a kid when he was on and I always liked him and watching this brings back good memories. Very sad what happened. And you're absolutely right, people are so desensitized and don't realize that there are actually people that are affected by all tragedies and they feel like they can joke about it because they are so far away that it almost feels fake. May he rest in peace. And god bless your family.

  • @kittycat321430 Just to let you know, I thought Ray was not only the best Family Fued host, but also the best game show host ever. He had so much energy, wit and humour. The show hasn't recovered since his era! A true legend.

My favorite phase of Ray, "Bullseye!!!!"

  • @kittycat321430 your brother was a funny guy.

  • @kittycat321430 Ray Combs was pretty chill.

So wow, all of your nieces and nephews are older than you. How's that happen?

  • @kittycat321430 I agree totaly, your bro was my favorite Family Feud host. I was saddened when he was et go and cried when I found out he commited suicide, he seemed like a very nice guy and was a great host R.I.P Ray

  • @kittycat321430 I can't tell you how sorry I feel about your brother. I'll always remember watching him on the Feud growing up. I actually HATE Dawson. This means, I actually thought he was the original. He is to me. If you ask me those motherfucking douchebags who fired your poor brother outta be charged for manslaughter. In other news, I'm writing a personal story in his memory. It's a story where there's no hardships but laughter and dancing and Ray is hosting it. RAY ROX EVEN NOW!

  • lol dude could of at least taken his family with him

  • I recall a televised interview with Ray Combs in which he was crying, "I MADE FEUD BIGGER THAN IT DID WITH DAWSON, AND THEY PAID ME BACK BY FIRING ME!!!" which made it feel very disturbing to watch a game show emcee like Combs break down in tears after being forced to leave Family Feud. And this is all Jonathon Goodson's fault. CURSE YOU JONATHON!!!

  • you have to admit richard dawson was a better host. he had that thing they call 'it'

louie anderson had it too -- even though he looks like cartman and likes to pay men to fuck him.

john o'hurley or the boss guy from seinfeld. and neither did any of these faggots since dawson. richard dawson was fucking badass.

  • Combs was the best ever host of Family Feud. Bar none....

  • @mightydyckerson wow why the anger?

  • Feel sorry for him. His life went down the shithole really fast and he couldn't take it anymore

  • Comment removed

  • @seige184 you are a horrible person, how could you ever say such a thing....

  • Comment removed

  • @seige184 Survey says: You're an asshole!

  • Comment removed

  • @seige184 Lets look at the board! Survey says: you're a pussy! Thanks for playin the Feud! Now go home and rub that clit!

  • Comment removed

  • @seige184 Now now that's not very nice of you. We'll let it go because you've been such a good contestant! Here's your consolation prize: you get to eat Richard Dawsons' asshole!

  • @dkthg Fuck ya!

  • @seige184 You've been wonderful seige! Thanks for playin our game! Goodnight and godbless..........you fuckin faggot.

  • @seige184 By saying that about another human being that is not around to defend himself, you are the real loser. Physically, Ray Combs did not hurt you, he did not hurt me, he hurt no one but himself

  • I liked Ray Combs better than Dawson too, and I grew up on Dawson. Combs was enthusiastic and funny, but not fake like a lot of the more recent hosts. Louise Anderson was horrible, Richard Karn was dull as shit, and John O'Hurley was totally out of place in that job. Now they have Steve Harvey.......ugh. He will do a crappy job for sure. I never liked that guy or his shows.

  • @TargetRender I'd say Steve Harvey is trying to incorporate his style into Feud but it's clear he doesn't fit at all. At least all the other hosts acted like they wanted to be there and were having fun in the process. I still feel sorry for Ray here. =(

  • "Dad, I heard he killed himself. "

"I would to if my last name was COMBS!"

  • I feel so sorry for Ray after this show. His life spirled out of control so fast & ended in tragedy. R.I.P. Ray Combs. He & John Lennon both lived the exact same number of days. Creepy.

  • @HBKanedge818 and both were voices for their generation

  • According to Sources Once Ray Combs signed off he Left the Stage and Never Came Back, If you watched this video you can even see him leaving from behind the Families, Ray was informed by Telephone that Richard Dawson was Replacing him b/c of Downed Ratings. Ray being Replaced and Fired from Family Feud is what led to the His Life going downhill. The E! True Hollywood Story on Family Feud Explains it all Hopefully somebody downloaded the Entire Segment on Youtube.

  • God please grant him mercy, he didn't understand what he did.

  • Man it sucks that such a great host had that horrible of a finale. They had 3 questions where they even gave an answer. Wow.

  • I liked Ray Combs' hosting more than Dawson's - mainly because Dawson's constant kissing of the female contestants could be seen as sexual harassment to today's generation of viewers, whereas Ray Combs was more clean except for his rude exit off the set. It seemed as if Combs' Feud got low ratings on GSN because many viewers probably had no respect for or a desire to watch a host who hung himself and left his kids fatherless. But regardless, he did a great job, IMO. Shame he hung himself. :(

  • @JonSea31

Jackass, how could the viewers have been turned off by an event that hadn't yet occurred?

  • Comment removed

  • @catholicpriest1 It's not too late to change your mind.

  • Best Family Feud host.

  • Gotta hand it to the families, they did the big kiss on que without him. Too bad about Ray though, when the light at the end of the tunnel goes out you just want relief.

  • Brick layers lay Bricks!!! DUH!! Both families were LOSERS. I would have walked off too.

  • If you'll be in the San Diego area call 619-223-2101! Back to Gray!

  • why did combs just walk off at the end?

  • the 2nd guy resembles francis ng (hong kong actor)! RIP ray combs, truly a joy to watch and made the show so exciting.

  • RIP to the homie Ray Combz, keep ya head up son

  • Apparently after Ray walked off stage at 3:55, he walked straight out of the studio and left without talking to anyone

  • "Something that is built to last" - kind of ominous last fast money question for Ray's final show

  • Honestly, it's hard to tell who was better, him or Dawson. Dawson had a more subtle sense of humor, and he always kissed the women. But Ray Combs had the sense of humor that was more direct, and could always crack people up. Depends on who you thought was better

  • You can tell he's upset about it.. He says "mothers and fathers" instead of "mothers and daughters".. Then he repeats the "Where do you go people watching" question even though that's one of the ones he answered.. Then the "I thought I was a loser until you walked up here".. And then obviously him walking off the set at the end.

  • "yur gonna get $5 a point, you might have to write us a check.'' LOLLLL. Ray had new jokes every show and i GUARUNTEE at 3:22 that kiss was 100% real...after his end, he really mustve enjoyed that bomb.

  • Geez, that second guy was fucking fail.

  • dude just split

  • I loved Ray Combs' Family Feud, probably more so than Richard Dawson's. I was more than sorry to hear that Combs killed himself. What a waste!

  • Ray Combs was murdered by bill collectors!

  • Sad

  • Ray Combs was a pure positive energy RIP

  • Since he was departing, did he also get some ice tea?

  • Now, that's pretty funny!

  • @terryprideaux Ray would've loved that joke.

  • @terryprideaux do you mean departing like dying or departing like he left the set?

  • @supernightmaren2 Either way it's pretty funny.. I mean tragic. Whoops D:

  • I thought this was a great demonstration of Ray's natural ability to create improv humor. I loved it!

  • I consider Ray's Family Feud one of the all-time best revivals (this includes Jeopardy! tPiR, and Match Game. Combs's got it right. And he was just the host to do it. May he Rest In Peace.

  • I like that. He just walks off into the sunset to commit suicide later in life. Kind of telling of him. Turns, and gets the hell out of there.

  • "What do mothers and father...er daughters fight about?" Interesting of him to say this, since a lot of his personal hardship involved his wife. I'm sure it was on his mind at the time.

  • I don't understand how the hell they got rid of Ray Combs he was the best host of FF ever. He was so quick witted and hilarious. Although he abruptly left the show at the end, I still think he handled his last show well. He still was funny and I can understand why he was upset. I mean he still had to do a job knowing that he was being fired. Ray Combs was the best

  • He was let go because ratings were slipping. CBS had cancelled the daytime version the year prior and Jonathan Goodson felt they had to do something to increase the ratings. Ratings went up when Richard Dawson returned, but because the O.J. Simpson trial kept pre-empting the show, this version was cancelled in 1995.

  • You can kind of see some family members looking lost, wondering if Ray would be coming back perhaps? And the trademark "wave" at the end was definitely improvised to make up for the missing host.

  • Poor guy.

  • Ray Combs commited suicide.

    R.I.P

  • Richard Karn. Worst FF Host EVER.

  • I Am A Game Show Junkie, and Out Of EVERY Game Show Host Ever, Ray Combs is MY FAVOURITE GAME SHOW HOST EVER!!

    R.I.P.

  • Ray was always funny on the show and a good host following in the footsteps of Dawson.

  • combs was kind of mean in that episode... his life must have been already pretty bad.

  • As Richard would say, How the hell did they get on the show?

  • A better way to boost ratings would have been to get rid of the bulls-eye round,

  • Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they add the Bullseye Round to the FF not too long after Mark Goodson's death? I heard that they decided to bring back Richard Dawson because they feared that they wouldn't get renewed the way their ratings were going. They were probably fine before. I guess Jonathon Goodson didn't believe in the saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." RIP, Ray.

  • wow what a horrible fast money rd, why the fuck did they pick that guy to play

  • Poor man.

  • Ray Combs was beloved. It's just that so many things went wrong in his life at the end. It should not have happened. Somebody should have been there for him. And having SIX children taken away from you does not help. Why did his wife ask for a divorce? Was he "bad" in real life?

  • According to the E! Hollywood story, he initiated the divorce.

  • Yes, it was a big mistake that producers made a decision to replace Ray Combs with the return of original host, Richard Dawson. Dawson's return failed and was canceled.

  • Dawn's return actually was a huge success and ratings improved. What killed the show was the OJ trial....because it aired during the day the show was often not shown. When it did it appear, ratings were low and the show was cancelled. If you look at the ratings between Dawson's review and the OJ trail, they were higher than Ray's final years.

  • He was just eager to get the hell outta there.

  • "Good way to go out"....? That planned?

  • Johnathon Goodson literally murdered Ray Combs. The poor guy was in freefall mode after he was canned.

  • Yeah, and he admitted it might have been his fault that Ray Combs went down the toilet on the E! True Hollywood Story.

  • @KOHF34 Jon Goodson did not "literally" murder Ray Combs. If he "literally" murdered him, there Goodson would have been put on trial for murder. You literally misused the word literally.

  • @monaco74 Too bad you took my comment out of context. Do some research.

  • @KOHF34 That's the point, I did NOT take it out of context, you USED it out of context. I don't need to research Combs' suicide for that.

  • @KOHF34 Yeah his businesses failed,he had a car accident to where he couldn't work for a while, and the other shows he hosted didn't catch on plus his wife dumped him.He had too many bad things happen to him all at once!!!

  • very sad ending to a great game show host...this is the last time i remember combs was mentioned until his death. If he was still alive and popular as he was 15 years ago, i guaranteed he'd be the host of either the Price is Right, Millionare or Wheel of Fortune at this point and time; perhaps all 3. RIP

  • Ray later hosted another game show on some cable channel after the Feud.

  • Great Job Tim!

  • You see the family look at Ray's walkout in bewilderment.

  • Ray's final goodbye sounded a bit blunt and harsh, then he stormed off the stage as if he could say "F*** the Feud, I'm outta here."

Not to mention Ray Combs was likely in a real life family feud during the two years to come.

  • "see you next time..."

  • the ONLY host I have ever known for Family Feud . R.I.P Ray Combs

  • Ray Combs was my cousin. :/ RIP. <3

  • ray was like, fuck this im out.

  • Why did they run the numbers for potential contestants on the final show?

  • Because the Feud was going to continue. But with Richard Dawson returning as host to replace Ray.

  • They were coming back. Ray, on the other hand, wasn't.

  • I think this is why they upped the time limit by the time Richard returned.

  • ain't depression a bitch?

  • big time error Truck should have been the #1 answer along with Car

  • Comment removed

  • they were robed but it too late now way too late now they would have been a 2nd chance for them on todays game they call it a judes error and play agin on another day O well
