I have a '68 El Camino, not an SS, 350 Small Block Chevy motor out of a 80's year model truck, your El Camino looks identical to mine. The paint is half black and grey, but who cares what the body looks like. Ask for pics, and I'll send one. Keep in contact sir. What state are you located at? Do you use your El Camino for drag strip? We are not going to make ours street legal, takes more work, we are going to run open headers, no inspection stickers ect. We are located near Houston, TX.

haha i aint either man. im tryin to say from expierence i know what a 11.5 car looks like and that aint one qaurantee it. that aint enough cam nor enough intake to feed an 11.5 motor. i got a full roller cast iron headed 406 sbc pumpin out 463 horse in a 69 firebird. on a good day test an tune day ill run 11.98's to 12 flats. with a lil bit of tire spin and wheel hop

I agree to an extent, only because of the weight. I mean the old GM's are heavy, my 1/2 ton 73 C10 weighs almost 8. With a 305, and headers, I ran a 18.2 first pass, 18.5 second, and an 18.2 again on 3rd pass.

I have upgraded to a late 60's 350, with full exhaust, MSD ignition, and a nice double pumper. I am curious now.

Never scaled it. Mine is a 73, LWB 350/350. Its the "Heavy Half Ton", it has a big 12 bolt rear, 8 leaves on each side. ETC.

The sticker on the door says 7 something.

Nice build. This should be essential viewing for anyone considering an ultra long duration camshaft for street use because a magazine describes it as 'relatively' mild but still streetable. Those cammed dyno queens pump out the ponies but it's funny how often they 'forget' to show the torque curve below 3000 RPM! This, on the other hand, has plenty of bottom-mid end grunt, a sharp throttle response, and enough at the top to boot!

no...its a fiberglass hood i made and just threw it on so i could drive it. It was beforei had it supported stiffer and i had the stock steel hood's springs holding it up so all the weight was over the front

and i just put a new carb on there. its now a 650 holley double pumper. $450

just the eagle stroker bottom end kit was 1500 then the heads were performer RPM aluminum (1200) and the cam kit was 300. then theres seals, machine shop charges for the bore, rod clearance, main line bore, baking and media blasting and all of that fun stuff. Then theres the alternator ignition fuel pump stronger rear end and gears rebuild the trans. Its a lot of work and you might be able to get away with $6000 if you do it yourself or maybe $12000 if you get it done at a performance shop.

the orig. motor was a 350 but someone dropped in a 427 when they were racing it. It threw a rod and he sold it to me and I bought a 350 block from a 76 vette from my friend bored stroked cammed and replaced every part there is.
