I really wish all this would stop. Of course it will stop one day.. when the forest is gone. When there is nothing left of the forest, only then people will start realise this was a big mistake. well if your economy is one like the US, the amount of acreage for forests has increased. The amount of acres in 1920 to 2000 has increased by 15 million acres. So if we switch to a capitalist world, we will have more trees.

@relarerfhjk Actually if you know about economics then you know that a key componant to that (and capitalism) is stable economic growth and to do that you need to achieve a sustainable policy of economic growth which lasts generations, so if we cannot find alternatives to cutting down trees for resources we will lose that sustainable policy when the trees run out and it will cause the economy to go through increasing periods of boom and bust leading to high inflation and unemployment.

Your right in that's how it normally works, but it's not that these trees don't have seeds that grow into new trees its the soil is of such poor quality. The only reason why the trees have grown as big as they have is due to their own leaves falling off and the nutrients from the fallen leaves being absorbed. So with the trees gone, the soil quality is even worse and it will take longer for the trees to regrow.
i.e. if there was not trees. then there would be no humans. because we breathe what they exhale. and they breathe what we exhale.
if you want to get spiritual in the matter. the human race is one(as we are all related) and nature is one (trees). so i supose you could say humans and trees are soul mates.

@specialk18701 I appreciate that survival and comfort is important for us (humans). I myself have a great life, compared to those in poorer countries. The problem is when people just cut down and dont bother to replant or in the case of the Amazon, it takes years to regrow a lot longer than it would in the UK.

I don't get the connection between the dams and the flooding, It rains alot there thats obviously why it's called a rainforest. And there are rivers there so when it rains heavilily it could easyily flood during the rainy season. I don't think it's the Dams causing the flooding, Or am I wrong? Please reply :D
@TheStrangeBanana You are right that there is a lot of rain fall in the rainforest, but it is normally absorbed by the trees (unless the trees are cut down). The areas behind the dams are normally located at the bottom of basins, which once the rain water is in it, is too much for the trees to absorb and remains there until released from the dam. Most flooding in rainforest occurs due to deforestation or some form of human action.

This is all because of greedy and corrupt companys, to them the rainforest is worth more cut down than it is up but lets be honest the wealth of the rainforest is not in money but in it's diversity and amazing life and planlife which have not yet been analysed and for all we know could be cures for some devastating illnesses. Only 3000 plant species have been analysed in the world. That does not even cover 1%.

Your right in that's how it normally works, but it's not that these trees don't have seeds that grow into new trees its the soil is of such poor quality. The only reason why the trees have grown as big as they have is due to their own leaves falling off and the nutrients from the fallen leaves being absorbed. So with the trees gone, the soil quality is even worse and it will take longer for the trees to regrow.

hate to say it dude but in these days it is survival of the fittess that goes for everything including poor people. It goes along with the saying you have to kill or be killed that is just a "saying" but if you think about it you can figure it out. But yea i do hate it that the the rainforest is being destoyed. But if they didn't cut down trees you wouldn't have furniture at your house. But for every tree cut down the stump plants 2 or 3 more trees.

@specialk18701 I appreciate that survival and comfort is important for us (humans). I myself have a great life, compared to those in poorer countries. The problem is when people just cut down and dont bother to replant or in the case of the Amazon, it takes years to regrow a lot longer than it would in the UK.
i try my best to use furniture that are made through a sustainable method e.g. IKEA

I don't get the connection between the dams and the flooding, It rains alot there thats obviously why it's called a rainforest. And there are rivers there so when it rains heavilily it could easyily flood during the rainy season. I don't think it's the Dams causing the flooding, Or am I wrong? Please reply :D

@TheStrangeBanana You are right that there is a lot of rain fall in the rainforest, but it is normally absorbed by the trees (unless the trees are cut down). The areas behind the dams are normally located at the bottom of basins, which once the rain water is in it, is too much for the trees to absorb and remains there until released from the dam. Most flooding in rainforest occurs due to deforestation or some form of human action.

This is all because of greedy and corrupt companys, to them the rainforest is worth more cut down than it is up but lets be honest the wealth of the rainforest is not in money but in it's diversity and amazing life and planlife which have not yet been analysed and for all we know could be cures for some devastating illnesses.
