  • medmond6 - it's not over. It is continuing, as all art should, down through generations, from one artist to another. 30 years ago, maybe more, young Warren Vache, then with the Goodman band, took my son John under his wing and made sure the 17 year old was accepted at Manhattan School of Music, and got steady gigs every night on 52nd Street, playing with The Greats. John is now Australia's most popular American jazz artist. Search YT for John Harkins, piano, also see HarkinsMusic(dot)com

  • In the 70's I was a member of The NJ Jazz Society And got to see and hear a lot of these great musicians including BG it was wonderful The younger guys we had then were Warren Vache, Kenny Davern, Bob Wilber (not exactly young at the time), Scott Hamilton, Harry Allen, Marty Gross, Bucky Pizzarelli, Dick Hyman and a host of local guys that could really lay it down with the pros. Those were the days for me back then. Can't believe the passage of time. Makes me sad .

  • es genial simplemente genial

  • love CC's tone and playing!

  • Originally released as "Good Enough To Keep" {the initial pressings carry this title}, recorded on March 13, 1941.

    Benny Goodman, clarinet

    Charlie Christian, electric guitar

    Cootie Williams, trumpet

    George Auld, sax

    Johnny Guarnieri, piano

    Artie Bernstein, bass

    Dave Tough, drums

  • Takes me back a long way. I just love hearing the small groups like Artie Shaw Grammercy Five and Benny's Sextet. No musicians like this around anymore. Thanks so much for this music.
