  • Gorgeous colour!

  • Just inspirational Songs for bass players and drummers Funk Jazz most might not know them...

  • That shirt!!! I want one. I'm a new fan so can you tell me when your DVD is coming out or is it already out? :)

  • When I say "step up" I mean you go out of your way to help and show us and you don't have to. Thanks again.

  • I have watched your videos from time to time and you have really stepped up on teaching. I appreciate it and I am sure others would agree with me.

  • Hey marlowe, you the man :) just one question, when you do the D-E and G-A fill you don't mute the upper string ? just asking cause i have a prob when i slap the A or D string i hit a little bit the E or A string as well and it sounds bad so in my fills i have to mute the upper string with my index or middle finger...hope i didn't confuse you :)

  • as soon as i saw the shirt, i hit suscribe

  • so easy but so well slapped, as always! :D

  • epic t-shirt man!

  • Oh God I must have that shirt.

  • Ik kan niet een vraag, je bas is passief of actief??

  • i'm in love with that bass

  • I've been watching your videos for a long time now, and as a true finger style player I will buy the DVD, just because your approach to the lessons is very comfortable to those who do not feel that way around 'slapping tha bass'. I hope it will be released soon!

  • awesome shirt

  • Hey Marlowe, I've been playing bass for 3 years now, and my fingerstyle is I'd like to think fluid and tight, but for the life of me, I absolutely suck at slapping. I've been trying to learn for about a year now, and I have a hard time getting used to the spacing. For example I tried to play this slap lick, and instead of popping the third string, I find myself popping the fourth over and over. Is there any technique that you know of which helps one get used to the string spacing?

  • @guhcdn You have been playing for three years and suddenly find out there is a space between the strings?;-) All new techniques require getting used to, just pratice and it will come

  • @MarloweDK Hahaha, I didn't mean it like that, I just find it hard to get my index finger and thumb used to the spacing between the strings. Oh, P.s. Are your online classes still full, or has your schedule free'd up a bit more.

  • I have a blue version of that bass!

  • Brilliant stuff. Been playing bass finger style for 20 years your stuff is making me think it's time to start again. Inspiring stuff. You do make it look so easy. Thanks

  • any tips on how not to hit the other strings when you're trying to hit only one with your thumb?

  • I want to play bass the way you do and all your videos are so well made. Could you please point me in the right deriction, of your first video i should watch is?

  • Gay or not, that pink bass is cool as shit!

  • Marlowedk I don´t have words to thank you, can´t wait for that DVD !!!, by the way haven´t you thought about doing a similar tutorial video for your: "Funky bass fill using open strings and Using your voice when playing", I´m sorry but I just love it, and for us begginers is very hard to follow. Thanks.

  • When and where's the DVD available from?

  • Sos de mucha ayuda tus videos, Gracias !

  • straight swag

  • Nice, :) I need some one on one lessons

  • @MarloweDK Hi Marlowe, which slapping-technique do you prefer?

The new one or the standart slapping technique?

With new one i mean the technique like you use it in doublethumbing, but only the down stroke.

    Greets

  • I need this T-Shirt! Where did you buy it? Alternatively, has anyone the the picture?

  • @MarloweDK I love your videos and I'm sure your DVD will be terrific. From what I've seen you are a dedicated player/educator, and very generous in the way you share your knowledge. It's a beautiful thing. Stay Funky!

  • @tonyopp Thanks Tony, and it IS also partly due to your pioneering book , that i got a lot out of in the start 80's, you set the standard for slap methods then to now! I strongly recommend it on my own website playbassnow. Thanks for the thumb(s) up, means a lot to me:-)

  • I love this riff :DDDDDDDDD

  • I have the same t shirt and play the bass as awesome like you hahaha

  • Listen this Lick on "Santana One chain don't make no prison" at 4mn

  • Marlowe! i have been watching your's awsome lessons, thank you so much my friend!

  • When is it coming out?!?!?! I want it!

  • @rafammbass in 590 videos of writing "Easy basslines" you kind of run through all of the possible combinations. He probably didn't do it on purpose.

  • @rafammbass I think you cand find many similarities to any given slapbassline, since the language is very limted at least the old school funk style. You just cannot protect every minor pentatonic run played with the thumb or Larry Graham would be a billionaire since his style of playing / basslines are copied by everybody;-) By the way, that run i do is heard in a lot of different songs by many different artists, itsa general descending minor pentatonick LICK

  • @MarloweDK Ignore this idiot (rafammbass) or whatever he calls himself.

MarloweDK "You're The Man". From one of your "many fans" from around the world !! (Unlike "Mr Criticism / rafammbass" who only has 6 fans....jealous)

Looking forward to purchasing one of your DVD's.

  • @the12345joker MarloweDK understood what I said, unlike you moron. I bet your mother language is spanish, and you have no idea what I wrote, muchacho.

  • @MarloweDK Thank you for your kind comment. Slap It was the first (and best, so far) slap lessons book, thus I have to agree with you it has also influenced a lot of bass players like you and me.

I am a supporter, will be buying you lesson as soon as it gets to the public. Your lessons have made a big difference for newcomers to the bass world. Keep it going.

    Cheers from Brazil.

  • @MarloweDK u spelt pentatonic wrong lmaoo

  • @MarloweDK

This Dvd looks like it's really well done, i'll sure buy if it really TEACHES how to slap !

  • @rafammbass I never do this, but your stupidity requires that someone ask. Please do the right thing and go kill yourself.

  • @ImanIself Sorry you do not have an ear like I do. I am pretty sure you cannot distinguish a bark from a trumpet.

  • @rafammbass Tony is not the originator of that bass line, 1000's of bass players since the 60's have probably stumbled on that sequence of notes on the pentatonic scale at one point. One could say that the first two notes (the slap & pull off) are from "Pop Life" (1 step down) or that the last part comes from the main riff of "Rock-n-roll Koochie Koo". Many funk, R&B, rock songs have various elements similar to this bass riff. These after all are just riffs, elements of songs, not whole songs.

  • @rafammbass By the way, thanks for introducing me to Tony Oppenheimer. He's very nice on the bass. I didn't know about him before.

  • @rafammbass while I appreciate your looking out for me, mentioning my name, working in a mention of my book... Dude you're amazing... Thanks! :) But seriously, it's obvious from his videos that MarloweDK has made a serious study of slap technique and bass in general. He comes by his wisdom on this material thru his own hard work. He's the real deal.

  • @rafammbass

    Marlowe is right.

This line is Basic man. These kind of funky lines are countless on the web lol.
