  • We also have the censor board for a reason to not let any films to exploative or dangerous to get made. but to say a movie like Goodfellas shouldnt get made is just ridiculous. and Nas is the Scorsese of rap so for him not to make a violent song is stupid. he does it tastefully never exploitive and he is a great artist. and like he said not all his music is violent of course that's what they picked to air on the show cause violence get ratings.

  • (2/2) But a smart person will watch it and say a gangsters life is not for me, i don't want to die or go to jail or rat on my friends. The world is less violent after the invention of film then it was any time before the invention of films. Of course powerful movies and music do inspire people to do dumb things but the percentage of it compared to all crime in the world is miniscule. also i think it woudl be more dangerous to not be able to make Goodfellas, Casino, The godfather etc.

  • (1/2)If writers, directors, actors, musicians all stopped talking about real life violence and instead talked about flowers it would be dangerous because violence would still go on in the world but by watching films about violence example Goodfellas we see how all the mobsters die or go to jail by the end so if we didn't have this beautiful film to teach us about the whole cycle of a gangster people wouldn't get put off by the dying or jail and would just jump into it,

  • interviewer: " do you think your guna change your music to be more positive" what nas shoulda of said: have you heard "i can"

  • He could have gone to the interview not high! He could have smoked after the interview!!!! Damn!

  • They just have to play "Shoot 'Em Up"?? Nas is the G.O.A.T. IMO, but Nastradamus wan't that great, why don't they play something like "One Mic" or "I Can" or anything off distant relatives? Once again a prime example of the media blowing shit out of proportion, Nas handled himself well in this interview.

  • @The12Jacob my thoughts exactly.

  • well motherfuckers dont deserve to live after the laws of mosses were introduced, sexing ur own mother is an abomination to pagans and monotheists alike, think outside the square my brothers in hip hop, incest is much hated by the lord for good reasons..

  • Much respect to Nas!

  • i like how all the little notes poppin on the screen takes everythang out of context.. wow.

  • Music is an influence.........anyone knows this just driving in the car and feeling pumped up to drive faster when their song comes on.....but if music drives you to actually kill, then there's other issues at play.....

  • rap music doesnt influence people? tell that to the parents of that lil nigga boosie wrote a leter to from jail, telling him not to be like him. because he said on the show "beyond scared straight" that boosie was his role model....people need to pull they fuckin head out they ass...you dumb as shit if u think music PERIOD isnt an influence, that goes for anybody.

  • @cutmanjones If that's the case then parents need to be more careful as to what they let their kid do, be it no rated R movies, no violent music, or nothing that contains nudity or obscene language. It's a cold world though, and eventually these children will become adults and exposed to the exact things that musicians like Nas are talking about in their songs.

  • CHECK OUT...

Eli G - Hold You Down

  • @jancrow23 the interviewer is insensensitive to the struggles of black and oppressed peoples as shown by his lack of overt respect for nas rappin da truth unlike most rappers

  • I Can, Queens get the Money, The World is Yours, Thugz Mansion.

You could have put any one of those fuckin' songs on. But no, CNN had to take a violent song from his weakest album and paint him like as a typical gangster rapper.

Nas is a fuckin' lyrical genius, one of the best rappers to ever grace hip hop. They could have taken any song from Illmatic (rife with social commentary) and it would have been great. Fuck CNN. Not to be racist, but the black reporter should have known better.

  • This Fool has obviously Never- Ever listened to a NAS album, please do some research before you speak out the side of your neck, so called " journalist"

  • He is so stupid he doesnt even realize he has an influence on other brain dead youth like himself. lol (what an idiot)

  • ItWasTyped. com - the TRUTH about conspiracy theories & theorists, plus new music etc

  • People are molded by their surroundings, the beliefs and teachings from their parents, from where they grew up on. within time they realize right from wrong. Rap music doesnt influence you to go kill someone. If the rappers really did what they said, they would be dead or in Jail.

  • Nas is one of hip hop's last pioneer and activist

  • Nas WON an Emmy (2011) for the ESPN documentary 'Survival 1.' The documentary follows the journey of amputee victims of the Liberian civil war who form a soccer team and eventually became champions. Nas did the narration, scored the music (song "Shot Em Up" displayed in this video) and produced the award winning documentary. This interviewer seemed to be not in touch with Nas' GREAT body of work. Nas is a true lyrical GENIUS...POET! He is beyond being just a rapper…Nas is the GOAT!

  • As Malcolm X might say, this interviewer is a "house negro".

  • @DAVN121 You are fucking stupid or white. This guy is a professional doing a good job actually letting a good rapper come on mainstream TV and explain his points of view. Would you rather him have on lil wayne and be like "yo yo my nigga"?

  • @jancrow23 oh please, nas is not so different than lil wayne, one minute he is for the youth than he is calling women bitches and hoes, or is disrespecting women ok? So sick of ppl giving rappers passes for this! so he goes on some tv show "dropping knowledge", and he is a genius, please!

  • @southernbrooklyngal Some women are bitches and/or hoes... Why is it okay for women to talk about loser, dead beat, broke, etc.men in their songs, but not okay when men talk about women of the caliber? Please cite Nas' lyrics were he call ALL women hoes? I bet you can't. I'm tired of the double standard from idiotic feminist like yourself. I'm equally tired of you thinking women are so innocent and pure, and that there isn't ant truth to the "knowledge" that they are "dropping"... Please!

  • @80sDon If you never heard Nas call a woman a bitch in his music than you are not really listening!

  • @southernbrooklyngal You did not comprehend what I wrote. He's referring to a certain type of woman. If a woman sleeps around, or is a prostitute, so is referred to as a hoe in a rap song, what's the problem? Do are you saying no such woman exist, or are men not allowed to call them what they are? I also asked you to cite a version were he said that ALL (key word *all*) women were hoes & bitches. I'm still waiting on that.

  • @southernbrooklyngal There's just a double standard with you want to be feminist today. You can have men half necked or at least parading around shirtless with ripped muscles in most chick flicks & TV show, but when you see women doing the same thing it's disrespectful to women... Get over it...

  • @80sDon get over it? lol, I'm not a feminist(if a woman doesnt like to hear the words bitches and hoes than she is label a feminist)! now who is throwing labels?

  • @jancrow23 Stupid or white? You racist faggot

  • @jancrow23 Why would you add in "or white". Way to keep alive the race card.

  • Nas, there is direct relationship between violence committed by poor young black men and the 50% black unemployment in our community. Furthermore, the prison industrial system creates violent young black men and lets be real, rappers r role models and mentors for violent young men seeking to enter the “thug life”.

  • @Levicobx Yea man but lets look at the bigger picture. rappers are coming out of the streets. industries sign these rapper. FACT if a rapper makes 10cents per album hes king, rappers make under 5cents per album. FACT rappers have to give 35% to the manager, 20% to the producer/DJ. rappers also need an image so all the cars and chains borrowed for the video HAVE TO BE PAYED BACK. only way to make it is to sell. WHY IS IT THAT GANGSTER RAP GETS SIGNED AND UPLIFTING RAP DOESN'T.

  • @Levicobx AND i just wanted to tell you this man. PUBLIC ENEMY, KRS ONE, GRAND MASTER FLASH WAS HIPHOP. BIGGIE SMALLS and TUPAC WAS STILL HIP HOP. In the 80's they rapped to uplift. WHEN RAP GOT VIOLENT WAS IN THE CRACK EPIDEMIC AND RODNEY KING BEATDOWN. IT WASNT TELLING YOU TO KILL IT WAS TALKING ABOUT THE FEELING IN THE STREET. HIPHOP IS THE URBAN EXPRESSION YOU CAN SAY RAP IS ITS MOUTH. RAP WAS NOT MEANT TO LIE; ALL WAYS REAL! RAP LOOSES POWER EVERYTIME IGNORANTS POINT THE FINGER.

  • @Levicobx ONE LAST THING. REPORTERS WANT VIEWS, REPORTERS LOVE PANDEMONIUM. SENCE THE BEGINNING OF TIME PPL MUST POINT THE FINGER. EXAMPLE, MICHAEL JACKSON COULDN'T HAVE DIED THE DOCTOR HAD TO KILL HIM. RAPPERS ARENT EVEN THE MOST RICH OF THIS. WHY DOES THE MEDIA ONLY SHOW THIS? WHY DOES THE RADIO ONLY REPEAT THIS? AND THE CITY IS RUINED BECAUSE POVERTY AND MISGUIDANCE LEADS TO WRONG PATHS. AND MONEY AFFECTS THE WORLD. SAME WAY THE MEDIA MAKES MONEY OF BAD RAP, STREETS ARE DEALIN AND KILLIN 4 IT

  • @Levicobx I agree. You can not defend rap now a days.

  • I would have loved the presenter guy to have signed out with...."Word to my brother from another mother, Nasir Jones. BLACK POWER, peace my n-words" LOLOL

  • Also they call out Yeezy, the ish he wrote on watch the throne was def inspired by this kids death.

"314 soldiers died in Iraq, 509 died in Chicago" Post that on CNN and FOX, Agenda bias news stations. How are people dumb enough to watch this.

I'm gonna start watching PBS for all my news

  • How bout they put on "one mic" or "I can" lyrics????

  • Nas sly fox great fucking song

  • nas exploits the fucked up shit. kanye is a hyprocrite

  • "If you watch Gangs of New York" lol

  • niggaz respect violence so i become it.

  • Dear nas, wattup son,,,, its mega. i got ur letter, me n ur cuzin oogie here together.

  • ...continued... Celebrities want all the fame, "glory," and respect, that comes with being a well known talent, but they don't want the responsibilty that comes along with it. whether you like it or not, people look up to you. And when you're well known, you have even more influence. Not owning up to the part you play in the lives of young impressionable men and women is nothing but plain SELFISHNESS..

  • Nas is a talented man, and he used to be one of the few rappers that I liked. But I strongly DISAGREE with him here... and any rapper, for that matter, who doesn't take responsibility for the influence their lyrics have on younger people. Whether they want to admit it or not, MUSIC *IS* INFLUENTIAL. I think it's just selfish of these artist, who always sing and rap about killing people, to put all the blame on the parents. that's nothing but a COP-OUT.

  • @Refining1

Not really. I listen to Tyler, the Creator and I don't feel like raping women, killing my friend, taking prescription drugs, killing my father, or cutting my wrists.

    Yeah, Tyler's fucked up. OFWGKTA

  • Johnny Cash wrote some cruel lyrics....why not criticize his music?...see the pattern?

  • @gangstamind187 some cruel lyrics...not a constant stream of profanity and negativity.i grew up on illimatic. and perhaps you could provide some examples of white kids with cowboy boots and bad teeth slaying each other based on these songs.I started thinkin of Nas as confused at best.took him almost 10 yrs to come out with an 'up da kids' song.he christian, muslim or 5%?a man who struggles with his own identity that much has no business or ability to guide our kids...that is all.

  • al capone was here before rap

  • Left seat: House Negro, Right seat: Field Negro...simply put.

  • HE STONED.

  • like how they get a black guy to bring this shit up to nas..just another whay to cause confusion

  • @superrobotmunkyman

how is that going to cause confusion?

  • putting one against the other to show a black man being questioned by a other "black man" sends a message the the sub mind t ....its a old trick that gets used all the time

  • Lol the kids don't listen to Nastradamus anyway XD but honestly listen to Rule. How is that a bad influence,

  • @InfamousAct But the kid's do listen to Nastradoomus

  • They tried to pin this whole shit on Nas, and he handled it like a G. Soon as he would of said, "yea Ill change my music" they would of said "yea, because thats why this kid was killed, because of your lyrics".

  • people do what they want to do. people learn from the PEOPLE around them, their parents, and family. who they grew up with, where they came from. NOT the movies they watch or the music they listen to. why cant people realize this?

  • I love how whenever *insert media source* wants to harp on a particular figure, they'll dig up something that may have happened years in the past, "artistic expression" at that; as though we all don't change our minds and views even within just a few minutes after a certain incident.

  • why dont they fuckin play 'the world is yours'

  • @MrBrucethegoose or Count Your Blessings hahaha

  • @MrBrucethegoose simple; its called propaganda. Nas is far from a "gangster" rapper.

  • Nas is one of the true rappers in the game, He writes about life the way he see's it through his eyes then these brodcasting pricks play his songs out of context to make him seem like all he wants to do is gang bang but he does what they will never do and that is speaks the truth

  • fuck nas. he makes good music but just stay the fuck out of politics man its not your realm...Actors too...stfu. What if I just raided auditions for movies and said,,,,,oh their not giving me my rights.....I WOULD BE LAUGHED AT. MESSAGE TO ALL ARTISTS: STFU AND STICK TO YOUR GIG

  • @Redloxodonta you got no clue man. I agree with you to some sort, especially when it comes to certain actors. But Nas is real. Read and listen to the lyrics of his songs, he got it right, no doubt. Sly Fox is one of them. The song they play at the beginning of this clip has nothing at all to do with what Nas is about...

  • @Redloxodonta kids dont listen 2 obama theyll rather listen to nas or someone

  • @HarrisonDunnett right, they should've played that.

  • Nas look high as hell.

  • God i love that song, It's telling us to blast those bastard media controllers and politician.

  • Nas has so many calm songs and they pick some random song i never heard and use this uncle-Tommin' nigga

  • Nas should drp that sell out nigga

  • and they even got a black man to interview him smh... music influencing violence? the violence was apparent before the fuckin sound bytes, what came first the chicken or the fucking egg? Take 3 ppl put them in a room with no food and place a single slice of cake in this room once a day, they will kill eachother until one person is eating. Keep adding ppl and perpetuate it even more by giving them drugs and no way out. Your end result, "niggas". backwards ass society smdh

  • nas looks high l0l

  • 3:33 Why is it Nas' job to change the views of anybody's children other than his own? He makes music based on his reality like he said. It's what he see's and hears? He expresses his ideals. Why the hell does he have to educate people about anything? Because if that is his job, then why the fuck do we have teachers? Parents, be God damn parents. Teach your kids right from wrong. Simple as that.

  • This reporter needs to get his shit straight before he starts an interview. Dumbass nigga.

  • hahahah this nigga just said n word

  • It really annoys me that people think NAS and other rappers are intelligent just because they make deep rap music. Youve gotta be dumb as fuck to ever think shooting or owning a gun is correct or positive and the fact that NAS at one point had to figure that out just shows how dumb he is.

  • @SamHain10316

We as citizens of the United States of America have the right to keep and bear arms. The founding fathers included that in the bill of rights [and later it became the 2nd amendment in the constitution] so that we could fight back against the government if the government ever became a tyranny. Also, the government doesn't deny an individual their right to defend themselves against any and all threats.

But then again, since you're not 'dumb,' you probably already knew that.

  • a song wouldnt cause somebody to commit murder but it is influencial. i know bc these niggas influenced me! Pac even said that Ice Cube, Big Daddy Kane and them was his daddy b/c he didnt have a father. Nas, u know music influence kids and thats why u made "i know i can" and other positive music. i think he was afraid of giving "censors" any ammo b/c he is truly against censorship... but he kinda want to have it both ways. anyways, Nas is still the best alive. peace

  • fuck outta here, young warriors they are just thugs

  • this guy is so nervous and trying to sound new friendly black and stutters while reading the letter

  • "n word" what a fuckin pussy

  • you know how many songs does nas have about peace love? now they gone stick to this one song... every MUSICIAN (not only rappers) have a song or 2 about violence and shit...these news channels are always bein biased muudafuckas its ridiculous!

  • Nas is just as guilty as any gangster rapper because he has lyrics that he raps just to make money off of the black community while the stupid little ghetto kids truley believe in what he's saying. Yeah it's entertainment but the problem is that these kids don't know that. Nas just like a lot of ther rappers has a lot of blood on his hands.

  • "A rap song in the 21st century influencing violence is a joke"

Video games, movies our government. Those are much bigger influences, especially when music is his expression and reality of situations. I mean, the US makes a million ground zeroes everyday and here we are criticizing Nas for a song that doesn't even reflect what he conveys in most of his music. If you think he's got blood on his hands, you got to think again dude.

  • @TheRingLeaderMan123 The problem with that is that the kids inj the ghetto don't relate to a bunch of old white guys. They relate more to rappers like Nas and most kids don't even care or are to young to even follow politics. These rappers are fake and act like they are truley commiting the violence they rap about in there music but, the kids do.

  • @moneyman237952 Once again, there is so much more than just rap and politics. If you wanna talk about rap, why is it that the industry will allow an artist to put several songs about killing each other, but never a song about police brutality. Why is the top songs are about guns, money drugs pussy and not about reality. Its not the rapper, its the industry. And honestly, if you look at Nas's whole career as an artist, his music is beyond the norm. Nas is simply a bad example of bad influence

  • @moneyman237952 Once again its much more than just rap and politiks. But, why is it that the top songs are all about killing EACH OTHER and not about police brutality? Racism? This is the industry. The rappers are forced to rap about pussy, guns and drugs. This mainstream shit is just mutation of hip/hop. If you wanna talk about "ghetto kids" why is education being privatized? Why is it called The Projects? I mean shit, signed rappers are used as tools.

  • @moneyman237952 About Nas, he is a poor example of any bad influence. In his whole career, Nastradamus was his worst, and this song ain't even that popular and I can find much much worse if you wanna. Nas music is so so so so much more than the norm. Yeah, he made a lot of sell-out songs, but there are so many more real songs (and those are also better known for the most part) My point, nas is a bad example of bad influence and CNN coulda found a better interviewee for the subject

  • @TheRingLeaderMan123 I disagree Nas''s album Nas I am was pretty hard as well. I agree that Nas has some good songs that are positive and he is an above average rapper. Nas is a good example because he has songs that rap about violence. Another reason why CNN didn't find another interviewee is because the other rappers don't care. Nas has compassion and cares and his record proves that. These other rappers would care less about you allthey want is for you to make them rich.

  • @moneyman237952 Word, it was those two albums. What I meant about the choice of interview was not that Nas doesn't care by any means, but rather I think there are many others that fit the subject better like say.....Cash Money. Nas has violent music, no shit, but he raps about the reality while the majority of mainstream rappers just shout out how much money they got and just say how they kill and shoot and GLORIFY it, Nas doesn't in my opinion at least

  • I actually have no problem with them quoting "Shoot em up" at the beginning. Nas was there, and they gave him a chance to justify his art, which he did. It was an overall good interview and i think everyone can take something from this.

  • this man is acting so white

  • "a rap song in the 21st century influencing violence is a joke"

  • "Uhm, N-word"

  • i fucking love NAS

  • That song is my favorite effin song probably the first gangsta rap I ever learned & see how they tried to use the song against him when the song isnt even relevant in 2009. They talk about the bad but fail to bring his positivity up which outweighs the bad. His song with Lauryn hill If I ruled the world which a has many hits, they dont know about that or are they just playing the blind eye. this news channel & whoever decided to do that can kiss my ass.

  • they talking about a song he did back in the 90's. and there's an over exposure of television and music over books and real information to make children become more influence by positivity.

this whole interview on CNN is bullsh*t and so is the set up of this interview.

  • If they showed a snippet of One Mic the same thing would have happened, yet that is one of the most conscious songs I have ever hear

  • Fucking hate these news channels, anyone who would have seen this on TV would now just see Nas as your average negative gangster rapper, when he is extremely conscious and is against gun violence and black on black violence. They just show a snippet of Shoot em up, and make him seem like an immoral blood thirsty person when there was actually a message behind that song.

  • house negro vs field negro

  • @jkool1919 fucked up... but i laughed lmao

  • Nas is high as hell LOLOL

  • Hell! If the artist make a positive track speakin truth and knowledge to the blk community then the white corporate bosses won't put the record out! This bullshit is done intentionally to keep our state of mind and state of being dumb and ignorant! they don't want blks listening to positive rap like pe's "fight the power" don't ever think this corporate takeover is an accident because it's not!

  • Nah its not the origin of violence, but music glorifys violence to make it seem right when its wrong. But i like the music he's doing with damien marley.

  • @RevelationSpeaksLoud You must witness the darkness of this world, to understand the light.

  • @freedfighter96 I agree with that

  • Violence originated gangsta rap. It was NOT the other way around. So it's not Nas' or any rapper's fault, that this shit is happening.

  • Subscribe to stonethugmusic to see more

  • nas has plenty of great songs and they just had to pick out that song lol....

  • personally i partially think he's wrong- rap lyrics DO have a bad influence because regardless of the message, people will always interpret it wrong, but they're still important to convey the real sense of poverty, violence, uprisings, etc. i think rappers know that they're picking their poison...everything anybody says has weight- small or big and you can't ignore that. but sometimes you have to hope your reaching out to people as efficently as possible

  • most young black teens never seen goodfellas and or godfather, and if they did they know thats not them, black rappers are them, black rappers need to talk more about positive real things that happen

  • @19ways4u well for people like Nas, not many positive things happened when he was growing up in Queensbridge

  • HAHAHA the white-washed anchor struggles so much trying to read Nas' letter.. He's definitely lost his funk.

  • Naz can't even look the reporter in the eye! Notice how he keeps looking at the ground because he is ashamed of his own music and, his negative influence!

  • @ChompGa Nice observational skills there.. perhaps you should re-watch the video and refrain from scrolling down the page to do some trolling before you see the whole thing. The reporter would act the same way if put on the spot and asked to justify his art form.

  • @DiemTea I watched the video and, scrolling down the page has nothing to do with what I see in this video. I see a grown man making music to promote murder and, selling it too kids! I find it funny that people would feel the need to defend such behavior. I thought the world had moved out of the dark ages. i guess some want them to return?!?

  • @ChompGa it's called a subliminal expression ,or in other words, scare tactics. Some children, and apparently you, do not see the message he, and others like him, are portraying because they're very literal and analytical thinkers. He wrote that song at a time when he was a street soldier, so all he was doing was expressing what was happening in his life. The whole point of a song like that is to show people what's happening to young mind's while they grow up in impoverished areas

  • @ChompGa No thats just how Nas is, I met him in person before lol

  • @ChompGa Gtfo, are you serious? You have no clue what Na's music is about. He's not gonna sing happy go lucky songs for the house negro to enjoy, and leave the voice of the impoverished and unloved unheard. What people don't understand is that rap came from the bottom, its not pop. They speak truths about what they've seen or been through themselves. What if they made happy songs all the time, that wouldn't change the attitude of a young Black/Hispanic male living through poverty.

  • @ChompGa He would feel that he has no place in this world and become even angrier and more violent towards everything around him. What Nas does is hooks them in with truths that he knows they're going through, and while has them he feeds them songs like "I Can", "One Love" and "The World Is Yours". But you ignorant, white washed, self righteous, know it alls are too busy feeding off the angry rapper image (50 Cent) to read between the lines. Its not all black and white, morons.

  • so after centuries of persecution of innocent people, crusades, rascism, genocide, and slavery, we now blame rap music for violence in todays world, a world with less genocide than ever? gimme a break. how about instead of criticizing him we find out why he wrote that and then find ways to FIX IT

  • Naz : "I'm not going to change my music to make it more positive."

  • Naz : "I'm not going to change my music to make it more positive."

  • Wow...Naz shows how stupid and, selfish he is, when will these so called "artist" ever get tired of promoting murder and, violence to kids. One thing is for sure you reap what you sew! Naz is pitiful excuse for a "man".

  • @ChompGa fuck you, you racist son of bitch!!

  • @toreall101 Nice post retard, shows how ignorant you truly are! Do you really think I give a shit about a dumbass hater like you calling me a racist! White people don't care about you playing the race card anymore! You have to actually have a real argument to support your position! You don't bcause This type of music is garbage and, any honest person would agree!

  • @ChompGa shut the fuck up. im white, and i care. i truly care. i hate racism. grow the fuck up man, il bet you havent even talked to a black man in your life, but you still hate them. hes not gonna make lyrics more positive because this happens. theres gun fights every day and murders and rascism every single day.you cant ignore it. theyre not promoting violence, if they were, theyd say "hey kids go buy guns". theyre exposing it. rap music is a cry for help, but u fail to see the deeper meaning.

  • @tennisdude2834 First of all You can kiss my ass with your "shut the fuck up " comment!!! I need to grow up because I take a stand against this garbage they poison kids minds with??? "I have never talked to a black man"???Hahahaha... Wow... I have lived in Miami and, Chicago playing basketball my whole life! I have spent more time with black people than you have! Rap artist are not exposing it they are glorifying it! I don't care if you are white kid! I will tell Eminem the same thing!

  • @tennisdude2834 amen someone who sees the truth.

  • Nas should have been more aggressive. Tell the people THE TRUTH on WHY the music is rugged like that. Dont rap about it. Speak it right there. looking away alot, hunched over, speaking low, not Gangsta. Of COURSE music influences people just like TV does. When u listen to Gospel your influence to think about God. When you listen to R&B you think about love etc. Him not at least admitting that makes him look bad. Nas makes good music especially the Nas/Damian collab albulm.

  • Black kids need a healthy serving of Krs One, Nas, Chuck D, and Tupac. On special weekends and holidays you can eat the high calorie junk food of Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Wacka Flocka, Solja Boy. Too much sugar rots ya teeth and ya mind. Eat soul food or lose your soul. Your choice.

  • Teh white community does not have the numbers of jail, out of wedlock pregnancy the black comm. has.

  • Notice how its says Nas: "I'm not going to change my music to make it more positive."

  • @TheAnarchyRulez He must've retracted on that because he made a very positive albulm after this interview with Damian Marley - Distant Relatives he didnt even curse. Funny they go to the Nastradomas albulm (which sucked btw back in 98) What about one mic? I Can? Rule? 2nd Childhood? Black Zombies? Papa was a Playa? Poison? If I ruled the world? Purple? Heaven a mile away? Black president? The world is yours? N.I.G.G.E.R? Du rags? Hero? They made sure they played that song first b4 interviewing.

  • @Psa1mist9 no I'm saying there just only showing that statement to make people think that he's negative

  • @TheAnarchyRulez Thats because he is a negative influence!

  • @TheAnarchyRulez O ok. Yeah I agree with you. The media isn't concerened with the truth. "The Truth will not be Televised" :-P.

    -PeAcE

  • @TheAnarchyRulez lol fucked up

  • if ppl want to hold someone accountable why don't you leave NAS alone and hold those that bring you porn, those that make movies with sex all in them, those that put violence in movies, those that make cigarettes, those that put liquor stores in your neighborhood and behind all those things is notb nas's face nor a black face. the music industry control by jews prmotes violence, and sex and bitches and hoes that is why ppl like erykah badu, jill scott and many others get little play time

  • For the record, I was one of the kids that Nas along with many other rappers influenced negatively. We as a people need to watch what manner of men we deem as honourable. We also need to hold them accountible.

  • We are all a product of influence as we also influence others. If Nas's music reasonably influenced violence in one person's life, then it is safe to say that he did influenced violence to persist, even if it did exist before the 21'st century. His career is full of hyprocrasy and contradiction, and he needs to hold himself accountible for his verses. One minute, he's talking about black empowement; the next minute he is conveying the things that make our people powerless.

  • BIG UPS TO NAS. HE IS A REAL MAN! I LOVE HIS MESSAGE!

  • Remember for every 1 finger you can point to blame others for you situation 2 are pointed back at you!!! SO THEY SET THE TRAP? WHO'S FAULT IS IT THAT YOU WERE CAUGHT IN IT???? THINK ABOUT! YOU CAN'T CHANGE HOW THEY TREAT YOU UNTILL YOU CHANGE HOW YOU TREAT YOU!!!! yOU WANT WHITE PEOPLE TO RESPECT YOU BUT YOU DON'T RESPECT YOUR SELF?? HOW BACKASSWARDS IS THAT??

  • Fact of the matter is, YOU DON'T WANT TO: give up the FIFTH! You sware you cant function with out the BUD! Your OBSESSED with FAST MONEY, You depend on the Government to PAY YOUR WAY! FOOD, EDUCATION, LIVING EXPENSES? Yet, you complain on how you are treated? "If you want to be the BOSS, you got to pay the cost" You chase after the desires of your own heart, And plan for nothing? you'd rather have "scottie pippen 33's" then own a home. You cant make rent but have 2bill's for the new Mikes?

  • The White man Flooded your community with Drugs? Don't use them! Don't sell them! So, the White man flooded the community with fire arms? don't use them to harm your brother! Why Not invest in Privet Institutions? YOU CANT AFFORD IT? SACRIFICE A DUB A DAY, GIVE UP DRINKING, YOU JUST MADE NIYA'S TUITION!!!!!

  • "How does the white man influence black kids..." If U have to ask this question you clearly are blind!! There is a real war that was waged on the Black communities since the destruction of the Black Panther movement. Systems of various types have been put in place to be a snare to the Black Community. Although, I will state that It is your own fault "BLACK PEOPLE" If you fall prey to That system. THE WHITE SUPREMECY POWER STRUCTURE ONLY SET THE TRAP, THAT DOESN'T MEANT THAT U SHOULD WALK INTO IT

  • Many artist seem like they don't care b'cuz white ppl have put us in a position where we have to bleed to be free. Trying to making a living...trying to do what makes us happy under the umbrella known as white supremacy.

  • @brotherhood302 How does the white man influence black kids to beat up other black kids to be free?? "If you want to get out of the hood "I spoke at my high school last week," he said, "and I told them, 'You've got to focus. Stop blaming white people for your problems.' "-dave chappele STOP BLAMING OTHER PEOPLE! violence is an act caused by YOU forced on someone else making their life violent too. It is completely ignorant to blame other people for your decisions.

  • THis Guy Really doesnt know Nas.

  • @ThugMentality504

What does it mean to have a "thug" mentality? Is this something that I should be promoting to my junior high school students as a meaningful way to orient their lives? If so, how?

  • Nah dude. All you guys saying music influences violence live in the good part of town. Its wayyyy beyond that. I see i everyday it has nothing to do with music.

  • @j4ckr4bbit

I agree, its beyond music being solely responsible, culture creates an atmosphere where such music can even persist. On the other hand, I can't stand to hear dudes like NAS praise the very cultural pathologies which contribute to the demise of African American lives. But, I understand. If the community grows up and out of its tolerance for underachievement, NAS will have no job.......I see now where he is coming from.....
