  • Hey everyone,

I am buying an amp within the next week or two and I was thinking of getting either the Mustang 1 or the G-DEC Junior. I only need it for practice and yes I am a beginner. I also bought the Zoom G1XN Multi Effects pedal so I am not too worried about presets and everything. I am just curious as to which amp is better because I was going to go w/Line Spider, but it has too much metal effects for me. Thanks for all your help!!!

  • i got this amp used for 20 bucks and it is awesome!!!!

  • may i know how does the tuner work?

  • @afiqfalif It's more of a "tuning fork" type of tuner. It gives you the "A" tone, but you have to manually tune your guitar from there. If you don't trust your ear enough to tune, then I recommend an inexpensive "Korg" tuner ($10-20 U.S.). A Korg will do just fine.

  • i hav a question if u dont hav an amp is it not gona sound good cuz i just got my guitar yesterday and i dont kno really much bout this stuff

  • @Bluedip21 Nah...not necessarily. I don't think the "most expensive" items are necessarily the best sounding. I've played a Fender Squire and a Japanese made Strat clone that sounded better than a lot of high end guitars off the store rack. A good setup is important....but trust in the techniques you develop. Expensive equipment can't rescue someone from poor technique.

  • its 50W power use, but 15W RMS speaker.

  • Can you please post more videos with this amp and guitar combo! I want to know what the humbucker is like on that guitar? Do you think the guitar is good for Hendrix, Zeppelin, Clapton, and other rock artist stuff?

  • It has a Seymour Duncan humbucker, but I wasn't using it on this particular song. But the pickup sounds awesome if you want to go with a heavier sound.

Yes....and the Lonestar is very affordable. If your playing Hendrix, Zep or Clapton, I would say that a Strat is preferable to any other kind of guitar.

  • THE GDEC JR is a 15 WATT AMP - It s not a 50 watt amp. 15!

  • Nice tone, dude!

  • Thanks. I wish I hadn't hammered out this improvised jam at 2 or 3 A.M. My playing is very restrained here and sounds more sloppy than usual. If I was more aggressive on the attack and had the amp up louder, I could have done some cooler stuff.....but the people in my building would have been very pissed off at me.

But thank you for your kind words.

  • Hey no prob ... I also have a G-Dec Jr, and it's a handy lil amp for 150 ... Though I don't get nearly the tone from it you do. I'm a hack ...

  • I'll weigh in on that! I'm posting this in the basement of this really whack hotel here in Duluth,MN, I just got a G-dec Jr. about a month ago, & believe me, It kicks ass!! I'm going to an audition tomorrow with it, yeah, it may just be a practice amp, but can anybody repeat after me? MIKE IT TO A P. A.!!!

  • This is a 15 watt amp not a 50 watt amp

  • No, it is a 50 Watt amp. The speakers, themselves, are probably only tapping 15 Watts of juice. But to power the rest of the peripheral parts/aspects of the amp, you need more than 15 Watts.

The amp that I own reads "50 W" on the rear panel.

It must be remembered that this amp has a "Midi" interface, headphone jacks, built in backing tracks, tone modeling, etc.

In a sense, we are both right. This is only a practice amp. It can get loud...but not loud enough for a band.

  • ive got one they are terrific for practice , i like the hot rod settings !

  • I actually added this to my favorites because your playing is so smooth. I got myself a G-Dec Junior to sharpen my skills with my Tele and it sounds great. Thanks for the great posting!

  • is it a sort of big, loud amp

does it have regular headphones in the back of it

  • It's not big or very loud. It's 50 Watts...but all the features included are contributing to the need for the extra Wattage. I don't think this thing cranks louder than my 15 Watt Fender amp.

It has an IPOD size headphone plug-in jack in the back...as well as a midi and aux "in" jacks.

  • these little amps are great! i love to play through mine with my squier '51. it really sounds amazing on a good set of headphones also!

  • These are truly "practice amps". And I totally agree with you. Hopefully, someone doesn't miss out on purchasing it because of some negative criticisms. You can develop your ear and rhythm, as well as experiment with tone, all-in-one amp. This is a "must have" for all guitarists needing a good practice amp, especially beginners.
