  • Doesn't work.

  • I am dumber for having watched this crap...

  • wow bitch ur like fucking stupid

    TITS OR GTFO

  • Is it possible, that this entire video, possibly, is entirely scripted? Possibly, this could be true since, possibly, it seems to be possible.

  • you got to love new york, no one gives a shit a woman is talking to a camera. get out of my way damn it for I got to be where I got to be!!! LOL

  • awesome!

  • After "Why ( not me)? ", does life conceive happiness any better.?

    I doubt it does...

So, awaiting the next ( low) , what the proper question would be?

Would you usually ask "why me ?" in some of your highs? I wouldn't though I should, at least out of considering my lows.

Concerning feeling the happiness , with or without lows and highs, what about this question :

    Why not (now) ..??

  • This is what drew me to Buddhism.

  • My friend Matt summed up everything pretty well. "I love waffles," he said to me once. I was speechless.

  • very nice soul:-)))

  • You are so lovely. I wish i got a chance to have a coffee with you

  • I'll quote Heff...he said, I've been rich and I've been poor...rich is better..

  • Possible? Yes! Probable? No way, the human experience is too variable and - well, you get the idea...

  • Reminds me of ths quote fr Mandela "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?...We are all meant to shine, as children do...It's not just in some of us, it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

  • Bah, the fact that there are people worse off than you doesn't mean you should feel guilty about feeling bad when bad stuff happens to you. If you followed that logic, then you could never be happy either, because there are a lot of people better off than you too.

  • loved the video. Keep up the good work.

  • Umm how to word....

Thinking there is always someone worse-off than (figurative) you, might not be the best way to go about it, though I'm sure I don't know. Doesn't it rise up some weird superior feeling? "At least I'm not that guy...." I've never thought that way so I don't know, it just seems that way to me. And I'm not calling anyone anything... So don't freak out on me.

I guess I've realized over the years that I could become "that guy"....

  • Hey, I agree with that (rich people) lol...no, its trueno matter how bad off you think you are, somebody else out there is much worse!

btw just ignore the cretins on here they will go away eventually...

  • you're too philosofical...do you talk like that with your boyfriend?

  • 1: Loving wisdom too much is impossible, sir.

2: Talking like that, and looking like that, makes practically any thinking guy want to be her boyfriend.

  • Well then, she will always win all arguments.

    That's no fun.

  • Unless she argues with someone wiser :)

  • I like the way you took a generic idea people tell other people and really made three-dimensional, if that is the appropriate word. I'm going to remember that next time.

  • Humanity is a stupid race. And that's they never take the high road until the fecal matter hits the rotor blades. All you people can do is TALK TALK TALK. Drastic action will only take place when it's too late because those who have the power don't care at all, and those who care don't have enough money. Free energy is real but it would kill the oil industry. That's why we have to keep onpolluting - to feed the imperialist-petro-elite's greed. Bring on the energy revolution!

  • residentism is my new life philosophy

  • philosopher resident...

  • Hey Lori, you have a real good sense of perspective here. We learn more about ourselves and life from hardships than we do from fun times. Okay, most of us'll pick the fun everytime, but life chooses the crappy events for us. How we deal with those times is what defines us, our character. And it makes us appreciate the good days that much more. Of course, luck probably determines whether it ever balances out, but ya know what? Take the good that life gives you and savor it!!!

Saludos.

  • One more thing you can be happy about is that your fuckin' HOT!

  • An interesting idea, but I disagree.

What kind of "big highs" can poor people possibly have? Their "lows" are so big, its hard for them to be happy.

The "highs" of rich people are so big, it is easy for them to forget their "lows". So, no they do not have "lows" big enough to balance their lives.

  • love you! thanks for the message!

  • Even though this may help when nothing is going right, isn't it horrible to think that because there are ppl suffering worse then you, that you should feel ok?

  • Roger that Lori, Whats so funny bout peace , love and understandin..XOXO Bob

  • I don't agree with the vid at all.

Suffering from severe depression ever since childhood, the only way I would describe the first 18 years of my life would be "numbness". Very minimal highs and terrible lows. Completely imbalanced. It was only after I took steps to overcome my depression (though it will forever linger) that I started to feel and appreciate the highs.

So does happiness/sadness balance out universally? I don't think so. I think it all boils down to luck.

  • if "luck"= G-d, then, yes.

  • I've thought about this several times over.... :) BTW, did you guys get a new camera?

  • No some ppl are born into shit and have very dark life.

  • Oh, man. I think this video gave me diabetes. Treacle-sweet. Not in a good way. Maybe my least fav. resident video. Not that that says much.

  • hottie

  • Nice tits!!! Block me.

  • And Lori, you're still a breathtaking beautyqueen.

  • That could make some people think it's ok when others are poor, because they have their highs too.

It's very easy to misunderstand, and gives room for justifications when there's really nothing to justify.

Still a good point, I think about that for some years already.

And I find, that highs and lows are one small fraction of what makes a life lucky or not. The worries of a poor person are deep within the thoughts of him, and influence every single moment in his life, I'm sure about that.

  • Great questions and great video. 5 stars.

  • One of my favourite videos of yours. And very true.

  • That was nice Res!

  • Wow that was deep. But I think that people can do certain things that will increase their amount of happyness or sadness.

  • Don't feel guilty for troubles. Don't feel guilty for not knowing about others' troubles.

You'd only be a jerk if you don't want to know, don't care, don't sympathize.

There are lots of insensitive jerks out there.

Your feigning guilt won't change them. Look at Bernie Madoff or the bankers at Goldman Sachs.

They're criminals and they feel no guilt. You won't change them.

Better to work AGAINST them than to try to change their minds.

  • Nice thoughts. But you are only focussing in material world. What about when you need love? it does not require to be rich or poor.

  • Love the world and all is has to offer and I want to experience all that there is to see and do...there is no money so I will do what is at hand....a nut scratch...oh well....I got to maintain my sanity with comedy since the money is not there

  • I TOTALLY agree... This is just what I have been telling myself and other people over the last years. Welcome to my world, Lori! :-) Great stuff, really!

  • Good Outlook!

  • Yes she is a Looker, :) Why you? because you are very talented. Happiness in life is what you make it to be, material things make you happy for a limited time.

  • You missed the Train?Have a little cry,I missed the last Train ages ago and I gota walk home. There are many interesting things to see and do on the way and as Robert Frost put it "Miles to go before I sleep"

  • I like how the background changes and I like her pretty face. 5 stars :D

  • NIce VIDEO.... What camera are you using??

  • yes

  • Nice thoughts. Good to have a ground point to bounce up from if you are feeling down. Just tell yourself it isn't as bad as it could be, and move on.

  • There is a say "money does not buy happiness". No matter what you have, it remains only at the materialistic level and while it helps to some extent to remove worries (will I have food today? how to send my children to school? will I have enough water to grow the crops? etc...) I think that everyone has up and downs. I have seen people with nothing 100 times happier than I for sure ... and I have seen in the eyes of people more happiness in poor countries than in major cities of the world.

  • While money won't buy happiness, It's pretty difficult to be happy without at least some of it. Maybe we say it won't buy happiness because most of us have enough already.

  • no happiness is not rationed and some are way more happier than others.

  • Money is not the root of happiness it is what money allows people to do, where it allows us to go, what to eat, drink, wear, etc. If all these things did not come with a price tag of course we would be just as happy. How would you like to teleport yourself to egypt whenever you got the notion? wanna spend a few minutes in antarctica? BEAM you're there! Once teleporters are invented all this money shit will not even matter. They will try charging us to teleport, but will fail.

  • It is interesting to see a common day in NY's live, all the street traffic and people walking, a lot of people! All humans! Please Give us more frames like this, I like'em a lot!

  • Is that a new camera you're using. Looks good. That RT money is being spent wisely.

  • rich people get unhappy when there source of a million dollar income drops down by 200.000. and than they start pissing their pants cause there gonna become poor like everybody else who are making $ 45,000/year

  • No. Everyone does not have the same amount of happiness and sadness. Infact, the more loving you become the more capacity you have to stay happy despite any adversity, you no longer associate yourself with any troubles you are going through and develop a sense of inner warmth despite "the bread of affliction" if I were to be biblical.

A lot of rich people are miserable because they are cold and so they miss out on wonderful things like companionship, while...

  • ...other rich people are rich simply because they are so warm! They were so charismatic and created so much energy that people were drawn to pay for the services they were providing and make them rich!

  • money greed can be the worst thing you can do.

rich people take advantage of the poor people do get their asses riched.

  • I've always found it very interesting that our emotions can changed like the flip of a switch when it comes to good or bad news. I have tried to harness this "thought " power, but like you, I am human. Focusing on things we have to be grateful for DOES seem to be the best weapon. When my little boy hands me a pretty pebble I keep it in my pocket and every time I feel it in there I am reminded to be grateful for what I have.

  • very thought provoking.

  • I have to disagree. Sure there are rich people who are unhappy, but I think they'd be unhappier(?) if they lost their money. I think there are people who will be happy rich or poor, and people who will be sad rich or poor. But most of us if we have money have a better shot at running our lives in an enjoyable manner. I used to make significantly more money than i do now, and i enjoyed it immensely. I'm now working doubly hard to get back what I lost and even more. Maybe that's just me

  • excellent as always. very philisophical.

  • keep it up resident!! i love the HD on this one

  • I am not convinced that the absence of problems and the feeling of happiness have anything to do with each other. What evidence do we have to the contrary?

  • You reminded alot of an x-gf. oh well.

  • always love your posts-- you are a smart cookie.... not sure where that saying came about, but you are one! Most of the time when I watch your vids I am saying me too. Keep on Keeping on. Or whatever that one means too.

  • Well I think if you compare your self to "rich people" that's a bad place to start. Being so poor you have to work all the ,never see your family and are constantly in danger, is no good and more money can sure cure those woes. But after you're moneyed enough that you dont have to work as much and can see your loved ones as much as you want I think thats the point at which more and more money just wont make you happier. But for sure some people are happier then others.

  • Why Me? Because there will always be those that will have more then me and be those that will have less, why should I feel bad about feeling bad about my life and what I go through?

  • You're Beautfiul and you've always been human. Your Topics are interesting, that is why I subscribe to your page. You're like the Charlie Rose Show but in the Girl Version with Intelligent topics. The Resident shall continue ruling...

  • UR AWESOME

  • I suppose that when you're 30 something you've probably found yourself and have outgrown the age of alienation which prepares us for independence. All people probably experience the alienation phase no matter their situation in life. Will malcontents ever be truly happy? Or perfectionists? Coming to terms with one's life is the source of contentment.

  • nice camera

  • Rich people? Fuck em.

  • nice video.

  • You look like Anjelina zolley today. beautiful and hot..

  • the resident: i have manageable STDs and am 4'6". fuck my life!

i used to like to watch the jerry springer show because it made me feel better about myself. i was like, shit, my life really isn't so bad...

  • I really hate the "could be worse" saying. Well no shit? No matter what the situation is, it could always be worse. Doesn't mean that it shouldn't be better.

  • agree!

  • "what about me?" Benjamin Linus

    "what about you?" Jakop

  • You have a tumor in your throat !

    im serious!

  • Your adorable

  • Hey girrrrl! Be careful with all that less fortunate bullsh*t. All that does is foster complacency. I mean contentment is cool but the way it's framed sounds defeatist. It just seems ur confidence is a little shook, your answer is easy. U think a lot like a dude sometimes.

  • Well said, Lori

  • Great video Lori. There is always someone worse off than we are. So we do need to take a closer look at ourselves like you said and be more sympathetic to others.

  • Great attitude to have, I think. We're always looking for causality in events... the "why not me" attitude is a way of acknowledging the randomness of some events that could really happen to anybody.

Of course, some things happen because we fuck up. In that case, we should just accept responsibility for our predicaments.

  • We are blessed aren't we? Your lighting in this broadcast was exceptionally nice =)

  • Hi from your friend in Italy Prince GTO

It is a beautiful video and a sweet kiss from Italy

    I am happy because .....

    good video

    Bye

  • A great and sweet kiss

kis kiss beautiful girl from Prince GTO

  • You're cheating on Magibon with this floozy from New Yawk ?!?!?! Wait until I tell her !!!

  • Comment removed

  • Great philosophy - I think, "Why not me?" at least once a day. Mostly when I think about other people having sex.

  • I love how every thinks out side the U.S. when they think this i go back and think well i could have been in that building in 9/11 or i could be living at new orleans when KATRINA hit as well. I think these are more realalistic thoughts.

  • happiness i reckon is all about outlook

  • Have you become a Scientologist ? I pine for your Vonnegut phase.

  • You're right on as usual Lori. It can all be summed up in one word: tolerance. The human brain isn't designed to be satisfied all the time. It's designed to survive, which means always being motivated to have more and get more. We build up a tolerance to stimuli.

You're so right about the highs and lows balancing out. That's why I won't do ecstacy. XD

  • Next time you feel down Lori, Listen to Tony Robbins -=p

  • ohhh snap!

  • ( part 2) Happiness is temporary, like sadness, I strive for an overall feeling of contentment with my life. It renders "happiness" expectation real & manageable

  • Good message. We project "happiness" on the rich. Ive never heard a rich prsn say they were happy bcos of money.Their challenges just carry a heftier weight at times. Some happiness studies indicate that poorer nations rate far happier than Westerners cos of their appreciation for family & life. So the key seems to be what one Values.

  • Very true testing4, very true. We forgot our values in this country, and the importance of family. With the loss of community & rise of the internet, there are so many lonely,. alienated ppl out there. In this country, I don't know about other countries, we spend too much time running on the corporate wheel, and missing out on what's most important and rewarding.

  • Testing4echo, the rich just have different problems. When I was earning $50k a year, I had health insurance, but a great deal of stress in keeping my job. I was literally 6 months away from a stroke, my blood pressure was so high.

When I lost that job, I found one at $28k. Now I don't have hypertension, but I can't see a doctor or treat my back pain. Moral of the story? Life sucks, buy a helmet.

  • yes. thanks indeed for putting that set of perspective out. you are intelligent as you are stunning, dear lady:^) things have gotta change.

  • Comment removed

  • Great perspective! I have had the fortune/misfortune to experience live at a wide gamut of stations. I have found the key to avoidance of, or quick recovery from, a low is to always maintain a strong realization, fascination, and appreciation for the words "I am". Extend and compound that with the same for "we are" and "it is" and you've got a very potent tonic for all ills.

  • really nice!

  • In my experience rich people, when they aren't on drugs, are misrable and ethiopian bush people have love when they are not on drugs.

One child at one end of the mansion. One at the other. Dad off on a business trip with his secratary and mom in the bars chasing one night stands. The baby at the opars.

Compared to a family sitting around frying up some grains over an open fire and passing them around as they sing songs because they have no radio to do it for them.

    Life is choices.

  • "Life is choices. "

    Oh really??

So people choose to get born in third world countries? Or perhaps some of us choose to get hit by drunken drivers and be paralyzed for the rest of our life's? Or perhaps we get born with some defect that kills us before we even reach our fifth year.. Or maybe that child who got locked up in a basement (by her father) for 20 years will tell you what fine choices she had.. The list goes on.

  • "The list goes on."

Aren't you a f'in beam of light in dark place.

I guess the glass is half empty.

Here is something to cheer you up. watch?v=snNHErEbltc

The sins of the fathers are the sins of the sons.

  • Yeah, or perhaps the glass turned into a space shuttle and took off.

I'm just being realistic about this is all. Life simply isn't fair. There is no balance, no mystery. Except in the broader sense, but certainly not individually. Crooks get everything, the hardworking man usually gets shafted, etc.. But I guess if someone doesn't paint the fair, fluffy picture (ignoring the actual atrocities in the world), some people tend to feel attacked by it. Sad.

  • I agree with these thoughts on the subjected as well.

  • Good point. You are worth watching. I don't always agree with you but I like you none the less. Vlogs like this are particularly good. Thanks for doing them.

  • yeah!!! ok! got it! thanx?

  • "Life is a struggle; for if not, then we would make it a struggle. Where in the natural world would one find constant growth? Life is cycles; this is the inner workings of time"

    ~~cc

  • Smoke weed and your problems will drift away.

  • temporarily...

  • Everyone has their own life and their own problems to deal with. You have to deal with yours, just like they have to deal with theirs. Don't stay in a helpless situation just b/c others are having worse problems than you. If you adopt the "some have it worse than me," mentality, you'll just end up accepting your situation. You should deal with and overcome your problems. Rest assure, they're trying to better their situation, unless they have adopted the "some have it worse than me." philosophy.

  • thank you for this Miss Harfenist. I love these kinds of vlogs from you. They are very enlightening. =)

  • WHY ME? That is something I was asking last week as I struggle with unemployment, little food in the fridge, no gas in car, internet shut off (which you need to find work), phone off, and so on... and then I started to think... AM I WORTH MORE DEAD THAN ALIVE?

Then the news does a story here in Detroit of a shooting victim who was shot at 18 years old, can't walk, never found the shooter, YET she has continued to move forward. She is ALIVE and LIVING LIFE, and an INSPIRATION! so WHY NOT ME?

  • I do that all the time. Whenever life seems to suck I remember that it can always be worse. I also love your theory :3.

  • I work with sick children and seeing what they go through... and how they handle their illnesses, always keeps me in check. They have taught me many of life's lessons.

  • I admire your knowledge!

    You are amazing!

    No... Thank you!

  • I don't believe it. If you compare individually, some people generally have fun and rich life's (with noodle salads), while others have downright sh*tty ones (if any). It's ok, though, since in the grand scheme of things (nature) this balances out. Just don't expect fair game as an individual person (It's just your ego acting up ;)).

  • we all have enough reasons to be happy or down

is just a matter of choice IMO

  • You sure look pretty on this video REZ!

  • Love the theory of balance.

  • Thanks! I don't know if it's the case, but since we all feel both sometimes it made me wonder...

  • Happiness comes from the inside. I know people who are rich and do not experience true happiness. I know someone who is quite rich (millionaire x5). Beautiful wife etc.. but one short comment from him was very telling. He once said to me he was really grateful for all in his life but then said ..'but is that it?'.... money will not fulfill you. Inner peace and self love will.

  • So you're a utilitarian then, Lori?

  • The focus on this camera is awesome! Where it focuses on you and blurs out the background.

    5/5 like always!

  • Thanks, Cress! My camera man is happy with his new toy, haha.

  • I have a fair balance good times and bad 50-50. like you when I watch the news I think to myself my God you are blessed. And I start to feel quite postive about my life.

  • You selfish bitch. Just kidding =)-

    Money doesn't equal happiness.

    A clear conscious does.

Everyone gets depressed now an again.

So if thinking of starving children and mentally challenged snaps you out of it, so be it.

Just DON'T let it consume you, you'll never be able pick yourself back up.

    Peace

  • "Health is the greatest gift, contentment the greatest wealth, faithfulness the best relationship" - Buddha

  • Not a bad formula for a decent form of happiness:

Without thinking too hard about it, just accept who you are where you are right now, and then feel the gentle pleasure of being alive.

An Eckhart Tolle kind of thing, without the endless psychobabble.

  • US is not a good country is one wants to be happy. Try Denmark or the nordic countries, they are way happier on average.

  • wow the video quality is amazing

  • Your life, you name it.

Why comparing it to another ones life ?

On the search for excuses ?

  • Actually, if suicide statistics are any indication the very wealthy are pretty miserable compared to the middle class.

  • yes E. Tolle is right all these negative thoughts and stories that come through your mind are like waking dreams, they're not real.

and if that doesn't work just remember,I think you would look good even in a potato sack ha ha

  • I would like to try that "Rich" people theory out....Everyone send me money... I will report back!

  • I like how you are trying new things with your backgrrounds. Love it!!! Very cool looking. Keep it up!

    ~Vince

  • yayyy finally in hd!

  • i dont get this whole thing - rich equals happy - I wish people would just get over money, start thinking about people and not profit. Wont happen be happening in the US soon - come on Europe lead the way as is always the way

  • What Kind of camera do you use? This quality is Amazing

  • Word..

  • And the next step is to be thankful for all the good God gives you. Nice vid!

  • If only God was real and not make believe and a way for Christians to con people out of money......

  • Johncase7777, but it's the Christians who are giving the money. So that kind of blows your theory out of the water, doesn't it?

And why do athiests automatically go to Christians when they talk about God? Wouldn't your comment be equally applicable about Jews?

  • Why not Jews? Well I since some racism coming from you so I'll explain why I dote hate on the Jewish people unlike you.

Jewish people don't go around shoving the faith down peoples throat like christian. Christians care more about money and themselves and not others or *cough Jesus. And a quick look back at history will clearly show Christians have done more harm than Jewish people will ever do.

  • Jewish people commit just as much evil relative to the power they have as Christians do, or Muslims, or atheists, or blacks, whites, etc. Every human stereotype has its day.

  • My I.Q. just dropped 10 points after I read that.

  • new yorkers all think that way!?

    your vids rock!

    thanQ from japan, eLi〠

  • Do you guys have a new Camera or something. The recording is much better. And yes you are right (like almost always!) :)!

  • Short, sweet and profound not unlike 'The Resident' herself...

  • Nice Lori!

    HD is great!

  • :-)

  • If you were to put all your problems in a bag and then you placed the bag on a table with everyone else's and could pick up any bag, you would immediately snatch yours back. Why? We are only presented with the problems that we have the ability to overcome.

  • My darling mum always tells me " No matter how bad you think you have things in life there is always someone worse off than you so be grateful for what you have "

  • Keep on keepin' on Lori!

  • Why do you have to be so hot reporter hostess ??
