Eeeeeek! I hate this sound so much! I'm glad that whiteboard markers had been invented by the time I was at school. I wouldn't be able to learn anything with that horrid scratching and scraping sound in the background. Puts me on edge.

I like the sound of writing on a chalkboardd when the board is up against a wall, like most classrooms are/were. I agree with hailey, the banging of the chalk on the board is a little distracting against the rest of the sound.
