  • Ya, that's what I thought! I did a review of this and thought the same, and was told by people that I must've gotten a bad bottle. It was most definitely too thin for the whiskey.

Although not whisky barrel aged, Great Divide's Rumble oak-aged IPA was awesome, and that's a lower ABV!

  • @BeerichiTuba We don't get the Rumble here in my area. I'll keep an eye out whenever I'm out of town.

  • Sounds interesting. Just a side point, i prefer the old intro "I'm the Endosymbiosis and I talk about beer"

    Cheers Daniel!!

  • @NYRfan4ever I'll take your comment under advisement and talk about it in my next vlog. Cheers!

  • Sounds like a really interesting beer considering it's not the huge imperialized beer that typically sees bourbon barrels. From a technical stand point, it's kind of impressive that they bourbon barrel age a porter that low in ABV.

  • @StumpyJoeJr There are some beers that are literally "oak aged ales" and are basically malty pale ales aged in bourbon barrels -- the point being to make a beer that just tastes like bourbon.

  • I had a bottle of this from J ans was really unimpressed. I think it needed to be a bigger beer for sure

  • @BeerGeekNation The beer just doesn't quite stand up to the whiskey. It does get the mind spinning for homebrew ideas, though.

  • Good points. Adding too much flavour to a smaller beer can be a risky thing to pull off. Still, this sounds to me like it's really good, given my whisky interest.

  • @elharlock I'm definitely interested in anything that can give a good whiskey flavor without the intense alcoholic burn. This one just doesn't quite work the way I want it too.

  • Sounds pretty good. Great review as always. Cheers!!!

  • Is that a new tulip glass? Nice pour!

Yeah it's not a potent as KBS in the nose and palate, but it's playing more or less the same notes - just at a way lower volume.

Hazelnut coffee - hmm hadn't thought of that, but good observation.

I don't find the mouthfeel all that thin. It does psych you out because you keep thinking it's going to be a beast, but it's so drinkable.

This is one of my all-time favorite beers. It's amazing on tap (especially with a burger).

    Good review, man!

  • @ChadzBeerReviews I could see maybe liking this better with food. It's a solid beer but I didn't think the porter elements meshed all that well with the whiskey. If I ever see it locally I'll pick up another bottle just to try it again.

  • @TheEndosymbiosis I don't think you'll be seeing bottles in Michigan any time soon. I think they're mostly in the upstate NY area. You can always come out to Albany and have it on tap (or cask) and it'll be pretty amazing.

  • @ChadzBeerReviews If I'm ever in NY again I'll keep an eye out, is what I meant.

  • Interesting sounding beer. Cool review Daniel.

  • @BeerGogglesReviews Thanks. Definitely interesting.
