Poor Jerry. He was the victim, along with several other local newscasters across the country of a pre-internet urban legend. Penn folklorist Jan Harold Brunvand documented the story in one of his books. Hell, it got him out of Philadelphia and out to Hollywood. Not a bad deal.
@ccarozzo75 Yes...I was working the night they brought him into Osteopathic Hospital..the test tube with a gerbal in it and cocaine on it broke in his ass...
Great post, I remember Jerry Pennacoli. I actually liked KYW in the mid 80s more than Action News or WCAU, I know, Blasphemy! NBC had all of the great shows then from Cosby to Knight Rider and Saturday Night Live and Dead, TV stayed tuned on KYW NBC 3
This has been flagged as spam show
KYW's sister station WBZ-4 in Boston had People's Court at 5pm also back in the 80s

I agree: I thought "Bridge Across Time" was pretty good as TV movies go. Awesome VCR!

As a kid I rarely watched KYW. They barely had news on (2 hours per day), and whenever they were on, 6 was (the family would not watch anyone else).
Of course I preferred the overall look of 10 to everyone else...

How about that! 1:28 - Now I know that the Woolite commercial used the Stylistics tune as its jingle.
