Sweet job man, you make it look easy. I wish I had a Wah pedal. I'm using something similar to an autowah on Guitar Rig 5. It works, sounds relatively close.
Hey man, if you could do some John Frusciante lessons that would be awsome. I don't need to tell you how inspirational he is as far as blues/funk and rock go.
@okamasphere That's an ironic statement since "Under the Bridge" shows that Hendrix was very influential to Frusciante... and THIS is a Hendrix lesson! I think my brain just exploded!
I second that request if it helps any? When Frusciante was a kid his parents took him to a powwow. An all Indian band happened to be playing Little Wing. John couldn't understand how it was possible to play Little Wing with just one guitar because of Hendrix's amazing ability to play a chord with a harmony going on at the same time. I felt the same way when I first heard Hendrix. I just couldn't understand how one guy could put out all that sound by himself.
Hendrix says he picked it up from Curtis Mayfield. You should download some Curtis Mayfield to see what I mean. The song "Think" off of the Superfly album is one good example. Hendrix really brought it to another level though, he was "Hendrix" after all.
Under the Bridge and Soul to Squeeze by Frusciante have Hendrix written all over them.
Jimi revolutionized everything we know about guitars and how to make them sing. Many if not all musicians have heard his name. Keep rockin in the clouds jimi
@kevlarunderware Joe Satriani is actually pretty great, playing more melodic stuff rather than that insane crazy speed technique junk so many metal "shredders" prefer. and He Taught Steve Vai and Kirk Hammet of Metallica, which shows his superior command of guitar playing. I am a bigger fan of Hendrix and SRV, but Joe is an amazing guitar player.
Wow You're amazing. I've got some sounds comin' out my guitar that I never thought I'd hear for several years....Your an amazing guitarist and an inspirational teacher.
Hey man hows your living? I hope youre makin money so you can continue these lessons. They are the best guitar lessons I've ever had, youre a born teacher.
Anthony...GREAT VIDEO as always. I have a tone question for you: Besides the Custom Shop Texas Special pickups, what other options are out there to get that big, beefy mid, SRV tone??? Thanks for the help. To any others reading this...buy the videos from Steviesnacks....BEST MONEY I HAVE EVER SPENT. They got me playing things I never thought possible.
The best ones I've used(Witch happens to be on Anthony's special Legend Guitar) are "Lindy Fralin Vintage Hots" they're 220$ new and WAAAY better, WAAAAY fatter, and WAAAY more beefy than texas specials...
probably one of the most important things thats missing from this is your right hand technique.
Its nothing more than old bluesman and jazzer's playing their guitar like a high-hat. You keep the beat going with your hand, and dampen anything u don't want to hear, but instead have a percussive beat that goes along with the drummer.
It's there! It's in the sound! Very basic pattern. Check out the beginning about 1:45. No intricate picking or anything. Just simple rhythm strumming.
@fenderbender149 trust me dude you can find a way to make it work, mine are small too but if you work your hands enough you can get this caged style going to a degree.. guys like john mayer, frusciante, or hendrix all had/have big ass hands but that doesn't mean you can't pull off a similar sound
this is just like the lick or very much the same as category 4: lick 2 lesson 2 of the "5 box essential lick" I learn how to incorporate my thumb in playing/rocking out.... this is mind-blowing!!! thanx.
this lesson was fun but too easy. step it up! like the last vid you put out (Hendrix cord tricks)
These lessons should be featured on the YouTube front page! I have yt to come across more comprehensive and entertaining tutorials on YT and I have seen them all.
you might wanna check out user drixtone, he's not talking much about stuff but you he sometimes explains about the solos and you can really see "how to" and all, the guy is Angel Reca, definitely one of the most experienced players on youtube, his drixtone channel is for practice (lessons on bends and vibratos and some licks to learn), handtricks is his normal channel. My most favourite youtuber!
Yeah I think Anthony does it more like "how to" and explaining things, Angel is just a great player showing his technique from a close angle with some tips around it sometimes, but most of the time it's just as you knew "what" but wanna watch "how" exactly
lmao we got the same wah! XDD did you get the 2b version? I have previous A1 and it's great, although I can only use it on blues junior since I got a bad V1 tube on Ceriatone so it makes that scratchy noise when using pots (in wah too). But really great wah, has a nice quack, only if it had more bottom end. Maybe 2b has better...? congrats anyways :)
fantastic tutorial.
