  • My favorite master Shoji Nishio

  • Shoji Nishio Sensei is poetry in motion.

  • I saw him once, his movements were like a flash

  • And this is him going slow. Full speed kata are mind numbing.

  • The uke is Yoshida Sensei who now comes to the USA to teach Nishio Aikido at least once a year. I go to train with him every time he comes to the USA.

  • He is coming to santa monica, ca on Sept 26th and 27th 2009!

    Santa monica High School

  • @deez993 That is suprising to hear seeing as he died in 2005

  • @MrNormalton Always a good idea to read before you send.

My post was to inform that Yoshida Sensei was coming to Santa Monica, as he does every year to teach Nishio Sensei style. Look at the post above mine.

  • @deez993 How about you learn to construct proper sentences, or alternatively use the reply function and whilst you are at it develop a sense of humour? I knew who you were actually talking about Mr Touchy.

  • i wonder what a bujinkna master would think of aikido

  • Dr Hatsumi, would most likely have a great deal of respect for Nishio Sensei!

  • for aikido..

  • hmm one & the same for me, i see Nishio as the current pinnical of Aikido! {personal opinion}

I have studied both of the arts refered too & can see many similarities & also some adversly different approaches to the exicution of the techniques too!

It would be hard to decide which, if i could only study one!

Can be used in complimentary to each other, i believe!

  • i have not studied ninjutsu nor taijutsu but i think when it comes to taijutsu they are very similar and have principals that can connect to each other easly , i believe that taijutsu also is based on harmony but aikido has been just advertising this part of budo more. I enjoy watching the harmony and connections in bujinkan where people embrace the atack instead of atack it.

  • someone told me about this guy today. Thought I'd check it out. FANTASTIC!!

  • i noticed that his uke is cutting beside him

    a bit weird.. :-O

  • actualy the uke is cutting where nage WAS not where he is. This is normal and a result of the situation being training rather than actual combat.

In ken tai ken tekniques you will presume that you are one step infront of the opponent due to your ability to lead and predict the uke.

  • Very impressive Sensei indeed.

  • My idol ...
