  • THIS IS THE BEST SONG PUBLISHED BY A MAN WITH ONE HAND

    STUPID DONNNNNNK

    I LOVE THIS SONG

    IT IS MY LIFE

  • @BABBOSERGIO DISH GUY HAZ 2 HANDSH, BUT ONLY SHEVEN FINGAZ. YOU COCK SUCKING BABY RAPER!

  • FUCK OFF

  • @1960jimmy Their version of Body & Soul is soooo beautiful. The impression that their intro on Body & Soul always had on me was a synthesis of varying aspects of love. On one side is the elegance and other worldly granduer of being in love (Stephane's part). On the other side is the grit and rawness that also comes with love (Django's part). That kind of emotional union in the instrumentation and melody is, for me, a major part of what makes their version of Body & Soul just sublime.

  • Just as every nationality has it's beautiful women so does every instrument have it's beautiful master. The guitar is as common as the air we breath. I've been playing guitar for 33 years now and have always loved it. About 15 years ago I also became passionate about the electronic theater organ. The organ is also as common as dirt, but it is the most misunderstood instrument on the planet. watch the electronic theater organ (ETO) rendition of by HD7100 , I'll See You In My Dreams. It's a good 1

  • Stefan Grapelli was not on this recording. the studio wanted 2 minutes filling.

out of such mundabe occurences genius ocurs.

  • @mikebradshaw66

    You are extremely well-informed Sir.

According to Django's biographer Charles Delauney, that was exactly how this track came about. Delauney wrote a great book btw!

  • Granted, Django had only 2 usable fingers for playing guitar, that makes him even more special, I just wish I could grow up listening to his masterpieces :C

  • I don´t know why but It reminds me of Toy Story

  • @JoakoOvlack or monsters inc.

  • My all time favourite song by Django pure genius this song was made for the guitar

  • One dislike?? Someone doesn't have ANY dreams...

  • @FullMetalPumbaa

yep.. Amazing eh? Maybe if that someone learned the lyrics, that someone might acquire some dreams! :)

    Cheers MC

  • Beautiful.

  • My all time favourite piece of guitar music.

  • i'll play this in my dreams!

  • someone once told me God didn't exist, who then gave this man such an incredibly beautiful gift. and why don't we all have it??.

  • An absolute masterpiece. The tune is not lost in a demonstration of technique.A true musical genius.

  • that one guy/gal who disliked this is probably going to hell

  • Django showing an awesome turn of speed and hitting us with a staccato sequence of accentuated octaves next. He breaths, allows space. He never smothers with a continuum of notes. Toying with a phrase, he turns it inside out, exhausting possibilities, punctuating and accentuating then always moving on! The development of the solo is a Master Class in improvisation, to increasing levels of complexity and tension. He never compromises the integrity of his art by technique for its own sake.

  • who the hell thumbs down such a legend true genious musician and composer

  • This is absolutely beyond words. Youtube should have a repeat function though, I have to keep clicking on replay :))

  • Having just listened to what can only be called sheer mastery, I know understand why Django Reinhardt is considered the greatest guitarist of all time.

  • Awsome Song!

  • @juangie2101 This song was made for the guitar superb performance

  • @hermanuslinssen i would suggest then you terminate your life ,and donate your eardrums to medical research,to let some poor unfortunate enjoy the brilliance of this wonderful musician.

  • @barneyboscoe hahaah omfg this is not music XD

  • @hermanuslinssen Go fuck yourself you self oppinionated cunt

  • @barneyboscoe still this music is gay :P

  • @hermanuslinssen It's good to have opinions. But to call this "gay," this old classic that MANY people enjoy, is just out of line. You could've stated your opinion without being a complete jackass, you know.

  • @hermanuslinssen

    lol asshole

  • @barneyboscoe ignore him, he's an ignoramus.

  • great comments guys! Not my fav Django piece by a long shot... but still great, like all his music!

  • Not your favourite? Well fair enough, to each their own. However, when it comes to improvisations this is one of the accepted benchmarks for Djangophiles, A most inventive and melodic solo. You couldn't really wish to hear 'I'll See You in My Dreams.' improvised over much better than this, in the swing idiom. Don't forget, Django was obviously fully aware this was being recorded and he still took risks with this improvisation, and got 'off the ground'. One of his best!

    Cheers.

  • This is possibly one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written! Can't and will never get board of this!!!!!!!!!!!

  • =( this is beautiful

  • just didnt get a long enough life to get what he deserved....ALL TIME king of jazz guitar....his inventice melodies, soaring notes, bends, musical taste, just that kind of stuff that makes you cry, laugh all at the same time....this particular solo is particularly soulful...

  • stopped listenin to django bout a year ago to listen to all the electric guys - burrell, kessel, then just happened upon this...people say that christian was pioneering new jazz in the 40s, and wes invented octave playing? what about this man?? just made me realise again what a piece of heaven that his playing encapsulates....he had done it all before anyone else....he could do the whole electric thing and bop too....

  • this song always reminds me of woody allen films. That guy could make a movie!

  • the sonjg is great but i would prefer django images

  • much love to django! A cornerstone in music history.

  • Ya he's amazing!

and to think he only played with 2 fingers (plus his melted stubs)

  • thanks for sharing!

  • Man oh man what a tune!:)

  • the amount of money i would pay 2 see this kind of guitat playing nothing like it absolutley mind boggling!!

  • I know we all have different tastes in music but you have to admit he is somthing special

  • How good was that He was fantastic

  • best improvisation of django.. love it..

  • My favourite section is from 0:48 to 1:13

    simple, effective,beautifull.

  • Are you using the rest stroke? How are you stuck? is it the notes you cant get or the playing of it? I will try to help you. I use the rest stroke, which makes gypsy jazz easier to play,I play my own solo and use bits of Django and other gypsy players.

  • Absolutley brilliant. Sweet and Lowdown is'nt about Django, so there.

  • genius....

  • Have you seen Django Reinhardt's film by Woody Allen. It's available on Netflix. He was a great guitar player and quite hard to get along with.

  • It's called Sweet and Lowdown:]]

  • So it is! Thank You! Have you seen the movie. Sean Penn stars in it! A clip of him playing the guitar is on is on youtube under"Sweet and Lowdown."!

  • Ya I actually own the movie:] I tend to watch it from time to time:D My father's a pretty big Woody Allen fan.

  • I knew this bloke once, that could really play guitar. Pure magic to see his fingers literally, dance across the fret board. Trouble was, he. . . was a complete arsehole! He would simply rub everybody up the wrong way, without even having to say anything. Just his mannerisms would get under your skin. Truly, I even suspected his parents of hating him. Worst still, if there is a God, why would it give such incredible talent to a cretin like him? I'm sweet and likable, damn it! Oh well. . . :o)

  • is that from "Sweet and Lowdown"?

  • If your referring to what Ive written, then no. In the sense that I was equating the character played by the wonderful actor Sean Penn with a real live person that I once knew in London, then yes. :o) If not, feel free to ask me again only formulating it in a different fashion. Cheers!

  • 1:05-1:09 wow.

  • Beautiful Arpeggios, weren't they?

  • I don't know of any musician as talented as Django was. The ideas that came from his giant brain were endless.

  • At least 1 of gipsies done good

  • I guess you mean it in a positive way, but it can be understood in a negative way as well ! Django was a great artist and a pure genius, whatever his background. Beside that, he always been himself and never betrayed his community, but that's private life, isn't ?

  • So original, so brilliant. To be able to dream up these phrases as well as execute them is a wonder.

  • oh django<3

    :)

  • Sweet and lovely.

  • GENIUS

  • This sounds like heaven.

  • You're right, lol! For having a young dog, that's truely the very melody which goes perfectly with that kind of scenario! In my mind, I delightfully imagine it on an old black & white non-talking movie...:)

  • Django reinhardt is just the master no doubt bout i wish i could play like this

  • Only in my dreams will I be playing like that, AND EVEN THEN! I'll dream of playing with him in my dream.

  • ¡¡¡¡QUE GENIO!!!

    ¡¡¡¡¡Cuanta sensibilidad!!!

Realmente me pone los pelos de gallina

  • So beautiful; as the previous poster said, there are fresh ideas abound in this solo. Great use of motifs, as well. It's really amazing too that there was no precedent for Django to go by as far as guitarists before him, and yet he played at such an advanced level harmonically and technically.

  • Song reminds me of the music from the 60s :)

  • That song appears in Woody Allen's movie. " Sweet and Lowdown", about Emmet Ray's life.

  • what scales does he use in his songs?

  • He wasn't playing by scales. He was playing chordally. Instead of "fitting" certain scales to the chords he was using the chord tones as a foundation and playing passing notes in between. this approach is called vertical improvisation; basing your improvisation mainly on scales is called horizontal improvisation.

  • where can i learn to play this horizontal improvisation, sir?

  • #1 amazing, life is beautiful

the sky fascinates me as well :)

  • The best guitar solo of all time!!

  • Amazing

  • Zajebisty numer :D

  • best Song ever

  • certainly one of 'em! let us not forget mingus' 'devil woman' and miles' 'freddie freeloader'

  • Beautiful photos on a beautiful music..
