And it'll probably one of the few instances where this is the case. Most of this general kind of music grates my nerves beyond all comprehension, but this is at least tolerable.
Not bad for a midi version. As with all midi - it's too clean, no errors or human sounding innuendos. Voice synth is a little annoying, but strangely soothing at the same time, if that's possible. Well scored - very true to the original from CTTE.
@scitsalcoryp Agreed. Eventually all great things must have their close. Its not to say that the music won't live on, but it will obviously change. Hopefully in 200 years, people will still appreciate Yes for what their band was and appreciate the craftsmanship of the music
Not at all as good as the original, the music is exactly the same and the singing is a joke,... so what's the point of doing it over if it's going to be-- note for note the same. And have a cartoon edge to it?
this is beautiful, a combination that is clearly from someone who GETS IT. even the video animation is perfect. i need a high quality version, please. this is something that i have actually dreamed about, but had yet to create. I only wish that the part with the sitar was more emotional, or had arabic or eastern style singing. yes definately has a very eastern influence (side project named ASIA haha) and i really think that combined with contemporary japanese culture, great things can happen!!
Well, it's certainly an interesting version of this song! I have to admit, I like the original better, but I have to give a lot of credit to anyone who can even try to copy this song...and actually pull it off as well as they do.
Sounds really processed and mostly- if not entirely midi, but still not a bad cover. One or two parts translate weird rhythmically into Japanese but otherwise it sounds alright. A weird kinda techno-bar twist to a prog classic.
I think actually he has adapted the words into Japanese. God what a light and poppy sound. Like the funky asian space bar in some science fiction movie.
>someone who doesn't know English went by phonetics
No pun intended, but yes.
And that's GOOD.
See, this is my fave yes song & one of my top 5 ever. But the lyrics are completely meaningless. I used to hate that, but now I know that it's so you pay attention, not to words, but to THE FEELING.
That lesson generalizes. GOD I wish I knew it in 1973.
This guy loves the song as much as I do, and his work here emphasizes the TRUE meaning, beyond words, at the core of what you really are.
@FayeKane I agree, this is such a beautifully constructed piece of music, no matter what flavor it is given if the essence and some of the quality of the original is re-created the unique emotional quality of this prog masterpiece is sure to manifest. - R lee W
I love the idea, but the synthesized voice could have done a lot better job re-creating the lyrics. I assume this was put together by someone whose first language isn't English and just went by phonetics, rather than the actual lyrics. Unfortunately, it shows. The music is wonderfully executed, though.
This is really kind of impressive. And suprisingly fun to listen to. Is the guitar pure software? Notes played on a real guitar or "drawn" into the file? I find the only things I really miss are Andersons' voice and the distinctive "ring" of Brufords' snare drum. The string sounds are actually richer and smoother than the original recording though!
Thought I'd let you know what that guy was saying in Japanese:
The instrumental reproduction is amazing (especially that of John Howe's guitar). The chorus is great too. I have absolutely no idea what the words mean though!
Sorry dude. Musta been a little over scotched at the moment. dunno why i said john. Least I didn't spell it Jon! BTW, howe's the old guy doin' these days.
It's a synthesized voice program called "Vocaloids". This is one of them, Hatsune Miku ;)
People often use them to sing techno-pop and para-para songs, but there are some crazy dudes (in the best meaning of the word) that make them sing these masterpieces XD
Twisted Sister isn't anything like Yes. How can you compare the two. And Yes is one of the greatest bands of all-time. I know one Twisted Sister song.......that's it! That shows how memarble they are.
I cant believe you think twisted sister compares to Yes! Not to mention Yes is among the most talented bands ever. Maybe you shouldnt watch an asain imitation video of Yes if you want to talk about this group.

For another, Yes' music is far harder to play. If you were a musician or knew anything about music you would know that. Idiot.
Pretty well done, the instrumentation is very faithful but even though I'm comfortable with japanese singing I can't help thinking vocals on this are kind of hilarious.
not sure if this is true, but i thought that japanese couldn't do the "L" sound and then I hear "liver lunning" , must be a reference to CttE's lyrics (kidding).
The instrumental aspects are actually an improvement! The chords are broadened, and I actually prefer it (your understanding of chord structure is stellar). The vocals, of course, are in another galaxy and take some adjustment in taste, but, overall, I love it. Sound quality is surprisingly good by Youtube standards. It's a kick to hear this interpretation, and I'm sure "the guys" will find it fun.
Very enjoyable, and it's always great to see the energy of Yes music light our universe.
Well done.

Am a hard core YES fanatic....No one else will 'dare' to say it so i will .
It is better than the original !
well at least it is totally a fresh take on a dusty song....
face it YES is a fragmented band..always some internal shit going on..that' s where all the brilliance comes from..or goes out..
Their current mess is continuation of said story..
Yes isn' t Yes without Jon , and frankly that is why their audiences are dwindling
People get tired of the BS after a while...35 years here....
