  • Ya you need to lean it out a bit more! Nice engine

  • @mehendricks6 Yes, I got it right after a little bit of trial and error, I don't run them that much! Thank you.

  • Nice engine, its good to see more people are into the old ones. Your going to hurt that engine if you keep reving it like that.

  • Nice Model A you have there. I have one with the crank handle and im haveing lots of trouble with my carb. it sa updraft and I had carb issues but I found one that will work in its place. yours really sounds good at high rpm, its a beast!!! mine needs work but its not tired just carb issues. The black paint job looks outstanding..

  • ha ha this video is on google and featured on a website about Briggs

  • Thanks!

  • nice i like it running very rich but still kinda cool how it kicks and sputters

  • Thanks for stopping by!

  • @Hallaran no problem! i got my own work cut out for me and its a briggs and stratton I/C 12.5HP engine and its the older one and shes a beast!

  • sounds good at the end i saw it looked pretty much wide open no easy over revving this baby you seems like you have to try to blow it up and if some one does achieve blowing this model engine up then they are an idiot un like the little 6s and 5s models with the light fly wheel they blow up in seconds well mine hung on for 7 seconds before i was able to kill it it ran away on me

  • Glad it is not running rich anymore! How is the truck coming along?

  • thanks for asking long story to long to write here ill PM you but i have to drop the tranny agian new vids up soon of the new damage. hope damage is good for rateings! hopefully not to much carnage not good for my wallet!

  • Good luck with the trans, I remember years ago replacing one in the winter time, I think I almost froze and my fingers were too stiff to turn bolts!

  • A good running Model A should take off to about 1800-2000 rpm once you let off the choke and then immediately slow down once the governor kicks in. I used to have one (1939 model with aluminum head, spent only $8 for it!).

  • Sounds like you found a good value. I will read the repair manual and try to reset the low speed rpm. By the way I need to get a tach!

  • Come on Jack, you gotta have some C-clamps in that garage. We would hate to see it bounce on to the floor, especially after you just restored it. BTW great looking restoration.

  • You are right, I should have secured it a little better! Your engines look great, did you build them?

  • i just bought one today! now i have 2 5 digit A's. one has a flojet carb though. so its a later 5digit. thats a nice runner!!! hope both of mine run that good!

  • I see you got them there, good going! You probably know you can pick up a choke on Ebay. I think they ask too much for them though.

  • yeah i got one of them running. i have to cut the flywheel nut on the other, all because the spark wire is shortingout behind the flywheel. and yeah your not kidding $40 for a choke geesum! ill make my own for less

  • Found a short? Sometimes finding the problem is half the battle! Really, some of those parts on Ebay are too high in price, I hear ya.

  • well you can see someone else couldent get the flywheel off to replace the spark wire so they spliced another wire on. i can hear it arcing behind the flywheel when i turn the engine over so i know the magneto is good.

  • I hear you! Once I ruined a flywheel trying to get it off.

That really was an exception because only 1 out of 100 are difficult. Usually one good solid tap with a lead hammer on the side of the flywheel does it. Good detective work on finding the short.

  • hopefully all goes well.

  • That is a VERY nice engine!!!! Great restoration man!! I want to find one of those older B&S engines, but even the ones that don't run are VERY expensive!

    Anyways, great vid man!!

  • Keep looking! Try Harry's old engine and Ebay. It is worth it to go to the Portland show in Indiana, (if you live close enough).

  • Nice engine and restoration. Ya had her red lining there for a few seconds. Whats your serial#?

  • Thanks. The serial is 12312. I think I will put a new float and gaskets in the carb. I like the way this muffler sounds, I got it from CPC reproductions, (although the paint peeled off the bottom rather quickly).
