  • And Arthur never went "Christian"...I knew the guy.

  • I can't stand when people ruin such a great pairing with a bunch of their own pictures, I mean really. Why do that??? IT'S SO DAMN LAME!!!! thanks god I don't have to look at this.

  • The music is ok, love it !!! but the visuals...they suck !!!!!

  • It was also released as a 45rpm on the Harvest label, back in 1971. It has to be said...those photos...gross!!!! 10 for sound...big fat zero for visuals.

  • id rather have looked at a blank black screen than the pics you chose....fail on pics bud

  • awesome

  • never before released? Long-since released- "False Start"

  • hahaha the most random pictures

  • this was released on the early 70's love album false start

  • these pictures are like a good soap opera...so bad u can't help enjoying it

  • Love are my favourite band. Shame Arthur went a bit christian.

  • the music its terrific but the pic a biggest bullshit than someone woulchoise to crap out a good song

  • hahahaha look at those pictures!!! and mr most thumbs up and his 47 friends don't get that it's a joke!! FUCK OFF MATE! great upload

  • BlockerMedia...i believe you,the last part doesn't even sound like Jimi.

  • most of those featured in the video you would only desire to know if they had your bail money

  • Seriously, what is with this pictures in this video? Fantastic song, crappy vid.

  • @andpyramids i believe its footage from the athens ga boybutante ball an anual oh annual drag fest with good tunes behind them

  • This was released. This is on the False Start Album.

  • wat een geniale clip!

is het thema raar omdat het een "rare demo" is ofzo?

  • Amazing thing to have been the 17 year old drummer on this amazing piece of history. I bet you have other stories that, I for one, would love to hear. Thanks for sharing in the provenance of this piece.

  • The main part of this was released donkey's years ago on Blue Thumb records, I've got the old vinyl copy. Jimi plays on another song, Stand Out? Not sure.

  • The first couple minutes might be Hendrix. Hendrix wasn't a chittlin' circuit bluesman. He was a modern club, record, and concert kind of performer. This is some patch-together job.

  • @lightlyone The first song is definately Hendrix. Called Everlasting First, recorded with Arthur Lee & Love 1970 co-written by Jimi, the complete version is on the new box set West Coast Seattle Boy. Love it! The 2nd track sounds like Jimi & I assume with Lee & Love again. Never heard that one before.

  • its hendrix playin for sure just listen

  • its a pity the beauty of the music has been a little "soiled" by the photos of all those heavy metal phonies!

  • 3:00 ha

  • nice vid

  • This music is great and the photos are unbelievably stupid

  • That ain't Jimi.

  • Wtf? Manowar? B.B. King LOL

  • wtf!

  • Are you sure that's Hendrix? Sounds abit restrained to me.

  • OK, the guitarist from 2:58 to the end is Melvan. What about up to 2:58? I'm confused. Is Hendrix playing here?

  • @titostacos

    Yeah

  • this was released in 1972 on the false start album

  • the worst choice of photographs i'v ever seen..

  • great music, fuck pictures , fuck 50cent!

  • stupid!!!!

  • so will ich mal n gitarrensolo herzaubern :-)

  • Blocker, that's an absolutely amazing story. Even Arthur Lee talked about Hendrix on this track on video before he died. What else did you do?

  • People look so so dumb a lot lot lot of the time LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE X LOVE+LOVE=LOVE x

  • 1:10, that's pretty much what I think of this video! What the hell do these photos have to do with Arthur Lee, Love, Hendrix, or ANYTHING?!

  • One of my all time favorite Love songs.

  • Jimi and Arthur what a supergroup that could have been? Crap photos>

    Check out "Lobelia Sound"

  • is that jana mitchell at 2;36

  • WTF

  • yeah

  • who the hell is on the photos? wtf?

  • That guitarist on the edit from 2.58 to the end is not Hendrix...It is Melvan Ransom Whittington lll known at the time as Melvan Wonder. From an unreleased recording called "Black Beauty". I know this because I was the 17 year old drummer on the record. When we toured with Clapton he used to stand at the side of the stage just to watch Melvan. He told me he loved the feel of Melvan's playing.... Same RnB and Blues Chittlin circuit roots fas Hendrix or those of you who know.

  • @BlockerMedia cool :)

  • @BlockerMedia

wonderful info there buddy! and lovely playing! well done! you are a lucky guy to have taken part in this beautiful oddesy!

  • @BlockerMedia

    Pr@tt.

Someone is going to edit 20 seconds of an unreleased demo......for Why ?

    gET A LIFE MAN !

  • @BlockerMedia right on.

  • this was released on False Start

  • @murasakiryu

    Yes

  • good song

  • this song w/Hendrix is on the Rino Box set

  • This is crazy A brilliant track - Hendrix & Love.

    Blocked in the UK.

And some really wannabe snaps of Z-lists.

Does this have a deeper meaning :-)

  • this is a track off the false start album by love.

  • Great song, but who are all these white people?

  • ahh,they'll be the gays.

  • incredible!!! thank you so much for this hidden gem!!!

  • such a nice compilation of pictures , it totally fits with the music

  • how right you are

  • @thmszapp That's gotta be sarcasm-

  • thank you for posting. I cannot understand why people comment on the video. maybe the music too deep and they trip out or something...strange.

  • btw - The Arthur Lee I met and conversed with in the early '90s was warm, polite and generous. An example of the latter was his response to my suggestion that he recreate in his performances what for me was a magical moment - a solo acoustic segment that had engendered a beautiful, heart-felt, spontaneous audience participation on "Andmoreagain" at the 10/1/93 NYC concert at The Grand.

However, Arthur was much more concerned that his band members get their play time.

  • This is not to say that Arthur's mecurial temperment didn't make him periodically obnoxious and/or violent. But the severity of Arthur's sentence was a consequence of the ill-conceived, draconian three-strike law that - along with mandatory sentencing - has many imprisoned for prolonged periods (not just the hardened criminals for whom it was intended) who don't just don't belong there.

Arthur's third strike was shooting a gun in the air after arguing with a neighbor.

  • Arthur Lee died of complications from acute myeloid leukemia

    OBITS:

I've tried a dozen times to post links to several interesting obits. I quit. Try googling Arthur Lee died. Hope THIS gets through!

  • Yes, I agree and he didn't even shoot the gun. An acquaintance from New Zealand did the deed and came to court and told the judge. The judge didn't care and he sentenced Arthur anyway...

  • I used to hang a bit with Velvert Turner in NYC in the late '60s & early '70s. He once told me "It's too bad you can't sing my songs." Much later I realized he was probably too shy to ask directly, and I was too dumb to realize he was asking. Ah, well! I never actually got to hear him play, but he once introduced me to Jimi.

  • ha ha random pics are hilarious. Don't worry- people suck, the video you made is great.

  • the last song... that riff is pure bold as love...

  • Hahaha! I love everyone's getting pissed off at the random pictures. I think it's brilliant! You are a genius.

  • ??????????????????????

  • What is your idea when you show a picture of 50 cent!?

  • The music is great..the video is totally inappropriate for this! Try again reposting with some authentic 1960's images...please!

  • fuck you for caring.

  • There is a whole album and a half worth of Jimi and Arthur recorded at Olympia Studios, London in 1970. A guy who had a store at Kensington Market had an acetate and played me some - mostly jamming with George Survanovich on Drums.

Arthur's estate will likely have title to these tapes but they probably need some work on them to bring them up to par. Better release something of them soon, though, or the tapes may deteriorate.

  • the music is great just hate the video

  • this isn't rare, but nice that people get to hear it here.

  • possibly the worst you tube vid ever. self obsessed litte s***s

  • the music is gr8!

  • Jimi loved Randy California's music. He was the "other" player to be teamed up with Winwood...I got a line on that babe! I also have a Hendriz - Lee cut of EZ Rider. Ya know, all of this arguing, like it's a pissing contest is jejune. Enjoy tha music.

  • Don't have "False Start," but may have to get it for this cut. Adore "Forever Changes"...played it just last night...fab CD.

  • c'est quoi ces photos de mes 2 !!!

    u suck!!!

  • man on man, there was so true moments of brilliance in these cuts. if these guys couldve somehow got together & really did some lengthy work, each wouldve done these best work. you can hear it in these short spurts, how well they compliment there unique gifts. lee really knew how to groove on jimi's vibe & few can say that. there backgrounds were similiar & their eclectic tastes in music similiar. sadly, both & too many time & legal contraints, not to mention drowing in waves of dope.

  • Why try to fuck up the song by adding ur stupid pictures. This is not a fuking joke man.

  • JP..................;)

  • I was fortunate to see Arthur many times live ... he was a true genius. Don't know about the Never Released tag on this video though. This song appears on Love's False Start album

  • Damn was that quite a picture show!! good job!

  • great music, crap pictures...

  • @TitanicTarn TOTALLY AGREE GET THOSE PICTURES OFF...and just have HENDRIX AND ARTHUR

  • this is on LOVE, false start. hendrix last studio recording, i think. hendrix was heavily influenced by arthur lee.

  • Also Hendrix was into and really dug Steve Winwood ... who wouldn't ... just the master of his idiom ... pity he got thrown aside ... what a loss. Nothing better than Had to Cry Today.

  • @gitsirius Hendrix's last studio recording was Belly Button Window on Aug 22 1970. This was recorded in March 1970.

  • Very gay... but otherwise great & awesome musically. I love the first couple lines of lyrics with the music. There is some true magic here. Arthur Lee & Jimi should have had a super band together. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN SICK!!!

  • Anyone paired with jimi would have been a super band. Jimi=superband

  • looks like midwest great great song

  • very nice googlism, check my channel for more googles!

  • great tune but the photo album shows images i'd just as soon not have floating about my poor head...couldn't we have just had a nice montage of lee/hendrix photos?

  • What a great demo. I dig it. I do know Arthur once spoke laughingly about comparing his guitar playing with the great Jimi Hendrix. He was a dead honest guy ... which is why he was never really commercial successful and spent time in jail. One thing we are good at in America -- well actually were #1 in the world at it -- is incarcerating our own people. This artist did not deserve the treatment he got. Rest in peace, Arthur and Jimi.

  • arthur lee was in jail due to CA third strike laws and for shooting at a girl friend in his apartment. so, if one thing is clear it is this: he was NOT in jail for being a "dead honest guy". love the man, but for his music, not his behaviour...

  • and you believe the Courts of course, and the corrupt police ... sorry, I don't buy it ... don't pretend that an arrest and conviction has anything to do with anyone's character ... you roll up fourteen federal warrants for your arrest pretty quickly ... just take a politcal stand, and watch!

  • I don`t disagree with your judgement per se. I love arthur lee, but interviews, biographies and film material shows him to have been highly original, but also outspoken to the point of arrogance. I for one would not have chosen to disagree with a drunken or drugged arthur lee - especially if he were simultaneously wielding a firearm...

  • also, "the everlasting first" is not a demo, but a track from LOVE`s 1970 album "false start"; it actually opens the album in fine manner...but the action unfortunately peters out a bit after that.

  • ti coddidi

  • this song appears in love lp FALSE START.

  • I like it!

  • Oh my God, at least have pictures of Arthur and Jimi, what is that shit. Great song though, Jimi and Arthur were both whicked!!!

  • any proof that this is jimi and arthur?

  • Proof?!?! You are obviously not a very big Arthur Lee or Jimi Hendrix fan. I'll fill you in. Get False Start and that's all the proof you need. Or maybe just listen closely to song and there is all the proof you need.

  • the pics are ridiculous. Music is good

  • Yeah I definately could gone without the pictures. I just looked up other stuff.

  • fuckin tw3ats

  • please repost with no pics like this

  • Dude, you might have some obscure images in there, but that doesn't make it funny or clever. If you were really creative, you'd write your own tune to accompany this nonsense. This half-baked jam is pretty close to the worst thing those two greats played on.

  • Comment removed

  • song's good - images suck.

  • YEAH VELVERT TURNER WAS A COOL GUY>>>>>>Sunset Slim

  • anyone ever heard The Velt Turner Group?

  • is this really arthur lee and jimi? or not Im really confused

  • Best Video Clip EVER!!

    thanks.

  • Jimi played on Arthurs My Diary, tho he only ever wrote that song (Rosa Lee Brooks sang it)

  • Dude, what on earth do any of these images have to do with Arthur Lee???? Goths? Semi-naked fat guys? Wanna-be punkers? Hair bands? Emo chicks? Is this a video showing how far we have FALLEN from the great talents of the past like Love and Jimi Hendrix????

  • Jimi only played on Everlasting First definite! This is very well documented on various Love related sites. There are session lists of musicians for the album which quite clearly state who was on what. Art & Jimi did cut some other, as yet unreleased, tracks but most people quoted as ever hearing any of them way back at the time before they went missing stated that they were JUST jams really.

  • never mind "false start" more like False advertising! Top marks for adding a bit more Arthur Lee to Youtube but please get your facts straight

  • Liars suck. Liars who crave attention suck even more.

  • phil lynott is shite, what an insult to arthur lee, the most underrated singer/songwriter of all time!

  • Damn, Phil Lynott reminds me of Arthur Lee!

  • never released before?

apart from being track 1 on false start you mean...?

last minute is 'midnight sun' from the 'black beauty' album---and doesn't feature hendrix..

  • Does Hendrix play on Slick Dick?

  • nope.

  • I hate to ask again-- I have referenced several sources- its about 60-40 that Jimi did not play on Ride that Vibration and Slick Dick-- is there anyway to know definatively?

  • the fact that it doesn't say he does on the album credits is a pretty big clue....

jimi had died by the time the album came out and if he played on 3 songs rather than 1 on the album you better believe they'd milk it...

  • Bad-Assed !!! Wherez the rest ? When did Jimi even have time to do this ? !! Damn,Authur reminds me of Phil Lynott,i love this, thanx for posting,my 1st time hearing Authur Lee,have only read about him.

  • Excuse me.. Arthur reminds you of Phil? No disrespect to Phil but as many say "Arthur Lee is GOD"
