to the author of the video ...my friend... I own same set but I have a problem I smell smoke from the woofers when they kick a bit harder I have ported enclosure. Where is the problem? I smell the voice coil from those subzz.. I set up the gain properly usnig Multi volometer 32V at 2 ohm and the problem still exist I think it is over for my subzz every time when I play music like hip hop rap with a bit bigger bass I smell from the air outlet a smoke...sooner or later they will die I guess

The Woofer is just a newer version, can handle more power, thus making them louder and hit deeper notes.

I have 2 of the 12w3v3 on a JL JX 1000w amp, they pound hard and don't bottom out on high bass songs, having the right amp is only half of it, you have to know how to set everything right too

I got the same subs, a 500w monoblock amp, in a sealed box... I'm putting it in a ported box when I get the money, but it sounds decent for now. I'll get the new box when I get the money to Dynamat the trunk and shit.

Nice setup!! I just have a quick question., I have almost the same exact setup in a very similar car..I have a 03 Galant...anyway I have the same subs...same head unit. The only difference is that I have a JL Audio HD 750/1 and it pounds really good, but it took a shit on me...I'm just don't think the HD amps can handle prolonged abuse..haha!! But it looks like your 500/1 V2 is making your set of 12W3's pound easily!! Can you tell me any more details about what you think of it?

@damon323 oh damn man hah maybe nott.. but yeah i had just got the 500/1 v2 when i posted this video cause before that. i had the first series 500/1 and it fried on me after 2 years and 2 months which really sucked. but this amp is very good and powers these subs well. it hits hard and clean which impresses a lot of people. only thing that sucks bout cars tho is the trunk rattles a lot and i really dont have time or money to fork over for stopping that hah im sure you know how it is.

@cdc2166 but yeah man the amp is great. just hopefully it doesnt fry like the last one. i also picked up a Boss 3.5 farad to help with headlight dimming and it works very well. better on alt and batter,. but yeah let me know if u have any questions about head unit configurations with the sound cause i figured out what was good.

@cdc2166 ..Right on Bro!! But auctually I have good news..I got my HD750/1 amp working perfect now!! I learned NOT to use those cheap glass fuses and switched to a ANL fuse block next to my battery and now Im all good!! My 12W3V3's POUND now!!! Sorry to hear your amp took a shit on you after 2 years!! Usually that never happens with JL Audio!! But yeah, I know what you mean about trying to get the trunk to stop rattling!! I cushoned my licience plate, which was making most of the noise.

what is the size of the sealed box that you are using and what are your dials set at on your amp....i have the same setup but its just not hitting hard enough to where my rear view mirror is shaking like yours.

you need to set your filter on low pass....turn your 12 db filter on at either 100 to 200hzs, set your bass q at between 1.2 and 2.7 center frequency between 40 and 60 and your db between 10 and 15db...Then set your gain properly and tell me how good it pounds...then post a new video....It will make a huge difference bro....You cant blow them subs...you could beat them subs to death with a 1000/1v2 amp

Nice setup man but underpowering those subs. They do 500w Rms and 1000w peak. I have one 12w3v3 running off jl 500w mono amp.

I agree i may be under powering them a tiny bit but if you check out the JL w3v3 Subwoofer page on JL audio's website, the optimum performance level for the 12 w3v3 is 300 Watts, so i figure 250 JL watts each subwoofer is pretty close to that suggestion.

On the other hand, your setup with 500 Watts to one 12 w3v3 puts your subwoofer closer to the "danger zone"
