@okaecoral Albanians, as many other invaded nations, might have fought for the Ottoman empire; however, it's not because they wanted to--it was because they were forced to--and that makes a huge difference. Though I'm not aware of Albanians being particularly significant. Anyways, nowadays we're having much better relations with Turkey than, say, 100 years ago, and it's really good that we've overcome all those years of conflict and now support each other.

However, I would like to say; although, the Ottoman practice of devshirmeh (Tribute of Children) can be viewed as shocking, looking back at history, some of the most notable Balkan figures grew up in the system (i.e Vlad Tepes(h), Skenderbeg, Radu Cel Frumos, etc.). Hence, a lot of Albanians grew in military skill and todays Navy Seals/ Secret forces use the Janissary system as a model template. Not bad for a small country

However, to make strides in effort put Haradinaj in government or even as prime minister is wrong, especially as his trial is ongoing. However, I'd like to remind you that, unless proved otherwise, a person shall not be considered guilty, and that's what people in Kosovo have done-- they have kept believing in those that led them through war and struggle.
