I have a set of these from video which are pretty poor but somehow picture quality didnt seem to matter. Most are wonderful and when the good news is that the complete series is to be released in the uk in the summer of 2012. I hope in time for the olympics coz then we will all have somethin decent to watch.heh heh. I intend to purchase them myself as I will be so very happy to see these in quality condition. Herbert Lom makes this show so so cool. A great actor indeed.
It's wonderful to see this stylish opening once more. British films of the 50s and 60s with Herbert Lom in the credits are always a must for me - the bigger his part the more the picture gains. I would particularly recommend Dassin's 'Night and the City' where he is up against Richard Widmark to great effect.
The Pink Panther films hardly stretched his enormous talent.
wow to see this again!!! sad and happy I was 9 sitting round the fire with my mum dad brother and dog .Found it unnerving!!!Great to hear the music ,thanks for sharing
This looks like it was an exceptionally intelligent & well-made program. Too bad it was never shown over here in the U.S. Herbert Lom has always been one of my favorite actors. Always so suave, sophisticated, deboniar & urbane. This show was the last TV/movie credit for Welsh-born actress Peggy Cummins, who is best know for two classics: the American film noir "Gun Crazy" & the British-produced horror movie "Night of the Demon" ( one of the most intelligent films ever made of that genre).
How right you are, O' Spiffy One! The beautiful & talented Ms Cummins was indeed in "Hell Drivers", opposite the equally talented Mr Lom & the late great Sir Stanley Baker. In fact, the whole movie is available here at youtube. I watched it a few months ago...VERY good British drama! I highly recommend it....many thanks for your comment! Hope you have a weekend that's strictly from coolsville, daddy-o! :)
I had a little chuckle to myself a few years back when I had to go to Harley Street for a Medical check up and found myself at Dr. Corder,s address. I asked for Dr. Corder and the mature receptionist wasn't amused.
how very strange . .thats the one that stayed with me all these years . . and what about that introduction? look at Mad Men now . slim suit, pencil tie, pocket handkerchief . . incredible style!
that episode was called Struggle for a Mind, Joan became a stripper to pay for an operation for her father but when he found out he disowned her, leading to her breakdown, search google for individual episode details and you will find black and white still photos of this episode dated 20.2.65
I remember watching an episode when I was about 9-years old, when Joan Collins performed a striptease on the London underground. That has always stayed with me.
another one of my fav tv shows. i was very much into reel to reel tape recording then and used to love the opening shot of corder opening that draw and there, the tape recored. thanks
I totally agree. Especially after having just watched a whole episode that was posted here at youtube earlier this month. No wonder Herbert Lom is one of my favorite actors; he's always been so smooth, intelligent, suave, intelligent & debonair!
We were all doing A level PHYSICS/CHEMISTRY and BIOLOGY to go into Medicine ...... and we loved this very camp look into Psychiatry. Lancashire Lass may have had a crush on the adorable Herbert Lom but we lads were CRAZZZZY (in a psychiatric way !!!!!!!!!) about his uncontrollable daughter !!!!!!
Thank you so much for putting a glimse of this wonderful series..i had a megga crush in my younger years on The good Dr...and am not ashamed to say it!:0)
As it's a filmed series, it doesn't have one. It would probably be played in by the transmission controller at the time of broadcast. It's the same deal as The Avengers, filmed series, so no ident on the print.

I remember this series, too. Especially the episode featuring Joan Collins. Haunting theme music.
The aeroplane in this film appears to be a Supermarine Swift: I wonder if they reused the same footage shot for David Lean's film 'The Sound Barrier'?

That's the first time I've seen this, well the title sequence anyway since the early 1960s. Feels like only last week. Strange!

loved this series, does anyone remember the episode with the female ice skater who used to imagine the ice was cracked while she skated?

Even with this short clip, the quality of the series is apparent. I too would love to see the entire 26 episodes.

Herbert Lom is great. I loved this series! Far different here to his portrayal of Chief Insp. Dreyfuss in "The Pink Panther'.
