Brazos APU beat by a large margin the dual-core Atom + ION2 system. Don't belive in all the benchmarks because they don't show the real results of real use. The only benchmark that is unquestionable on any system is gamming, in terms of computing in every sense. Don't speak only about the raw power, because the everyday use is becoming much more multitasking then single heavy computing. What AMD acomplished here is very usefull today. Point is AMD will be much cheaper, long battery life and you don't need dedicated graphics(100+ euros), llano IGP is pretty fast but if you are a "true gamer" then by laptop 1000+ euro. i7 2630qm will be for sure faster then llano in CPU benchmarks (llano is K10.5+ architecture ). If you need to render and all that heavy stuff then buy intel and keep in mind your laptop will be hott (cpu temp 90C in load), desktops are for this heavy load stuff. llano is a good deal to me.

power consumption is 'almost' everything for laptops. who the heck wants to recharge their laptop every 2 hours when there is another option which allows 9+ hours between each recharge? 19w power consumption for a CPU and GPU on the same die, along with great raw performance is pure awesome.

@winintelati This comparison was made over half a year ago so it "was" considered fair at the time that this video was posted. The new generation of laptop CPUs from Intel did not come out (or became mainstream) until a couple of months ago.
@YTqui It's not 19watts for the CPU and GPU. The CPU wasn't doing anything... All of the load was on the GPU, meaning if the CPU was under load as well the power would go up to the levels of the i5. Not to mention that the i5 is a more powerful CPU by far than the APU above. The i5's graphics chip was not being used at all in this clip, either.

Power consumption is a big deal for notebooks. The amount of power that a CPU consumes also affects the temperatures.
You wouldn't want a laptop which has a CPU which has a max TDP of 125W would you?
Your battery life would suck ass and your temperatures would be extremely bad.
