  • Kevin sang the words wrong on the last line of verse 2... oh well... he still kicks ass

  • Just look who was playing what guitar! Styx and REO swaped out !

  • I'd give @Obamas_Left_Nut to see that show!!!

  • I got to see them do this together twice, amazing!

  • WOW They sound great!

  • yeah.......

  • 1:05 2 bass players thinking -'damn we have an easy life' LOL

  • awesome

  • Sweet!!!!!

  • styx without dennis deyoung is just a cover band. reo without gary is not the same

  • @balancepiston try life without focusing on the negative. It's great

  • Kevin screwed up the lyrics

  • is Tommy a better guitarist than James???Who is typically lead and who is rhythym? Tommy did a smoking lead!

  • So glad that Styx invited Lawrence Gowan to join them. Saw them (with Gowan and not DeYoung) in Kitchener in 2001. Blew the roof off the place

  • this rocks my boat awesome!

  • Nobody gives Lawrence Gowan the credit he deserves for replacing Dennis DeYoung on keyboards and vocals. REO and Styx are still going strong. They aren't a couple of old bands thrown together to embark on an "old-timers" tour. Hitt and Amato have been with REO for about 20 years. Gowan has been with Styx for at least 15 years. A few years ago REO, Styx, and Journey did a "Legends Of Rock" tour. What a thrill that was to see those three bands together!

  • @TheProfessorOfLife Agree with everything you said, especially about Gowan. Saw one of Gowan's first performance in 99 and saw that "Legends Of Rock" in a little town in South Carolina called Marion at the what was at the time called "The Marion Ampitheater." One of the most rockin shows I have ever seen. Concert was about 5-6 hours best I remember. Tired by the time Journey finished (might have been the beer LOL), but what an awesome show. These guys still rock!!!!!

  • @jamesskb The funny thing is, all of the "older" bands are still very, very popular and are out there touring, because their music is timeless. Journey, REO, Styx, Doobie Bros., Foreigner, Night Ranger, Chicago, Pat Benatar..........the list goes on and on. We saw Foreigner last year and they were spectacular. Their "new" lead singer is a dead ringer vocally for Lou Gramm. "Old-timers" like myself and my wife appreciate REAL musicians, and REAL lyrics, and the younger generations do too.

  • Attention all Walmart shoppers!

  • hahah i love how the reo speedwagon drummer was downgraded to tambourine in this :D

  • Styx was as big as anybody in the late 70's early 80's. REO had their own claim to fame in the same era. It's cool to listen and have a catharsis from hearing the memories.

  • Wadda ya say, Kevin??

  • REO's drummer is Bryan Hitt. Proof that you don't have to be born and raised in a big city to make something of yourself.

  • Styx without Dennis is not Styx, like Queen Without Freddie or Sabbath without Ozzy, etc...

  • @Poko1976 I wouldn't go that far. Freddy Mercury was the voice of Queen. Dennis was not the sole vioce of Styx. In fact, Tommy Shaw sang quite a few of their biggest hits. They can go on with out Dennis and do a whole set with needing his voice at all.

  • tommy shaw wears out that Gibson

  • oh sooooo goooooood!

  • This is what music was supposed to be, people having fun playing each others songs.

  • awesome!

  • Yup Youngsters,Pay attention,You'll never see anything as good as these two groups together. In all phases of the music.Best of the 70's & 80's....Old School....

  • MY TOP TEN LIST BEST ROCK STYX REO ASIA OZZY LED ZEPP QUEEN JOURNEY W/ STEVE PERRY LYNYRD NEIL YOUNG/CRAZY HORSE BLACK SABBATH
  • Do it again and invite me! This is a great song of the times we now face but it is not only the Blue Collar Man, it is not the US, it is the world as we know it.

BUT STOP NOW! CHECK OUT THE PICKING IT IS ROCK TO THE MAX THIS IS WHAT ROCK AND ROLL IS. Rock on!

So mote it be! dit da dit dit Show your dits!

  • haha 2:05 kevin messes up the lyrics :)

  • Time to see Styx in concert again!!!!

  • What arrangement do they use when both Glen Burtnik and Chuckie Panozzo are both in the lineup for styx? Do they go with a double bass?

  • How i wish i was there!!!

  • couldn't Journey have joined in too ??

  • both are going to be in Louisville Kentucky tonight and imma be there! :D

  • they are comming to Mexico for the very first time...I can´t wait...

  • 1979 año de encrucijadas quie iba a pensarlo?

  • This is incredible.

  • wrong words reo boy...what can i say... you suck...respect the song

  • What can you say??? friggin brilliant!!!! Tell me this isn't the best live act going - both bands together - from the other side of the atlantic I wish I was there to see them. Come to the UK and I'll be there for your gig

  • how sick would it be if tommy and kevin swapped...that would be wild concert....i've seen both band multiple times....sooo good

  • So much win just occured I cant even describe it.

  • both of these bands know how to rock the house....back from the day each band had a distinctive sound, you knew who they were when you heard the opening notes.....nowadays , it might be be one of five different bands, they all sound the same

  • That was an era when music had expression.

  • who is the keyboardist for styx? he has an amazing voice

  • Lawrence Gowan

  • or maybe its Dennis DeYoung your talkin aboot

  • Tommy and JY are still rocking Styx....DeYoung is doing stage productions of 101 Dalmations....Proves DeYoung needed Styx more than they needed him........

  • @HowardOfOz3565 The whole "Mr. Roboto" thing really did Dennis DeYoung in. What the hell was that all about anyway? Stupidest thing Styx ever did. Lawrence Gowan is doing a great job replacing DeYoung and he is quite the showman on-stage. Those canucks have good musicians too!

  • @HowardOfOz3565 Tommy and JY are playing county fairs today, DD is still on Broadway. Name one original hit from Styx since DD left? DD and the Ponozzo's were Styx today Styx is a shell.

  • Comment removed

  • Tommys voice. What can i say? sounds the same as it did 30 years ago. and he looks good for... what...... 58?

  • This drummer is definetly Todd Sucherman .He is simply AWESOME

  • Nope, the drummer playing is definitely Todd Sucherman of Styx! Saw them with REO in Kansas City recently. Great show!!! Styx is awesome!!!

  • Im going there concert tonight at harrahs harveys tahoe.

  • VERY cool tune! Wish all u pups would have grown up with u'r folks! We might even respect each other now!

  • Shit I bought all this Styx albums when I was young, I should have bought REO!!! They are fun together!

  • hi infidelity was the album to get it had a lot of great tunes, before that the lp w/ roll w/ the changes was good.

  • cetlahi, I agree. Kevin should lose the folk singer-sound and let his rocker voice out.

  • who was the drummer styx or reo

  • It was Styx's drummer playing on this song. REO's drummer was wearing the green shirt (you can see him pretty good around 3:15.

  • @cetlahi Just look who was playing what guitar!! red and blue???? they swapped!!!! sounded great! seen em both live so unless you all have too,... don't judge!!!!

  • i was shocked keven sounded that good! i heard some live stuff with him that sucked. tommy is right on evertime he gets better like wine.

  • Yeah, I loved Kevin's voice in this song. His voice in recent years has become a bit nasal, but his voice on this song was classic Kevin ;o)

  • actually, REO's drummer is the one playing in this one. His hair is longer and blond, Styx's drummer has short dark hair, i know because i was there xD

  • @futahh Yes! Kevin sounds good singing this but of course this is Tommy's song to sing!!

  • @futahh

Great point, although being from Wisconsin I think he is more like cheese...

  • kevin is a dancing machine

  • Lol! Definitely!

  • Kevin didn't sound too terrible

  • Am I the first to notice that the guitarist at 1:04 has NO SHOES?!?

  • lol he's actaully the bassist xD

    Glen Burtnik

  • Tommy Shaw looks like David Spade...lol

    This is awesome.

  • these old boys can still kick ass!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is just greattttttttt.

  • God that was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is what happens when great musicians come together. All these idiots who are talking about "dinosaur rock", they have to be able to do what these guys are doing first, then they will have the right to talk

  • @4SMFLOW AGREED, and even if they get to the point that they (the haters) can play it, they still have to tour for decades successfully performing and SHARING the music.

Bottom line: you tube musician wann-be crtics can't touch these guys.

  • @4SMFLOW DeYoung was a control freak, just like Steve Perry was with Journey. But both bands eventually found replacements and they are still out there sharing their great music with us. Although I will say that Journey's "revolving door" lead singer situation is getting very laughable.

  • "Let's hear it for all of us. What do ya say?" I say, "Yeah!!!!!""lol I love REO and Styx. This is an awesome video! It's what rock is all about!!!

  • sex drugs and rock and roll?

  • Well, that too.

  • lol, awesome ride this song is! no bout a doubt it.

  • Yeah. REOs lead singer's brother used to be "my" weatherman. That's got to be an awkward family gathering. "Hey Sean, what you been doin? Talkin to a few hundred people on local TV? Ive rocked millions live. Its good to know you've done well in life."

  • This is a clinic for all bands striving to be great live. Outstanding musicianship, pure harmony and a great live vibe.

  • wachting itevery day man greatest

  • ST. LOUIS!!!

  • I was at that concert and it was great. They filmed it for the Arch allies tour. Eddie Money played before Styx and REO. Damm that was a great concert!!!!

  • Never knew Tommy could play guitar that well!

  • You think he rocks? Check out REO's lead guitarist, he's amazing! But there both AWESOME!

  • REO's lead guitarist has the sickest Les Paul i have ever seen but I still think Styx's lead guitarist, James "JY" Young, is one of the best guitarists of all time.

  • yeah they're all awesome

  • thats not REO's guitarist though thats Tommy Shaw of Styx

  • yea sorry about that. in the Roll With The Changes video REO's guitarist is playing a wicked les paul that looks a lot like the one tommy's playin in this one.

  • Tommy's playing Dave's guitar and Bruce and Dave are playing Kevin's acoustics.

  • The best i've heard from this song. Plus I love it when two bands are together like this. They looked like they had so much fun.

  • My fave stix song but that kereoke intro has to go NOW bring bacj the B3

  • damn that wldve been awesome to see in person

  • yeah i deffinetly sounds like he messed up on purpose cause he said barely instead of hardly

  • Tommy Shaw has shared a stage with some of the biggest egos in rock. Ted Nugent, Dennis DeYoung, etc... but I don't think there is a stage big enough to share with Mr Cronin. He does love to hear himself. lol

  • Is this at the Dunkin Donuts Center

  • no its at the st louis amplitheater

i was there kevin sounded idiotic when he screwed up

  • Kevin did screw up the song but it was on purpose. Kevin being Kevin!

  • It looks like Kevin might've forgotten the words at first lol

  • Reo's lead singer was mumbling after he said a few lines

  • Great version of an outstanding song!

  • What the hell is it with these two bands?? I mean I like them both but they always tour together, always!

  • I like both bands as well but I don't think either of them could sell out a large venu/arena on their own, just a guess.

  • hahahaha yeah sheldon i was thinking the same. i went to a styx, reo, and def concert last night. styx is my favorite band and reo runs a close second

  • Two great bands and a great song! Man, they aced this and the crowd didn't seem to mind a bit. :-)

  • DO you have any definitive proof? That isn't your opinion, but fact?

  • I hadn't heard of your new recording contract. Can you fill us in on the details?

  • Um I was at THAT concert and Tommy had nothing to do with screwing up this song! In fact, Kevin Cronin couldn't even remember the words to the song! Otherwise, the rest of the band onstage did a wonderful job! I have seen this performed many, many times. How do you see it that Tommy screwed this up?

  • Oh boy did you put me in my place! Thank you! Nostalgic bullshit? This was taped in June of 2000! Not exactly nostalgia, wouldn't you agree? Well, obviously you care enough to point out what you think was the screw up in this song.

  • How in the heck does it even know anything about American music? (yes this is a thing not a person) I bet it doesn't even know Styx and REO have great history of being the biggest rockbands of all times. Either that or it's very pathetic for being such a child and screaming at things it doesn't even need to watch if it hates it so much. Point said.

  • hahah i know i comment this alot, everytime i watch it i see something new, like tommys hair in this video?! its madddd shorrttt

  • tommy shaw blows me away,

  • That drummer blows me away. He's great

  • Great video but see THE ROOM by Tommy Wiseau! AWESOME!*

THE ROOM MOVIE (website) by Tommy Wiseau! DISCOVER IT!*

  • it seems like the lead singer for reo made a mistake at 2:04. am i right?

  • no just the way he singers the songgg

  • yes.. Kevin messed up.... Your Right

  • I think the reason REO and Styx got together so easily is because both bands are from the South Side of Chicago - Oak Lawn to be specific. Each bands sound compliments each other too.

  • Gotta love the guitarist kick move at 2:55. Classic!!!

  • REO has to be like the first punk rock band.. In theory.. When they started out they really didn't know how to play, but then you see them in the 80s and they had it all down. Same with a lot of early 70s to 80s bands.. And it makes you wonder what the point of the punk rock movement was.. It was happening all along..

  • plz dont call REO "punk rock" there deff not

  • Punk = pick up instruments, begin to play.. So you are saying they took lessons?

  • Argh, I thought all these years James was related to Dennis, and just saw the last name.. Okay well that figures..

  • BTW, Styx pre 1975, sounded about as good as Billy Joel when he was with "Attila" (the whole idea there was Keyboard and Drums, bad idea). Note, Tommy Shaw and Jame DeYoung did this (or another) tour without Dennis, against Dennis wishes, because Dennis underwent some sort of traumatic event, James and Tommy didn't want to delay, to wait for Dennis, so they went along without him.. There is an interview with Dennis somewhere on the net where he mentions this..

  • You put James DeYoung.... For everyone out there who does not know its James Young.... And its Dennis DeYoung...

  • Man, I saw the show at PNC arts center...let me tell ya, that drummer is a BEAST!!!!!

  • Simply, and Amazingly great

  • yea i was there

  • woow that had must be amazing..

  • Rockin!!

  • Was never a fan of this song, but this video is the SHIT! {And that REO did flub the words!}

  • if u can post the videos can it be from this video and what the Kevin sing i though it was"..so like it or not..." it sounded like he said something else

  • can u post roll with the changes w/o styx and keep on loving you

  • hey guys just a cool site update...THEREDNECKLOUNGE dot com it is hilarious, I dang near dropped my drawers laughing so hard...

  • REO and Styx are great together, this song is awesome!

  • dude can you put the other blue collar man from this concert on youtube?

  • Totally Awesome!!!!!! REO Speedwagon & Styx both rock!!!!!!

  • Just saw Styx at Casino Rama in Ontario, Canada.

    Gowan was AMAZING as Dennis.

Saw REO there last fall, that was GREAT also.

I can't wait to get this DVD.

  • I was at Rama, also, and GOWAN was amazing. But, he is not Dennis, and has never tried to be. STYX is a new and improved band since they unloaded Dennis and hired on Lawrence Gowan. This DVD is killer, also.

  • I stand corrected. I just meant that the Styx songs that Gowan sang(Grand Illusion and Come Sail Away) were songs originally done by Dennis(were they not?), and he did a fantastic job. His energy on stage was unbelievable. And his voice, on Criminal Mind, was simply astonishing. Sounded better than I remember the original. I wish them all much continued success.

  • dennis d young is a god and noone will ever replace his voice.

  • HE'S RIGHT! STYX WITHOUT DENNIS IS NOT STYX! But, REO still has it too.

  • listen.. STYX still kicks ass.. Without Dennis.. They went on when Tommy was in Damn Yankees and it seems like no one has ever brung that up.. Get over.. Dennis is no more and the music is still there.. Just enjoy...

  • Damn that ROCKS!!!!

  • 2 of the greatest bands of all time together...pure greatness, although Styx without Dennis is NOT Styx.

Its also nice to hear Kevin singing in his normal voice. Nowadays he mostly uses a falsetto, although Im not sure if he does that on purpose or if its just from old age.

  • Is that 3 BASSES?? I see Burtnik, Chucky Panozzo and REO's guy. REO's drummer got the tambourine treatment, letting Todd play the song.. boy talk about overkill.

  • this video rocks!!!!!!

  • This rocks hahah holy shit

  • this was in 2001.. Arch Allies tour... Theres a DVD and double cd to it...

  • When was this

  • it's kinda strange to see them playing each other's instruments.. never seen bruce on guitar before! wow that's different!

  • I wish Kevin would sing an REO song in the same style that he sings in this vid. I was surprised when I first heard it. The did REO's Roll With The Changes as well. I'll post in the near future.

  • I agree. Kevin sounds best singing less folksy, more blues/rock.

  • Branstudio - Reo Speedwagon (live) - Aug 2006 - Sacramento,ca Fair -

  • Branstudio - Reo Speedwagon (live) aug 2006 - sacramento,ca

  • Still sizzling hot after all these years! My 2 fave bands together... looked like they had a great time too! Just saw Styx a week ago and had a blast... only left me wanting more. Sigh. wish they were coming around again...
