We should have realized that she's not an asociate of the doctor and the dalek knew it. Then who is she? She is not an associate of the Doctor and the dalek know she's stronger then him plus he ask for mercy. She's someone stronger than the Doctor and not exactly his friend.

The Ninth Doctor could make several Daleks back away in horror if he was in a bad mood that particular Day. Also, the Dalek might as well have been trying to trick her/play the victim. To give the Dalek credit, that strategy DID work on other companions. Remember the one who tricked Rose into accidentaly repowering it?
