  • I Wanna Go There So Bad Now I'm From Compton Ca I'm 18 Man I Would Be Knockn Them Down Ahaha;)

  • 4:58 HIT IT RIGHT ON THE NOSE!

  • as a Hampton student I feel that black people are succeeding more than A LOT of white people that I know. While these black kids here are trying their hardest to persue a career, the white kids that I went to high school with are at home right now smoking weed and making nothing of themselves.

  • I graduated from Hampton back in 2000, and the students are absolutely right. I am a male, and the ratio at the time was about 9 females to every 1 male. Its truly sad that not many Black men go to college. Back in my day guys were dropping out 1 by 1. I stayed even though it took me 5 long years. I had a new set of friends every year. As a guy though on campus I was in heaven. I didn't have a car, and I lived on campus, but trust me fella's I had no problems finding nice educated women.

  • that was some sad commentary smh ...i loved my HU experience but i never really asked the question y are there not more men on they yard i was jus happy to bask in all of the beautiful Hampton women

    O Phi O XI

  • As a Black male (of direct African origin) in America, I agree, we need more of our younger brothers entering colleges.

Anyways, If I can come to this country with little to nothing and graduate with two professional degrees solely based on my own merits and hard work, any Black male should be able to do it.

  • Just got accepted to the real HU.

  • My bro and I are visiting Hampton on Wed! :D

I'm sure we're gonna love it

  • beautiful young ladies

  • There are more black men in blood and crip gangs than there are in college?

  • i'm an 06 graduate of HU. i know the first 3 girls in this video. i will say that men are greatly outnumbered by women at HU. at some point we have to stop blaming society for this and take ownership of it. if you truly want to go to school you will find a way. 5 star chick is going to want a 5 star dude. education is only part of what it means to be in college. it also proves that you set out and achieved a task, and you have grown as a person on so many levels. Rock the Blue and White

  • @ChazzGilbert

well said, my man! once one makes it a goal to achieve his potential, one needs to do it to the very end! personally, I think all males should at least try out college: you can open yourself up to being a better man and a better citizen with your degree, even if said college is a technical school. An education can take you to heights untold in life

  • real talk from the girl from bmore!

  • where is this girl at 2:39 finding these statistics. i'm not offended or anything but don't make stuff up

  • @thereturnofman295 She is just giving an on the spot answer. Basically her own opinion. She is in no way implying that she has statistics to support her statements.

  • The problem is most young BM do not see the value in joining the mainstream, and they also do not like the culture of mainstream. so they don't participate. very simple. notice how if its a record label everyone is happy to get involved.

  • Who are we..? THE BEST at HAMPTON UNIVERSITY

  • Wow- I was surprised by the young woman who cited a 14:1 female/male ratio at Hampton now. I am a Hampton graduate from 1974 & at that time it was about 5:1. I found that most of us back then had great motivations to succeed because there were so many who chose to write blacks off as somehow not being able to. The challenge for us was irresistable to prove the naysayers wrong in the throes of the civil rights movement-and the majority of us rose to the occasion & stepped into successful careers.

  • (cont),, the real problem is the 'ole divide & conquer. The powers that be know who can be controlled,& who is rebellious. Who spend money the way we(the corps) tell them to,and who would be resistant and cause problems. Look at Oprah. She is a HUGE conformist. She is anti-independent thought. She has commercialized the "Independent Female Movement" just like Beyonce and others have. Does anyone see the contradiction? She tells women to be "independent",yet tells them what to buy,wear,etc..

  • I think alot of people that immediately turn to the "it's rap musics fault" notion,is bc they themselves aren't REALLY familiar with the way music works. There is a cause and effect process that happens. Hip hop is jsut a mirror to what currently going on,and is a form of expression that many choose to speak for them. Understand that the feelings/problem was there b4 the song/s in question, but are simple articulated through song form. None of them said what the real problem is(cont)

  • IMO, society set up black males to fail. I have a son in school and Im very hands on(involved) with his education, and I can testify to the fact that TEACHERS are mostly biased pieces of shit!! The only want to get to get paid for minimal effort,& usually take the path of least resistance,in this case would be pandering to the female populous. Plus there is the commercial aspect, men spend less money than females, that's why CORPORATIONS sponsor collages,to ensure they have the consumers desired.

  • i applied to hampton..i hope i get excepted even though its majority female...its a good school

  • Dang they might as well turn Hampton into a all female school !

  • I think the reason is a number of factors. Socio/economics and lack of a father figure are two primary factors, but I think it goes deeper than that. Rap music and urban media does not emphasize the importance of education and instead of going to school they would much rather hustle or rap as this is the "widely accepted" view of what a black man is in the inner city. I could do on... but hopefully with Obama's election it will light a fire for black men to go to college and excel.

  • @cabalofdemons Lets not forget about pressure being put on by women, black women. Women want men with the cars the money. fast money, fast cars, getcha fast nookie.

  • @mistanderson

True some do. Women want a man that is successful. However, I think you are getting at is some women that are shallow and expect a guy to be well off before he is 25 when it rarely works out like that.

  • @cabalofdemons In this day in age thats like majority of women. Not alot of women would date a college boy who dont have a car. Even some girls in their right mind. ......... well a little.

  • @cabalofdemons Just adding to that, Black women are really good at supporting one another. As a black male, I notice more constructive relationships among Black women as opposed to Black men.

  • @MIKE2513

Yes that's true. I attend law school at an HBCU. Although I can say that the brothas look out for one another in law school, I can't really say the same when I go to the undergrad campus. Of course, I'm not and never have been an undergrad at an HBCU.

  • I think the real reason that females out number the males on colleges is because the males have a lot more options out of highschool than females...milatary, electricians, plumber, truck driver etc...and of course jail

  • @SHAQBULLY i agree with that reason and being one. also social issues and lack of inspiration for them to do so, lack of male mentors (thats why Big Brother, Big sisters, Black Men Teach and other organizations are needed for men)

  • There are a lot of reasons why black males don't go to college. Many don't have father figures and they grow up emulating other males who they ought not (rappers, friends on the streets, athletes, etc). If a male has a clouded sense of what manhood really is then higher education won't be on the priority list, point blank.

    QT6

  • The interviewer is trying to put words in her mouth. A lot of Black males just don't want to go to college. It's not that we're stupid or anything a lot of Black men just don't want to go.

  • @Brownfox1981 A college degree is practically a requirement for any decent standard of living. So for what logical reason would Black males as a group decide they "don't want to go to college"?

  • << S.F.C. class of 2003 History/Biology with a minor in language. True enough my education made things a lot easier for me and I would not trade my education for anything, an education does not secure a successful future. I have friends who work as truck drivers, plumbers, garbage men, construction workers, and they are making a great living. Non of those men wanted to go to college at all.

  • whats the name of that first song they play?
