You can't really show off a player based off short clips. These just look like a bunch of random basic shots. Sure, there are a few "trick" type shots tossed in there but trick shots in normal competitions are normally a sign of weakness, not skill. A skilled player wouldn't leave themselves that kind of shot. If someone else left them that shot then they normally play a safety. He's a great player though... but these clips make him appear otherwise IMO.

@ltcode2 I'm not sure exactly what shot you are talking about... but I said there were a few "trick" type shots. However, he is supposed to be playing 9-ball it looks like in all of these clips. I'm not claiming he isn't a great player. He is probably the best. My point is that these clips just don't paint that picture. Like you point out, at best they might indicate he is a decent trick shot artist... but that is not what he is famous for.

Each player did not aim for the EMPTY CUP but the honor of his/her country, that's why if a player thought that he/she have to do some sort of that shots, he/she must do besides PRO thing is a way far on a CROWD's View, same thing happened to Pac-Marquez III fight.

@ltcode2 Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the trick type shots were very justified at the time. However, they are shown here out of context. Same for those ultra easy shots. I'm not saying he is a bad player... just that this doesn't really show off his talent that well. Just my opinion. To really demonstrate his skill I think you would have to show him running a table or two. Or, maybe show primarily his best safe shots with just a couple other difficult, yet not trick shots, thrown in.

Fats was a decent player...but Efren's skill is extraordinary! No pro today can match him for the cash! Strickland tried in Hong Kong, and lost. When Efren comes to the US, he always stops by Hardtimes in Bellflower a couple days to practice. Serious players stop to watch him and hopefully pick up some pointers. He's also still very humble! A really great guy!

Efren Reyes is considered by the pool experts the best that ever played the game. Minnesota fats is a pool hustler an American player and a self appointed best pool player, not even one of the best of his time but just an overhyped. over promoted by the American media as usual as the best and a movie was made (Hustler) about it. Willie Masconi was the best at that time. But since Efren Reyes is not an American I doubt it very much if they ever make a movie about him here in America.

let us all be honest here ; the pockets on these tables are incredibly generous . on a snooker table it's a different skill level altogether. he is good and clearly understands his angles but these rail shots go in with a huge margin for error as the pockets are so enormous.

Secondly, if you watch your video, on three of the clips Efren plays aq safe while his object ball drops and he screws himself lol. I don't want to start a big argument but I have to disagree with you. Mosconi was the greatest player of his time but he would never have amassed the number of world titles he had if he faced the competition out there today. Mosconi was a straight pool player. Reyes comes from a country that has to run the same 15 balls but they have to do it in order. That's a whole skill above straight pool. Efren won the first straight pool tourny he entered. He's on a different level.

He has mastered every billiard/pool game that he has played. Mosconi was great but couldn't even imagine doing the things Reyes does on the table. Watch as many videos of Reyes as you can. Time & time again the commentators talk about how no one has ever seen a player of his ability. Other pros come to see his matches. He kicks multiple rail shots to hit the object ball at the right speed and angle to separate the cueball and object ball and leave a person hooked ON PURPOSE! He's not human.
