@xJoN97 Record of Lodoss War: Chronicles of the Heroic Knight (Lodoss-tou senki, Eiyuu kishi-den). It's a TV series that aired back in 1998 in Japan. You might not have heard it if you got into anime recently, since the company that originally licensed this in the US, US Manga Corps, has since gone under.

Can anybody exprain? I can just as easily look it up via Google... There were, at least, 2 series of Lodoss War right? I recall, Sci Fi CHannel had Saturday morning Anime years ago. They would have some high quality stuff too! One time I tuned in, I saw a great portion of an older quality Lodoss War. he next time I saw it, I saw a newer quality anime on DVD that seemed to be...newer!

@SoberAllmanBrosFan There was Lodoss War and then Legend of Crystania. Legend of Crystania was newer but wasn't exactly Lodoss War, just based in the same world. Damn good anime though, both of them.

As people have said if the series embodied even half the spirit of the intro, it would've been great. Too bad.

@allankles I think opinions are split on it. I myself prefer the OAV, animation reusage and all, but as far as I'm aware the TV series technically follows the original books more closely. I find that neat, but it's a bit jarring when they switch main characters after the first eight episodes.

The one I finished watching was the one where it looks really old and woodchuck got possessed by that crown towards the end. Is this one the remake of that one? @Soeufans It kinda felt like more money was spent on the opening than the whole of the series. The animation in the opening, especially when Deedlit is standing atop the pole and the wind is blowing against her hair and tunic, the attention to detail is simply amazing, but the show was more cartoon-y than that. My issue is how much I loved Ashram (I saw the series before the OVA), loving him for having that 'Dark Knight' quality, but later in the show he's just kinda 'meh.' Oh, and Orson. Grr
