  • @RichRusso4218 I don't think the Cobra ever bounced the limiter but I could be wrong, it was a long time ago, almost 4 years now. It was the Evo who was bouncing off the limiter iirc, and really wasn't the driver of the Cobra's fault....the car was still on a stock clutch making very close to 600whp, it was beat. Not making excuses for him....it is what it is, just stating a fact.

    7th race: Cobra starts off a full car ahead

    If you feel that winning involves starting off ahead or letting out early than that's ur prob

  • Depends on your definition of "won". From what I saw the Evo can pull an early lead but based off the first run (the only decent one) the Cobra will catch up toward the end. Most of the other races were 1)Evo shoots off @ the 2nd honk, 2)Evo catches the early lead but lets off early because, once again, traffic, 3) one of the two misses a gear). I'm not an Evo-hater by no means but this brings me back to my first statement and also implies that these two desperately needed an abandonded airstrip

    Sorry but I had to give the thumbs down after seeing them 1) racing with too much traffic 2) starting races when one cars front bumper was at the others rear bumper 3) running 27 races all from a roll. Why not try one from a dig or from a slower roll? Why continue doing the same thing over... and over... and over???

  • @onegaisti #1 it's not an Eaton that's already been covered 8,000 times......#2 I agree, racing in traffic is dumb but sometimes you encounter a car and want to do pulls and that's what happened.....#3, they did run from a different speed, if you watched the entire vid...the last run was from a low 1st gear roll in which the Cobra won.

  • Call me crazy but it dont sound like my cobra and I have the 2.8 22ish psi.... sounds like a M90 on high boost... Mind you my 04 has ported heads and a few other mods but mine pulls alot harder then this..

  • @vtec6465 trust me, it's a 2.8L KB on low boost...only 17psi peak, I believe....it's a vert (heavy) and also had a stock clutch at the time (making roughly 600whp)....not to mention, a M90 is not even the stock blower that comes on these cars, it's an Eaton M112

As for my last post I also lied because mine is 25psi that was a mistype as well. I didn't even see that it was a vert. I guess I need to pay more attention before I post..

Your post is proof that a stock Evo will not run 12s, took you a cold air, intercooler pipes, test pipe and tune to acheive a 12.9....so obviously, without those mods, you will run slower.   • @UPcomingBARBER08 people can believe whatever they want but this was not your run of the mill FP Green Evo......this car might not have had a built motor, but was cammed w/ meth or race gas allowing it to run more boost then a normal FP Green car would be able to just on pump gas....I believe the Evo went 11.2 @ 122 on a shakedown run w/ this setup.....I am trying to get the Cobra driver to do a pull w/ another Evo that I had the pleasure of running in a Shelby GT 500....that vid is also on here

  • @igjoe2007 first of all, a stock 01 GT has 260 hp, not 265. the BULLITT is the one that had 265 hp. second of all, the 2V is an IRON block and the 4V (Mach 1) is ALUMINUM. iron weighs MUCH more than aluminum. not only does the mach 1 have 45 more horsepower; but it also WEIGHS a lot less because of the aluminum block. i will say it again.............. get your facts straight before you speak.... there is more to speed than just power--weight is a factor too...

  • @Hellz420 LOL! you just proved how dumb you are. dont forget the extra weight of the 13" front rotors, the calipers, the 11.7" rear rotors, then you have the extras for the shaker AND the shaker hood. not to mention the aluminum intake instead of the Plastic for the GT the bigger DOHC heads which are aluminum as is the GT's SOHC heads, the extra cams 4 vs the 2 of the GT then the heavier seats than the GT's. should i break it down for your more. the Mach 1 weighs more, it is proven on MY title

  • @igjoe2007 so you got me on the weight thing; BUT you were still wrong about the power ratings. here is another thing you're about to learn: lower suspension = lower center of gravity = better traction. look at go-karts, they are as low to the ground as it gets and they get all the traction in the world. the extra weight probably actually adds more traction for off the line.

  • @Hellz420 i was 5hp off... also more weight does maybe add a little bit of traction. the Mach one is 1/2" lower than the GT, BUT it has a higher center of gravity in the front end due to the DOHC engine and the Shaker. it does have "stiffer" suspension but really the difference between the cars is not 12.9 to 14.3, i would say a bad 60' in the GT would result in a 14.3 and it may be an average time for most drivers, but the car can do a 13.5 maximum stock.

  • @igjoe2007 well, the 14.3 number i got was from an AUTOMATIC GT, so yes, your manual trans one would be a little faster, but i doubt much faster. a stock gt with MANUAL probably does around 14 on the 1/4. even though it has a higher center of gravity in the front; it is the rear that matters with the gravity thing.

  • @Hellz420 lol, i am not going to explain all of the different aspects of this over YouTube. you are trying to say with a LCoG and more weight alone you can be faster in a straight line.. because the LCG and weight give more traction....traction = friction. more friction = more force slowing you down. more weight = less power per pound, less power per pound means you accelerate slower. take your degree and shove it, goto school for Automotive Engineering or just get some common sense as you say.

  • @Hellz420 Also, yes i do understand without traction you'd go nowhere, its the balance of traction,power and weight that is key. with more traction you can apply more power to the ground with less weight you accelerate faster. but a little bit of traction, 45hp more WITH more weight will not make up the difference between 14.3 to 12.9. Gearing is a factor as well but it only keeps you in the powerband. 12.9 to 13.5 seems more likely.

  • @igjoe2007 i liked the "or just get some common sense" part. common sense is information known by the common/average human being (which this is not). but seriously though; wouldn't you rather save $5,000 and put it towards a $5,900 LSX376 that makes 450 horsepower and can handle a over 700 WHP on the stock internals? ya that's right, $5,900; less than buying the 2011 Mustang 5.0 engine (both engines on Jegs).

  • @Hellz420 no... cause i would rather spend $1,200 on my engine and buy forged rods and pistons and then my engine handles 1000hp easy. unlike your LS motor i dont have to worry about my cylinder heads holding me back. Look up hellions 03 Cobra project. stock cobra engine taken to 1000hp on pump gas.

  • @igjoe2007 you could do the same with an ls1. the stock internals of the 2001 cobra/2003 mach 1 are good for up to 550ish WHP. upgrade the internals and you have the same story. there's a big difference between your mach 1 and the 03 cobra. the 03 cobra has an iron block instead. iron blocks can handle boost a lot better.

  • @Hellz420 the Mach 1 rods and pistons are the same as the GT so only 450ish whp. this is true about the iron block, the aluminum Teksid block from the old 96-98 cobras is very strong. my block is good to about 1200hp or so. the cobras block is good to 2000hp i believe. i drive my car on the street so 1000hp would be a little overkill. my goal is to have an 800hp street car someday. might knock it down depending on how it is on the track (autocross and road course)

  • @Hellz420 LOL, and what do you drive? the Camaro SS is a shitpile of a car, remember my Mustang put it out of production. the only good thing about the camaro 98-02 would be its LS1 engine and 6spd transmission. dont forget my DOHC 4.6L has been known to smash on those, its also in 03-04 Cobra's. Ford's Modular engines are very capable. look at all of the DOHC 5.4L engines in the GT500 and Ford GT supercar. i don't see GM with a 550hp four seater car that avoids the gas guzzler tax.

My GT had full bolt ons, Fidanza lightweight flywheel, FRPP lightweight driveshaft, i would mention the TKO500 but its not like it adds power. i know what i saw and i know what i did. call BS all you want but it happened.

  • I raced an Evo with my 2000 mustang GT stock and I believe the Evo was stock not sure though? Anyway I beat the Evo by a lot. Th evo did have a extra passenger and a aftermarket exhaust but I don't think the gf passengers makes much of a difference.

I did win though and if I ever see the kid again around my area I will flag him down and see if we can get a rematch. It will be sometime early spring cause of course their is dumb ass snow on the ground. :( I will try and get someone to record it next time and I will upload it for you. It won't be anytime in the next month cause of stupid snow though. :(

  • @carguyfrom1984 I know not everyone needs to be a professional driver, but even my ditzy 21-year old sister is a better driver than this guy. And she's gone through 3 clutches in 2 years in her 03 Tiburon GT.

  • a v8 Supercharged can barely beat a 2 liter 4 banger.

  • @Rsanson21 supercharged car on pump gas w/ an extra passenger vs. an evo on race gas w/ no passenger, brake boosting and slightly jumping the beeps or just reacting better than the Cobra driver. Not trying to make excuses....just calling it how it is. The Cobra is going to do another run w/ an Evo w/ a bigger turbo than a Green but the Evo will likely be on pump gas....so we'll see what happens.

  • @T67GS300 ehh, to each his own....most people who see the car (Evo) think it is unsuspecting by the way it looks....I don't know the owner personally so I can't comment exactly on why he put that wing on the car....but that would be my guess....also probably helps out w/ harassment from police.

  • @yonkersracing Yeah good point there. The Oz rally spoiler looks fine on it. If he really wanted to do a sleeper look he shoulda put the oz rally rims on there too.

    thats the RS (lightweight version of an evo) its got manual windows and that little spoiler, no radio or speakers, its not a OZ rally Spoiler plenty of evo's came with that spoiler
