I had to look for highschools last year, i live in nyc, and the graduation rate is 30% one of the worst schools in nyc, or in the u.s Im not sure, but dont go here, students throw chairs out the windows.

I graduated out of this school in 2005. I was in the performing arts house and sang in the choir. After the '05 kids left, the talent that was left wasn't many. We were the best of the best. Terrible High School. It was great in 2000 then once they took in all the morons from closed schools it all went to shit. Stools flying out windows hitting pregnant women, vending machines crashing down the stairs, food fights almost everyday. I'm impressed there hasn't been a shootout by the fake fire place by the metal detectors.

WIHS Was the best thing that ever happened to me. Class of 04 (kind of!)

Met the greatest people i have known in my life. I was in Yalow house which may or may not still exist. The rest of the school was a awful but i was proud of it anyway. Hell High FTW.

The school is not for everybody. Also the "performing arts house" is now a seperate school in the same building called Gramercy Arts High School. Anyways, you got the fights, ghetto people, rude teachers, 65% dominican population, sex in the stairs (watch you catch them STD's fast), pedophile security (wonder how the girls get their stuff in school?), old gym equipment, and so on. The school has some good stuff too, but I think it has more negativity to it though.

This high school was the worse high school ever. I hated going there. The teaching house was shitty. The staff was grade A shit. The counslers for teaching house were SHIT! And to add more to this story, let me talk about the terrible STAFF at this school!

Not only were they the most unreliable and difficult people to deal with but the teachers and guidance counselors were utterly useless! The security guards were jerks and the principal was a moron.

Hell, even some of the teachers in this school had sexual relations with their students!

So tell me, how the hell can this be a good school when you have so much wrong happening there?

Washington Irving HS is the worst high school I even attended. I went there during the years of 2001 to approximately 2005 and that high school was so terrible that I had to transfer to Manhattan Comprehensive Night School in order to even get my H.S diploma!

The students who attended this h.s. were all gang bangers or weed sellers! Most of the school had nothing but BLOODS, Crypts or DDP gangsters there. They even brought guns and knives to school.

I attended Irving from 1995-1999 and by far this was the best school in NYC while I was there. I have friends who I still stay in contact with over a decade later and even do business with some. The most memorable aspect, which may be the most important, was my time in Mr. Springhetti's Photography class. All of the education he taught me, turned into a successful career as a Photographer for some of NYC's most beautiful people. Life is what you make it. Expect the unexpected.
