  • His cd titled "SONGS" is all cover songs or remakes and I love it!! There is no one like Luther and if he remake a song you know it will be all LUTHER's.

  • Luther was the master of the remake.Nobody, but nobody could do it like him.He would make it his own.

  • crime mob sampled this song

  • There will never be another like Luther the greatest

  • Great song!

  • thanks for the good cry. i needed that.

  • you got me going in circles

  • MMMM!!!!!!! LOVE YA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Loved the original by 'Friends of Distinction' but nothing beats Luther's version.

  • This is real music baby

  • Lawdy, lawdy, Lawdy !!

  • We will always love you Luther!

Miss you with all my heart!

    RIP.

  • RIP Luther

  • The fundamental problem with Luther Vandross, was that the Gods had made him too perfect....too beautiful.......with a voice and smile as smooth as silk......And because he became heaven on earth.........the jealous Gods reclaimed him........

  • @saintjoe14 that was probably the most senseless thing that I have ever heard......

  • @Jermaine7144 Then again....No one ever accused you of having a cerebral cortex////

  • @saintjoe14 Who are you pose to be? Dr. Drew? I didn't say he couldn't sing or anything, so there is nothing wrong with my hearing... But you saying the JEALOUS GODS....... That makes you sound like a bafoon..

  • @Jermaine7144 No, there's nothing wrong with your hearing dog. lol..However, that is not the function of the cerebral cortex cus.....Thinking is not your forte and perhaps I threatened your psychological security by speaking to your religious beliefs....Didn't mean to wake you up "J" to the "E"...If I upset you in anyway, I'm sorry. Then again....If a bird had a radio in its ass, there would be music in the m'fuckin' air...Am I lying?

  • @saintjoe14 Now say that in a way that makes sense.

  • @Jermaine7144 Exactly my point....lol......lol

  • @Jermaine7144 Im talkin bout that last part. JACKASS.. Im sick of you calling me dumb. You need to ak right or get smacked rite.

  • I knew Luther would be a star the first time I heard him sing with Change. Searching.

  • this is my favourate song!!

  • @pretty25583 you spelled favorite wrong, just saying

  • @thevixon2010 and your a dick, just saying! 8D

  • love it

  • Manydycutie666....just in case you didn't know, Michael Jackson groped himself. He was a good artist :)

  • man Luther is the best but now all we have are people singing about the weirdest stuff and they cant even sing they have to use a computer to sing

  • Please don't forget those fabulous soul singers who are still alive ... BOBBY WOMACK, AL GREEN, PEABY BRYSON, HOWARD HEWITT, JAMES INGRAM, FREDDIE JACKSON, EDDIE LEVERTT....

  • Almost as good as Isaac Hayes version

  • Yes, Yes, Yes! This song is always on time, especially with that added touch by Luther.

  • Luther is the spice that sparks the taste, adds that extra ... that makes it sooooooooooo wonderful. Love you, Luther, forever!

  • luther made meh when i first heard this song , its sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo beautiful <3 i love you luther

  • this ma shit

  • great man, may god rest his soul

  • LOVE IT!

  • I love this song and singers voice...luther was in a class of his own and never will be replaced ...no one can compare!!!

  • ♥♥♥

  • Thumbs up if MADEA bought you here!!

  • @rmb18queen oh yea she did lol, love her and tyler perry

  • Why have our young ppl lost their way in music....we don't have any really good ones out there from the young generation? Nothing out today comes close to this level of excellence. This will be the first generation blk ppl music is not well represented on the world's stage. No matter how far back you go....we always had excellence...but we can't claim that anymore. Where did we go wrong with these young ppl? They are lost and off into some satanic stuff that we can't feel. Sorry but it's true.

  • @READY4REVELATION You really cant say that. Theres actually alot of music from this time that represents the past unfortunatly that gets repressed by bigger music industries leaving it "underground." If you look at some smaller record companies and there talents you will be surprised. -sincerly a 16 y.o.

  • @DailyHondaRidr

Sorry, but READY4REVELATION is correct. There are virtually little to no good artist or songs from your generation. It's unfortunate, but when you get old, you won't have any good music to draw from unless the likes of Luther Vandross, The O'Jays, Teddy Pendergrass, Barry White and others are preserved for the future. It's not only hard to understand what your generations calls music, but it is even more disheartening to watch scarcely clothed women and men groping themselves.

  • This song has brought me through so much after leaving New Orleans with a divorce i finally made it.

  • LUTHER IS THE MASTER OF THE REMAKES, NO ONE DOES IT BETTER, WHATEVER HE SINGS ABOUT RELATIONSHIPS, A PLACE HE TAKES YOU AND PUTS YOU IN THAT SITUATION AND NO ONE CAN DO THAT THE WAY LUTHER COULD, AND WHEN YOU CAN CALL HIM BY ONE NAME IT'S SPECIAL, MAY YOU RIP BIG FELLA WE THANK YOU AND WE MISS, AND YES WE WERE BLESSED TO HEAR THE BEST. • When you are asked who, in your estimation, was one of the greatest singers of love songs, the only answer could only be Luther Vandross. He just had a way of making a song personal. He epitomized style and integrity. He was never one to make you wish you had not listened to his music. His voice was definitely a gift from God. His music will live on in my heart. RIP Luther.

  • RIP Luther I love you from the bottom of my heart.....

  • you know I like tyler perry's version of this

  • Great song and Lyrics

    Holla from Amsterdam

  • Love it.

  • As much as I love Luther, the Friends of Distinction's version is so ingrained in my memory, I can't hear it any other way. I know there are some old-schoolers who know what I'm talking about.

  • I love this song.!!!

  • RIP Luther!!!! Like Donnie, Marvin Gaye, and the others ... You are simply IRREPLACEABLE!!!! Thank you for sharing your incredible voice with us and leaving us a part of your legacy.

  • @Melawa1

Me too! I certainly wish he was still around - he had a style all his own - from the very beginning! He was in a band called Change. You can find it on You Tube. He was deinitely the star - back in 1981 or 1982!

  • that man could sang anything!!!!!! tyler perry sounds like the guy from the original in friends of distinction, when he sang that in one of his plays, cant remember which play it was tho.

  • oh oh oh Luther je bent en blijft de aller aller beste zanger die er ooit bestaan heeft...

  • @femvandijk whats that mean?

  • lovee it :)

  • I love what my CD club said about Luther: "When Luther Vandross passed away, heaven regained a voice that surely originated there......."

  • Kirk Whalum also does a gorgeous instrumental version of this. Like Luther, Kirk Whalum has this undeniable soul the pours through his performances.

  • I have this on my Mp3 player...and I love it!

  • Outstanding. There are no other words that can describe this simply amazing artist. The best ever!!

  • Luther's singin' voice is so powerful !

  • Miss his sexy singing. RIP bro.

  • I would be intimidated if I was a recording artist and Luther redid my songs. He's was just that good. Martin Luther King said a voice like Mahalia Jackson comes "once in every millennium " I say the same for Luther.

  • the best that ever did it

  • I love me some Luther, anytime...

  • R.I.P Luther Vandross we love you without you what would we have in our hearts other than our parents but your in a better place you"ll never be forgotten

  • Unbelievable!

  • Only one Luther!!!!

  • "Never never!" at 2:08. That's so tight.

  • mannn why all da original good singers gotta die

  • there will never, ever be another Luther. He is missed so much! he sang effortlessly and made every song his own. Such a shame he is not here but God knows what he is doing.

  • You all hear that, no listen, wait listen, man this is a master at work at his craft! Luther graced the mike, not yelled into the mike, like so many of these no jacks and jills! He was the best and could take any song and make it his! Peace to all those that know and all those just coming on board, you are here now, kickback and relax!

  • I love Luther's interpretation of this classic. I really miss you, brother. RIP.

  • i love and miss LUTHER VANDROSS!!!

  • One of my new faves, and I second that mcemix!!

  • I was having this conversation with my brother and we both feel,Luther always adds that little bit of, honey, to any cover song he sang. It may be to late for another singer of his caliber to come along, not to say there are no great Singer today but Maybe not in the same class.

Like we only have Stevie left.

    Respect the Originals

  • @mcemix i agree

  • @mcemix

    Great comment...so true!

  • Friends of Distinction version of this song is aweson but Luther adds that little bit of flava to this song. Luther rocks this song well.

  • @snoomie1 YES HE DID!!!!!!!!

  • @snoomie1 It's hard to repeat or remake an original.........

But the following artists did an outstanding job:

Melissa Morgan- "Do me Baby" (Prince)

Mary J. Blige-Sweet Thing (Chaka khan)

Lakeside- I wanna hold your hand (Beatles)

  • one of my favorites...
