I admit, multiplayer is the main reason I play shooter games, but I would never dream of only playing the campaign once or twice because that sh*t don't get old!
Hey shithead, campaigns own, and should always be the main part of games, and yes i play multiplayer games, my most played game is tf2. but only cause i play tf2 does not mean i dont like a good campaign, people like you ruin the industry.
@PrawnzHD i meant in general, not this game. but sometimes i see people walking into walls, or right past me, or spraying me but missing every hit, being completely oblivious to everything, camping, etc.
Eg. If you have a multiplayer only game and the servers go down or some one keeps killing you with an overpowered weapon or something, you need a campaign or at least another game mode that isn't multiplayer to keep the game from getting stale, there's more to a game than just multiplayer. It's gotta appeal to the multiplayer and campaign audience.
The reason why people don't play the campaign of games much anymore is because their not that good. I disagree on the BF point though, they have been making great multiplayer games for a long time now and are capable of making a game with great multiplayer and campaign. Campaign is a very important part of a game. You need something to fall back on.
Hmm I'll agree that there arent many campaign missions that I have played over and over excluding halo titles. Although most games I play that have excellent stories are generally meant to be played by yourself(RPG's).
Shibbeh, I agree about the resources, disagree about the not caring about the campaign. BC2 and BC1's campaigns were actually pretty good. Good enough for me to actually say I like them regardless of the fact that they are a shooter campaign.
but shibbeh, they dont want you to go back to that game if you already paid them, they want to sell you new game (im not talking about DICE, but about EA)
me personally i really enjoy solid campaign, like the half-life games which i have about 150 hours just by replaying the single player over and over again or even halos ill play a shit ton of campaign but ultimately multiplayer is were most of my hours r spent...its all about preference.
@Xxclubf00txX But Half-Life was intended first and foremost as Single Player. Games should either have really good Campaigns, or really good Multiplayer. Trying to make both is bad for a game.
I don't know. I think I like some games to have both a muliplayer and a singleplayer. The singleplayer is good if you just want to go on a journey in private, kick back and get familiar with the game mechanics. The mulitplayer on the other hand is there if you want to compete with the real world and get that dynamic feel you were referring to.
honestly shibbs, it's just all marketing. if DICE focused solely on multiplayer, they'd probably release the game earlier and have more tiers of DLC. unfortunately, that's the atmosphere we live in nowadays. kind of like a certain free-to-play hat collecting war simulation game that encourages players to buy other games so that their hat collection can expand.
I like the campaigns being there, they are fun for me, and i like to challenge myself and finish them on the hardest difficulties, but yeh i dont like it if corners are cut on the mp for sp content; that said, i do not think that these days many resources are redirected from mp, especially with all the outsourcing developers are doing now
@Jumbomomo i mostly play mmo's and they don't have single player i'm accustomed to multiplayer only don't really like that story stuff,i have half life lost coast and i don't even play it cause it has no multi
single player is 50 percent of the reason i buy a game, i've played 400 hours of bfbc2 online but i still like the campaign and i think that it is at least a good practice for the multiplayer, i don't think dice should worry to death about the campaign but i think that it will be fun to play, and let me tell you, sometimes it seems like the AI is alot smarter than some players.
@MrThePlug i bought game yesterday because i follow this videos and i sayed why not give it a try and its deffinetly worth buying it,its a really fun game
The single player community is MUCH bigger than the competitive community, yet all competitive players think the game should be balanced around them. Not accusing you of anything, just saying that seems to be the trend amongst commentators.
If you can't make smart ai (at least for an fps) then don't bother making a campaign. Games like Killzone 3, Halo, and FEAR(not FthreeAR thats shit) all had great campaigns
You know what's weird about this game? The free running and traversal was supposed to be the part of the game that really defined it as it's own shooter but it somehow ended up playing a background role to basic shooting game mechanics, it's just one of those things that's there.
I disagree Shibbs, I love both multiplayer and single player, it's fun to follow the story, whether it's good or not and it sets a kind of back story for the MP. I personally wouldn't like BF as much if it didn't have a campaign.
@PassionOfTheHeist321 BFBC2 then, BF1942, 2, 2142 never had a campaign (singleplayer was just awful bots on multiplayer maps). It's only for consoles that they developped a campaign with the BFBC series.
@Horvarthisness Yes but we can't say now that that's at all the same. IMO BFBC2 campaign was pretty good, despite the forced humour and cheesy characters. I'm also pretty sure BF3 MP will be even better, no doubt. I think for just a tiny bit of improvement that might come anyway to the MP, a nice story mode where you can just sit back and play without going try hard is much more enjoyable, like a little cherry on the top as a compliment for buying the game lol, but maybe that's just me.
Shibbeh, I agree that if they spent the time more focused on the multiplayer aspect then yes it would be better then having a campaign and multiplayer but they couldn't sell it for $60 for just multiplayer.
I thought everyone played the campaign before the multi-player..it just makes multi-player that much better knowing the story behind it. IDK, might just be me.. :p
well for me, not so much my friends and like yourself they rather play multiplayer, some haven't even touched the singleplayer, but for me, I do like the single player for one reason, it gives me more to do than just online, because its true, people do come back to play online, just like me, but i also do take time on single player, i mean i wont beat it in one day, I'll play some single and then go multiplayer, I like the difference where I can rely on myself and play the story of the game :)
But Shibbeh, TF2 has an epic story... the tale of two rival factions vying for control over the entire world's hat supply!
On a more serious note, I am glad that Valve decided to spend money on the voice acting that made the different classes so individual and full of character. I mean, where would we all be without POOTIS!? It wouldn't be a world worth living in... ;_;
But shibbeh, you talk about taking the resources from single player and adding them to multiplayer, but what do you think Call of Duty did, and look at how AMAZING those games are, with so much flavor, it's like each and every game is different!
i used to have this game for ps3 but sadly i got rid of it because of the short (to me) singleplayer, and then the multiplayer being the same thing, i still like the game though, they just need to add a standard multiplayer type match
I'm at home-home for a day or two. Have more L4D2 and BF to upload from my external while at home (only have my laptop). I'll make up by having a bunch of new TF2 by the middle of the week when I return.
I admit, multiplayer is the main reason I play shooter games, but I would never dream of only playing the campaign once or twice because that sh*t don't get old!
