  • This is totally lame but I hand it to you for having the nerve to put something this crappy out in public.

  • wrists and fingers were made for a reason... use em!! you're gonna hurt yourself using all arm like that!! turn your wrists!!

  • theres already a snare solo named paradiddle paradise so and its a legit grade six solo from the book "contest solos for the advanced snare drummer" and its copy righted so i highly suggest you change the name.

  • this solo is garbage. seriously.

and for anyone who wants the music, just transcribe it. i mean, its easy enough as it is and then he plays it at 70bpm for gods sake

  • Less to give him the return to the sticks and more to touch, the notes ghost you sound as the anus

  • how do you do the bit that starts at 2.00

  • is there any way that I can get the sheet music for this?

  • i wud like the sheet music for this too

  • aww this music used to be free? :(

I remember i downloaded it a while ago but then i got a new computer :/

  • you moving many times your arms and not only the hands man when u have done slownly the exercices !

    warch out !! lol

    very interensting your exercices...!

one thing,my drums is a SONOR Force 1007 white snow but i´m gonna get when starts the tour of my band a SONOR Force 3007 !

    Miguel (portugal)

    keep drumming !

  • horrible stick holding. horrible snare. damping of death ;)

  • i always practice rudiments, dudes, when i began, i was like omg its so diffffficuuult, but now, i can play tthe double or paradiddle at 200 bpm, just practice !

  • nice vid!!!

I bought a drum rudiment poster and dvd at

    DrumRudimentPoster.comx-minus the x :) it rocks!!!

  • looks stupid and boring as hell right? learning these elementary techniques is key to becoming a fantastic and INDIVIDUAL drummer =) it's all about the rudiments. you didn't have to pay Gene Krupa $100/hour to demonstrate, in slow motion, just how "elementary" his brilliant drum technique was =D

rudiments = road to greatness =) doubtless it's the same with all other instruments.

  • how did you know it was 70bpm, or was that just approx? Im just learning about paradiddles and yup, they are so cool.

  • I was always told paradiddle's were RRLR LLRL not RLRR or LRLL

  • @sadpandaami well I think as long as they serve the same function (checking the articulation of the double strokes, making sure both hands have equal strength, etc.) I don't think it's a problem. I consider both as paradiddles.

  • Comment removed

  • @sadpandaami There are variations for paradiddles. Another variation is LRRL RLLR. Its just most people know it as RLRR LRLL

  • @sadpandaami I'm pretty sure that's called inverted paradiddle, not totally sure though..

  • i want your hands!!

  • parradiddles are rlrr lrll

  • I am going to elaborate on some people's comments. The reason many people say that his hands need to loosen up isn't just about a particular technique that they have chosen. It is because it has been proven medically that playing drums, over years and years, with a tight grip can cause carpel tunnel. Musically, it chokes off the sound of the stick and drum not allowing it to resonate as much as it could. Yes, the stick can resonate too. If your intended sound is to be choked off, then it's fine.

  • Hold the sticks tight are good for control but, i do not recommend to keep your fist's shut tight this will damage muscles and not only that but stop you from smoothly and easy playing/moving, lose grip is good for bounce for a more controlled sound you tighten up more.... not to the point of strain though. Cool hope that helps :)

  • im sure on paper this may look a lot easyer.not bad how long have you been playing iv been playing for 1yrd and a half now in school im only in 7th :P some random info the tighter you hold the stickes iv notcied the sound sounds better>

  • but if u hold it too tight u wont be able to play as fast so u tense up and tensing up is a bad thing

  • i'm loving your flams!!

do you play set?? check out my vid and i'd love to hear what you think!

  • snare sounds horrible

  • you're right, it needs some tuning on the head and sanre

  • Regarding "how to hold your sticks" hold them any way you want, it's irrelevant until you start playing sloppy. If you can play the notes clean, hold them with your toes if you like.

The key to any instrument is dedicated practice.

  • Well said.

  • @JanuaryJackOLantern

lol, my friend can play marching/concert snare pretty will with match grip between his pinky and ring finger

  • @JanuaryJackOLantern thank god some1 said it bcuz i play like that and ppl try to joke the way i play yet im better than them

  • Are there any vidz on how to play these paradiddles quickly?

  • well there is a thing called practicing that would do the trick...

  • Just keep practicing the paradiddles and you will get faster.

  • Play them slowly for years every day , then do it fast.

  • for years? it takes maybe a month to hit 140 bpm, paras arn't that hard

  • This song would sound good on marching snare not set drum.

  • Alot of talk, not much diddle.

  • pretty bad technique. holding the sticks really tight

  • It's a drumset technique, that's why. And you really can't tell how tight he is holding them. Sure, it looks pretty sloppy to everyone who is used to actual rudimental style drumming (sorry aaron) but it's not the wrong technique at all. In fact, one of the best drumset techniques I have seen.

  • ha! ha! ahahahahahahahah! i play drumset. trust me. he's holdin them too tight.

  • God, you don't know anything about anything. Go away :--D

  • hahaha! Seriously? You act like I don't? I focus on rudimental drumming. Trust me, he's not holding them too tight. He knows what he's doing. That's his technique, it's not wrong, I'm sure he has a better idea of what he's doing then you do, especially if you are going to say something as stupid as "he holds them too tight"

  • well maybe he's not holding them too tight, but he's using WAY too much wrist and not enough fingers. stop arguing with me now. i've had enough. let's just agree to disagree

  • Wrong, do me a favor and check out some old DCI video's from the 1990's. Look at the technique they use. My point is there is no "wrong" technique here, especially for the drumset, there a thousand "right" techniques, everyone finds and uses their own.

To come on here and make a claim like that, your not gonna be able to run from that one.

  • hahahahahahahaha, omg its all about useing your writs you dont use your fingers!! :)

  • pretty much using too much arm aswell id say..

  • to samm1809 even if u do have a drum set there are different types of heads, sticks, and just drums overall for different types of music. maybe the person in the video has different sticks or heads from u

  • Hey in a parradiddle are all the notes the same length apart? Mine never sound right >_>

  • love the dynamics !

  • Why is he playing in the center of the drum???

  • your supposed to...

  • no... you are not supposed to play in the center of the drum...

  • Wow shut the fuck up. You obviously have no Idea what you are talking about. Where are you supposed to play then huh? The metal rim? The corner of the snare? It's a circle yo. Their are no corners. The exact center of the snare is where the The tuning nutts tension meets forming the tone.

  • thats why its an art, you can do, wateva, you want. he cud play it all 1 handed.

  • lol good luck ding paradiddles 1 handed mate

  • im just responding to ppl who getall uptite about technique and where ya hit the skins. im just saying youre free to dowhat you want, theres no law from god sayin ya gotta do this or that.

  • i think the law is enforced when you get carpel tunnel syndrome and arthuritis from shitty technique

  • eope111, when you play in the center of the drum, you get a dead sound. i watched closer, and he's on his side of the drum. Generally, you play a few inches away from the other side of the rim. And adzug, it's all about getting the right sound...

  • haha, i bet you said that just to piss people off lolz :-P

  • i meen doesnt deserve soo many views decent but could be better the flams have to be more distinguished

  • He Stoled my sticks!!!!!!!!!!!

    kkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

  • steve gadd stick RULE

  • yea it's great. It's easy to play also.

  • is that a ahead drumstick???

  • I have those sticks!!

  • now that's good concert style playing and sticking

  • i think you can do mirror image in video edit. but if u can reverse stick it i guess that is for pros lol.

  • tats a steve gadd stick,model vic firth rite?i got tat stick..haha

  • nice

  • dude can u do like a slower version of these so beginners like me can follow like a step by step tutorial tnx alot!

  • i hav those sticks! =D

  • you may want to tune up your snare drum quite a bit its a bit flarpy

  • heh heh you sed flarpy heh heh

  • You should've started slow FIRST and then FAST. I am trying to learn from you because I am back playing drum after 10 years of rehab with two broken legs and two broken arms!!!

  • You seem to have missed the point entirely. This is a demonstration at a slow tempo for students learning this solo.

See the response video. It is played at a faster tempo if that is what you are looking for.

  • this sounds like a piece i did for all district band back in high school. Awesome job!

  • thanks for the slow version. so much easier to learn that way then speed up once I've gotten down pat. and I'm glad its basic - I'm a beginner! ;)

  • What a cool little practice video.

Can ya make another with some 32nd notes thrown in it?

  • i can do regular paradidle and flamm tap

  • I posted this just to hear the audio preview

  • bahahah.....

    noob

  • dude you are the best!aha and yor website is very helpful and cool thx, greetz from poland

  • Wow. There are a LOT of dickheads out there. This is clearly an instructional vid for people practicing paradiddles. Stop being such pricks! He's cool!

  • Thanks for getting it!

  • some people are actually asking for a written solo , sheet music..!!

jesus its so slow and crap ..most people could write it with their dick whilst sedated !!

stop posting. please. stop posting!! You are crap.

  • AWFUUUUUL !! bloody awful.

  • no shit stupid its a beginner beat...

  • I enjoy this video =) it makes me really horny!! X

  • Is there printable sheet music for this?

  • What kind of sticks were those?

  • they look like Ahead sticks

  • dave weckl nylons i think

  • thanxx

  • right you are!

  • You guys know he's better then this he just puts up these videos for students of his who can't keep up at 240 bpm or something so he plays it much slower

  • hes not really holding them wrong. he just needs to play loose but keep more control over the stick. watch the stick heights.

  • thanks for the exercise. It'll be a very good help for me from the deserted island here.

  • this guy is a joke.

  • yes pinky grip :D

  • can you do one at twice the speed, like 200 - 240 BPM?

  • wtf this vid is about druming

  • those are nice sticks what kind are thos 7A and how its in black its quite solid

  • I believe those are Vic Firth Steve Gadd sticks, I used to use them on my drumset but switched over to 5AN's instead, as for the video, I've been playing in a pipe band for nearly 2 years and that solo is really basic, I can't play it cause I haven't learned it but I'll post a video of some way more technical drumming that I've been recently learning.

  • don't know were ur from, but im from NI (Northern Ireland)

ur exercises are rather well played, although the are not hard, u play them clean

i am a member of Ballycoan Pipe Band, and 1 thing il say 2 u is about ur sticks, ur technique

    ur holding them rong!!!

fix this, and ul b flying!

    lol

  • he is holin em rong

  • Nice sound! Military drum sounding.

  • do u have the sheet music for it??

  • i use to have some steve gadd sticks but i got rid of them along with my vic firth(white) with nylon tip drum corp. marching sticks. i wanna get them bitches back.

  • less arm please!!!

    use more wrist!!!

  • omg yes... dude this is a really cool solo and all but your technique could use quite a bit of work, your playing everything with your fingers, except the accents witch your playing with your arm, and also wipping with you wrist. witch generally that technique is great on stuff like rock drumset, howeveron rudiments it isn't too great..

  • tighten your throw off man its way to loose

  • I agree .... that would clean it up just nice

  • could you send me the written solo please?

    thanks.

  • can u send me written solo plz

  • Same Sticks in my hand :-)

  • steve gadds?

  • Yes, Steve Gadd Signature. The best sticks ever ;-)

  • Are those Gadd Sticks XD i dunno first thing caught my mind cause i have the Same ones.

  • what drumset is that at the end?

  • can i have the written please

  • can i have the written copy of that solo.

  • hit more in the center of the drum. but very good

  • stick hights

  • All single Paradiddle !!!

  • There is actually a few double paradiddles in there, one at the beginning and a couple at the end.

  • try to loosen your hands more and use more of the wrist and fingers, no need to use your forearm to carry out the softer strokes, ha just a comment, you can work on it if you like. anyway nice snare sound.

  • watch your stick hights

  • Cool... we have the same last name haha BLANDS RULE!

  • the handle of the ahead stix are metal right?

  • yes, these are the Steve Gadd model sticks though. *wood with nylon tip

  • are those ahead drum stix

  • Nice sound! Military drum sounding. I'm guessing those are Remo heads?

Nice heads too lol. Great drumming. Love the Paradiddle :D.

  • Use a pad

Get Rid of the twigs your using

  • Your wish is granted. Check out the linked video response.

  • the size of your sticks?

  • They are custom sticks. Slightly smaller than a 5A.

  • i don't know how to paradiddle that fast!!!

  • go slow first.......and practice with a metronome

  • i've been practicing, yesterday i did like 2 and a half hours overall of paradiddling :P and today i did about an hour and a half

  • hey, great solo. i hav a question tho. in my band, i hav to play a lot of 4 16th notes w\ an accent on the first note and its above 160 BPM. i usually do LRLR but i can see it wont help me kuz its too fast. my right hand is weaker, any ways to help me play faster w\ my right hand?

  • I WISH I KNEW HOW TO PLAY SNARE

  • i can teach you if you aer in illinoise

  • i live in michigan. how do u guys do dat???

  • it isn`t very hard, try to play on the snare for an hour, just play a little bit... anytime you find some rythms.

  • I WISH I KNEW HOW TO PLAY SNARE

  • thats freakin sick, plz check out my snare solo and comment! :)

  • Something that I kind of don't like about the phrase is " Jack of all trades master of none " is Look at percussionists. TO be a professional percussionist you have to learn how to play all percussion instruments. Well what If I play all Wood winds, does that mean I suck? Like I hate double standards.

  • nice drum wankery

  • haha drummer265's ignorance is hilarious. why do people waste time bashing when they SHOULD be taking this in and learning from it.. they'll see how far negativity will take them. but nice vid man, looks like you marched, you have nice technique. you should check my vid's you would like my style. very rudimental.

  • zephyr youre a fucking sped...without drummers other musicians tempo would be all over the fucking place and you wouldnt be able to complete a song so suck a fat one

  • stop using ur arms bro. less swing. more wrist. all in the wrist.

  • Only a nitwit would say such a thing.

  • I hate when people say that. >_>

    Drummer's are musicians too.

  • i play the drums, along with other instruments

  • if you really werent just saying that to see how many minuses u could get (which is what i thought it was at first) then u must play them pretty shit.. and these comments do indeed make you a "sped" as the guy called u before lol

  • if you really werent just saying that to see how many minuses u could get (which is what i thought it was at first) then u must play them pretty shit.. and these comments do indeed make you a "sped" as the guy called u before lol - and yeah u seriously have been a session guitarist for 15 years??! lol then u must be joking, if you really thought drummers dont count as musicians you must have no clue about the overall music and itd be difficult for you to find sessions..

  • Loser. Find me a rock album that was ever made without a drummer. Anyone can lay down a basic rock beat, but good drummers are definitely musicians.

  • ever heard of acoustic rock!

  • Sorry, I meant a good rock album.

  • you prove my point, drummers are single minded guys who hust hang around other musicians.(and i say this being a musician who plays drums as well as other instruments)

  • I play 4 instruments and compose a little. Jack of all trades, master of none, though.

  • HA HA boy you got me there. If you did your homework would have found out I am part of The Berklee College of Music Alumni and a have been a studio guitarist for around 15 years.

  • Then you should know better, music genius. "Nothing screams 'I'm important!' like a man screaming 'I'm Important!' into his cell phone."- Bud Light Presents. That's you, hotshot, desperately scrambling to gain some feeling of superiority by broadcasting your accolades on a thread that gets maybe 10 hits per day. You do indeed got me there boy HA HA.

  • Also, consider the roto-tom solo at the beginning of Pink Floyd's "Time." All roto-toms, like marching tenors, have a specific identifiable pitch and are definitely musical. Besides that, all drums have a specific pitch, though they may sound dissonant compared to other instruments.

  • what a comedian. :-P

  • wtf?

  • dude i think your awesome, keep rocking!

  • where can i get the sheet music?
