Chunky as fuck! And as far as the roadrunner albums sounding bad, that seems unfounded, as Effigy was released, not only on RR, but in 1991, and sounds fucking great! Their s/t album had probably some of the weirdest guitar tones those guys have ever had, dark and moody, but not very heavy at all. Blood Oath just seems a little to "polished," either way, I'm stoked for some new shit!
Ok so almost every metal video i watch theres always a comment against Deathcore.I wanna know what the problem with it is.I see it as another sub-genre of death metal.I listen to Cannibal Corpse as well as Whitechapel.I listen to Dying Fetus as well as Oceano.I listen to Aborted as well as Suicide Silence.I just see them all as different types of Death Metal and nothing more.Whats the big problem?Anybody feel free to elaborate. Not tryng to troll here.
Wow, none of you kids know what the fuck you're talking about. Suffocation was all about being heavy, ever since the beginning. They're using fucking triplets, big deal. This song is 100% rhythm and groove, just because you can't count it doesn't make it shitty music. It makes you a shitty listener. This song is in C standard, like every other Suffocation tune. You kids make me sick.
I understand if people like the older albums or the newer albums more than the other, but comparing Suffocation (easily one of the most influencing and original death metal bands to ever exist, not to me, but to almost every great band you like) to Slipknot, its just pointless and lacks of total sense. The style of Suffocation is INTACT, they've only polished their sound (like it or not), but if you compare the songs they re-recorded you wont find much difference in their style at all. RESPECT.
@antikriszt I still think the songs lack that atmospheric scary cave man sound that they used to have. This kinda sounds like Job for a cowboy or one of those new deathcore emo core bands. Its to chuggy. too much open note drop Z chug chug dun dun dun don don. "lets see how heavy we can be" faaacckk offf neww death metal.
@baraqijal15 I don't know if your talking about the same song and band as I am. Suffocation lost its "cave sound"? YES, that was a natural progression of almost every band of that era, you can like it or not, personally I do, in the other hand Im a fan of old school finnish death. I dont hear any "open note" riff at all!! haha, this is as elaborated and progressive as brutal death can be. And I believe this song is in B. Nothing that you said makes sense.
@Megadedly that doesnt even make sense. anyone who can hear can tell theres no rythme here, if you cant sing along and/or snap your fingers to it then theres no rythme. if you really think that this is talent then youve proved my point. takes more talent to withstand this garbage in your ears than to play it.
@OdysseyCheerBadass It seems to me you have no knowledge of music theory what so ever, so you opinion is totally mute. Snap your fingers to a rhyme? WTF? how is that even relevant.
@Megadedly nevermind, you obviously cant dunderstand difference between music and a bunch losers who think their hardcore because they can breathe a mic and bang drums to no sound or tone. just do us both a favor and go back to your noise emo kid.
@OdysseyCheerBadass You're fairly ignorant and very blinded. You must be 14. I'm a multi-instrumental and genre crossing musician, and what your saying is absolutely ridiculous and laughable.
@M08bballer Nothing, in fact I like the old school sound much better. It's just that some people don't like new studio recordings so they dislike it.
@MrDanteaguilar The old school sound was better you trendy 15 year old computer metal dummy. This song and video fuckin sucks compared to their old stuff. This sounds like fuckin slipknot.
Anyone else feel that their releases on Roadrunner Records always sound badly produced? The three albums they did on Relapse seemed perfect, with every instrument sounding extremely clear but still heavy. Now, hearing this album, the drums sound muddled at times, with the snare blending in with the cymbals and even the guitars and bass seeming to have lost a lot of definition. Am I just being an anal prick, or is this noticable?
youre 100% correct. i think the snare sound is too thick, it needs to be more defined. the distortion on the guitars and their tuning is all wrong as well. could just be what theyre going for though.
@mingles Otherwise some soulles kid will write tabs and degrades melodies to tricks, because played without heart. And personnally oi like teh sound, it's nice not have everything clear in the first listen, it takes time to accept the colours of their sound.
Though, i think the vocals could be a little less loud in teh mmix, on the other hand sometimes i actually understand the words without peeking in the booklet (yes, i really bought this album.. :-)
@michaelz6366 Breeding the Spawn is an amazing album and it might even be their best in some ways. It's a shame it suffered from such horrendous production, you can blame shitty road runner records for that, I hope they re-record that album at some point and give it the sound it truly deserves!
@AGore88 I actually prefer the Roadrunner albums, but i think that's cause I have super appreciation for Scott Burns because he pretty much gave 90's death metal its sound.

production in this case makes it only heavier and more brutal. in case of Suffocation it suits this band like a coffin suits the corpse.
