  • I sang this in a choir once. It's a pretty song but the organ doesn't offer much to it in this instance. Maybe it's just me.

  • nice playing ...

    very smooth !

  • this sounds *amazing*, I love the pure sound of this organ, congradulations!

  • Greatefull thanks to us all & to youtube too.

  • I love this! Thank you so much for playing this!

  • hast du das gespielt?

    ...echt toll!!

  • Lovely organ

  • very beautiful

  • Beautiful playing, thanks for the vid!!!

Great contrasts of soft & loud !

  • Lol im2fdu4this, why would he post a video of someone else playing and call it his own? He would have no reason at all to do so!

Beautiful playing, I love organs! I wish my church sang this song!

  • Pretty Harsh comment to leave there im2fdu4this.

I would suggest to the organist only one thing: listen to a good recording of this melody (O'Wally Wally) also titled as "As the Deer Longs" and a myrid of other titles, and polish up your rendition of it.

To me, it sounds like you're still a little unsure of the melody and more importantly, the chords.

Good Job though, and for a lap top, thats one heck of a recording.

  • Thats pretty harsh dude to say it wasn't him playing.

Only suggestion I have is to listen to a good recording of the hymn, as stated known as "O Wally Wally" or "As the Deer Longs" or a myrid of other titles, and smooth your movement up a bit. Sounds like you're still a little unsure of the melody.

Good Job overall!.... and for a Lap Top that has one heck of a recording ability.

  • tell the organist on sunday, great for a offertory or, a prelude to enter service, but I don't beleive your playing this piece I think you went to a service and, recorded it, and, then took a vidio of the organ when ,the sexton was cleaning the church on monday, but, practice makes perfect.

  • I'm sorry you dont believe that it is me playing. I can honestly say that it is me playing and I dont have any reason to put other people's work up and call it my own. But you are right, practice makes perfect. Thanks for watching, or rather listening.

  • How can anyone make such a splendid organ sound so BLAH???? I played there on May 13, 2005, and you can be assured that it didn't sound like this, when I was playing it?

  • Sorry you did not like it. It could also have been the way it was recorded on a laptop and not with any decent microphone and the location being right next to the organ and not in the hall of the church.

  • we're playing this in symphonic band... we even get to sing in it...

  • This building is nice...I think I went to a funeral here a few years ago.

  • In addition to "The Water is Wide" this tune is known as "Wally Wally" from England. There is a good choir anthem (The Gift of Love)by Hal Hopson on this tune. It can be sung as a solo, too. The text is a paraphrase of the Corinthian text about love.

    Hausorgel

  • also our church sing Psalm 42 to this tune. "As the hart longs for flowing streams, so longs my soul for You, O God..." very pretty.

  • There is a good choir anthem (The Gift of Love)on this tune by Hal Hopson with the Corinthians text paraphrased. It can be sung as a solo, too.

  • Nice video - That is really well done with nice slow movement and Zoom. Organ is insteresting sound - Too bad you didn't get more of the building reverb.

  • very good music, high qualiti

  • Thanks, its using the mic on a MBP believe it or not!

  • Enjoyed this lovely piece "The Water Is Wide", please get a video of your playing this beautiful Austin organ.

  • awesome!

  • its the same words hehe it words well at communin not bein rude but i take it ur catholic

  • I just looked up the words. I agree it would work well then. And yes I am catholic. What I was wondering (and im sure others would agree) is if you could post you playing the song on your organ. I just found the sheet music to it so maybe I'll try that one.

  • If your computer has a built in mic, look for a recording program (free) that you can use, or use your digital camera, or video camera.

  • the words of when i survery the wonderous cross fit this song beautifully i played it at mass this week

  • Do you think you could post your version?? I'm glad to hear that it works!

  • didnt the T.A.P.S. ghost hunters do a paranormal search at one of these music places in hartford I cant remember the name of it

  • 3,000 hits!!! I never guessed this would be that popular especially since I didnt have a video of me playing. I would like to thank everyone for watching and commenting. Also thanks to Zgietl who named the song. I promise that I will get out and videotape myself playing again. I hope to be out in the NYC area this summer as well as in CT. Thanks again!!!

  • You play with feeling, continue to play and study.

  • The name of the song is The water is wide

  • do you know the composer of the waters wide cause i would really like to play this on our church organ

  • uve nice stops set

  • wat the name of the tune is called i no the song is when i survey

  • I dont know the name of it. I remember hearing it years ago when I was a kid and when I was at the church recording, I was playing around with some different stops and heard the first combination you hear in the recording and it all just came to me. Its a very nice song and Im glad I could remember it.

  • wat do u call that peicse of music it sounds really good on

  • I'm not sure of your question. Are you asking what I played it on? or what the song is?

  • Christopher81,

You poor dear. Austin never EVER voiced from the console-----they KNOW better! Who told you that they DID...? (Did you REALLY study with Haskell..?)

Austin organs are the equilivant Jaguars of the 21st Century----as well as the 20th ----and a late part of the 19th Century to boot!

    Kimberly Austin has

    ABSOLUTELY

THE best hair of ANY organ company president

    in history!

    How do you top THAT?

    Martin (meow!)

  • The Harmonic Trumpet 8' is quite brazen. Sadly Austin does/did a lot of their voicing from the console and not out in the room which is why in a lot of instances, the organ doesn't seem to "Get out".

  • I lived in Hartford for nearly 4 years and know this organ quite well. Eze is a great organist, but I must say this organ is very drab! In the loft it's quite loud, but out in the room it doesn't suffice; sadly.

  • I agree the only stops that make it out that far are the open 8' reeds and the 32' bombard. I guess thats why there is also the organ stops behhind the altar to help it out

  • This is a really an electronic/pipe organ. The electronic part allows the organist to write a song onto a CD or hard drive and allow the organist to hit a button and the organ will then play itself.

  • I'm sorry I dont think I understand what you are saying. This organ is a real pipe organ- there isnt any CD parts to it nor can you do any direct recording from it or playback. I recorded this using my laptop. I dont know if there is such a thing for an Austin Organ, but this one defently does not have it.

  • Are you using a MIDI softsynth such as Hauptwerk?

  • Once again- there is no CD or MIDI components to this organ. I used a mic and my laptop to record it. This organ is just a normal Pipe organ
