I was truly captivated by this game, from beginning to end. I didn't even mind that the first half of the game chose the characters you were going to control, and only after that were you able to pick your own party. And I didn't even mind the "linearity" of the game, because it pushed you along a really compelling first chapter to this series's story. After 100+ hours spent on this game, this trailer still gives me just as many chills as when I first saw it
plus i love how this trailer totally ruins parts of the game, they should never include clues to what happens to characters in a trailer. when you play the game after seeing this trailer a few times your mind puts 2+2 together and realises what is coming with certain characters :/

@pjv0001 Not really, there were no citys or sidequests and side-areas, you stumbled on all the secrets as you progressed in the game and the story's center were politics and not the characters. I'm not saying the game wasn't good as I enjoyed it but it's not a masterpiece like previous final fantasy games.

i wish reality helmets were more legite, get sent into our game and make our own story out of it as ourselves and even change the outcome of the story and live a life afterward

@wolfangs19 mmm well when it comes to rpg's their main goal is to deliver a story and characters over everything else. Gameplay just happens to be there so it would be considered a game still, instead of a cg movie. So donbt expect to have fun with the controls, but story is where rpgs just shine and out due even call of duty and stuff.

Thhe most thing I hate in this game is the combat system. Its like watching a screensaver, why couldnt they bring back the system from FF8? It was perfect in my opinion!
The people that bash this game are the people that read and see what other people say and go off of THEIR experiences. This is a beautiful game in every aspect and I will defend and keep that opinion regardless of any backlash. Give it a try, if you don't like it by the end then you weren't meant for it.

I've played crappy 2D games all my life. I just hit 14, this is my first real game. When I saw the opening, I thought it was real life. Im tired of people complaining about how linear the game was. These people were running away throughout most of the game, so naturally, they dont have time to waste doing stupid things like talking to townspeople and feeding stray animals. Once they decided to stop running, the game opened up and allowed for some exploration and sidequests. But you have to remember, the group are all set on achieving their goals, and they cant sit around for long periods of time and risk becoming Cieth.
Funny how some ppl havent even finished or started playing ff13 yet, then they jump into talking about ff1-10... just let the game be, u cant expect it to be the same as 1-10..that'll be freakin boring. In my opinion, ff13 has a reallly mysterious and dramatic storyline. FF13 is my favorite game of all time :)

@theprophet113 First of all, forgive my non perfect english. You must start with the first Final Fantasy's. These new Final Fantasy have lost the spirit in my opinion and aren't that good. If you don't mind to play 2D games, you should try FF 4 or 5. Or also you can start with the 7th, wich is considered by a lot of fans as the best Final Fantasy. Hope I have help you.
the first few hours of the game sucks but once u get passed those few hours it picks up and next thing you'll find out that your hooked and its really is a memorable game. A must play game.
I'm getting this game for christmas for the PS3. I know it has gotten mixed reviews and I have an idea of whats good and bad about it but I would like to try it out before 13-2 comes out
I'm about to give this game a second try. I watched the trailer for XIII-2 earlier, and it looks very good. There are some things that I disliked about this game (obviously, as they made me quit), such as the combat system (I prefer that of 1-10), Vanille's voice, boring antagonists, and the terrible sidequests, However, a lot of these dislikes probably arose from having too high of expectations for the game. Now, going into it with an open mind, I hope that I can enjoy it more.
@GileadsFinest In order to seriously wanna give ff13 another try, you must be open minded and get yourself excited to keep playing eg. get excited bout the sequel or think of ways the game will end. I used to be like you, when i first played it it sucked. When i tried again to become one of my favorite games on the ps3 and possibly on of the best in the series.
@GileadsFinest You will not regret it. And as a loyal FF fan you are obligated to take in the various and vibrant worlds and art the FF staff has put forth. You'll like it, I know this for sure if you've been playing the FF series.
@GileadsFinest I just purchased it again too. Played through it when it first came out, and I walked into it with the expectation that it would be the equivalent of a cure to cancer. I got impatient with the game once I made it to Gran Pulse because I felt overwhelmed that it went from being very linear to open-ended.
Going into this second romp with realistic expectations and I'm thoroughly looking forward to it.

@theprophet13 I would start with 6 and work your way up from their. They're on PSN. 13 is a great game, and I'm sure you'd like it, but the classics are amazing.

all right after hearing so much about final fantasy, i think i'm going to give it a try. can anyone tell me which game i should start with? the only consoles i have available to me are PC and xbox 360

@theprophet113 First of all, forgive my non perfect english. You must start with the first Final Fantasy's. These new Final Fantasy have lost the spirit in my opinion and aren't that good. If you don't mind to play 2D games, you should try FF 4 or 5. Or also you can start with the 7th, wich is considered by a lot of fans as the best Final Fantasy. Hope I have help you.

the first few hours of the game sucks but once u get passed those few hours it picks up and next thing you'll find out that your hooked and its really is a memorable game. A must play game.

I'm about to give this game a second try. I watched the trailer for XIII-2 earlier, and it looks very good. There are some things that I disliked about this game (obviously, as they made me quit), such as the combat system (I prefer that of 1-10), Vanille's voice, boring antagonists, and the terrible sidequests, However, a lot of these dislikes probably arose from having too high of expectations for the game. Now, going into it with an open mind, I hope that I can enjoy it more.

@GileadsFinest In order to seriously wanna give ff13 another try, you must be open minded and get yourself excited to keep playing eg. get excited bout the sequel or think of ways the game will end. I used to be like you, when i first played it it sucked. When i tried again to become one of my favorite games on the ps3 and possibly on of the best in the series.

@GileadsFinest I just purchased it again too. Played through it when it first came out, and I walked into it with the expectation that it would be the equivalent of a cure to cancer. I got impatient with the game once I made it to Gran Pulse because I felt overwhelmed that it went from being very linear to open-ended.
Going into this second romp with realistic expectations and I'm thoroughly looking forward to it.

@dragon917J It's kinda nice but it's FUCKIN LINEAR. I mean, you can't do anything but do what the game orders you. The graphics are amazing but, the game it's not that much. It's a good game, but it's linear. You need to keep this in your mind.
