  • One of my favourite Zappa tracks. The studio version on Overnite Sensation is superb! Ruth Underwood was sexy, and a phenominal all-round percussionist!

  • Frank Zappa is an epic troll. :D

  • love you ruth you little cutiepie

  • how 'bout you right there....!?

  • poo poo tana in montana ah ah :) "puttana" means whore in italian.. what a joke!

  • I live in montana, and i was here when frank zappa brought the dental floss riding his pigmy pony, good shit.

  • The edits make this very hard to watch. I would much rather see his fingers on the fret board during the guitar solo than some seizure inducing video splicing.

  • amazing guitar and funniest ever version love it thanks for posting mineralist.... u da maan

  • Is this from SNL around 1978 ? I was out at a bch house vacationing in Hawaii...I lived there but had a lil party going at da beach, but ran inot town & got a TV & barely got the signal...remember rabbit ears ? LOL

  • frank zappa is the most interesting man in the world. not that stupid beard guy that nobody knows

  • 5:17 poo poo tannanaaaa

  • Napoleon Murphy Brock is awesome!

  • Il maestro...

  • I recall the hippies at the New haven arena digging on what was to me noise (10 yrs old,mu uncle worked there) I bet this crowd is lost as to the direction frank went,Montana soon, yellow snow, goblin girl, fine girl,

  • Hahaha. Look at the confused hippies in the crowd

  • Had a recent dentil crop failure.....john mellencamp & willie nelson is comin' by to help....I fuckin' hope....

  • Frank rocks,....

Now how about checking out a hot up and coming band from Boston,

    Click on the link below

  • who is the afro-american who sings the awesome vocals? please someone?

  • @kuburga he's Napoleon Murphy Brock, he sings in Zappa Plays Zappa band as well

  • @DarkdreamFr love

  • @kuburga You are to se his wah wah sax solo from the same gig as this also

  • How about you right over there?

  • FRANK "JESUS" ZAPPA IS A LENDARY SUPERHERO!!!!!!!

  • I had a seizure while watching the solo

  • With my zircon encrusted tweezers in my hand holding a smoking joint

  • @oldschoolhawks Econimical style.

  • I think some of franks lyrics are def out there. But you fucking people could never come up with the poetry he writes! listening to bands sing about hot chicks cool cars an getting high gets old! the shit frank sings about u could never come up with! Thats why its so cool! Its like hes from another planet, a planet of awesome!!

  • I see remarks about Zappa's lyrics. You can't have one without the other. The way people speak when it comes to phrasing, is how his music is written. Furthermore, nobody could put it down in words quite like Frank. I'm the Slime wouldn't be the same without words. Either would any other Zappa tune.

  • Had to see FZ live for the best effect.

But, could listen to instrumentals (only)...nothing

    wrong with that

  • I'm trying to get Frank Zappa. I must be missing something. I just don't see what the fuss is. No wonder he never became main stream like Led Z or the Beatles or the Stone or Who or Doors or whoever played the greatest music in the history of the world.

  • @JayGatsbyOdysseus While I can see not getting Frank Zappa for his lyrics (I would agree that most of them are crap), he has some of the greatest musical pieces ever written for a rock band. He has true greatness in his compositions as far as instrumental pieces go. Check out Son of Mr. Green Genes and Willie the Pimp off of Hot Rats, or Chunga's Revenge, Transylvania Boogie, or The Nancy and Mary Music off of Chunga's Revenge. Listen particularly to the guitar and rythym sections.

  • I've said it so many times, but I really wish I was born in a different decade so I could have experienced this stuff when it was live.

  • Still as fresh as the day it was released, to bad about the video quality.

Hey, maybe you folks would like to check out my group,

    click on the link below

  • What a talented artist! His music is truly great, but I find it difficult to listen to his inane lyrics. I do understand that he is parodying society and music culture, but that fact doesn't make the lyrics any less stupid.

  • @lmcnellis He was an aberrated eccentric genius. Why not just listen to his instrumental music and leave the lyrics to the other millions who enjoy it and find it entertaining.

  • Frank Zappa

    December 21st 1940-December 4th 1993

The Dental Floss Guitar Bender refuses to die.

  • yeah!

  • Napoleon Murphy Brock, George Duke, Ruth Underwood, Chester Thompson. Wow.

  • Comment removed

  • was he against mainstream education and organized religion? reply you scum bags

  • @abc1235222 Yes, and he has a track record to prove it.

  • Zappa is awesome, reminds me off all that microdot I think I took.

  • ok camara guy zappas amazing enough without you inducing a seizure

  • Damn! That brings back memories! I think?

  • I actually used to own a horse just about that big, but I could never get him to go with me anywhere near a dental floss bush...

  • I wish my girlfriend looked like Ruth Underwood (back inna day).

  • "I just might grow me some bees'

  • 3:33-4:03 never fails to cheer me up on a slow or rainy day

  • Forgive me, but I have no clue what the crap he's saying.

  • Poo poo ta nanaaa and Poo poo ta nanaaa ♥ love it xDD

  • @KelanteV Just hush... right after you tell me something....I'll be off with my lil' pony......

  • 83 folks don't have zirconium encrusted tweezers.

  • Viva Zappa !

  • The music is great. The psychedelic editing is bad, if annoying is bad..

  • Even if you are of sane mind you seem to get high listening to Zappa

  • @zengull1 i'm stoned right now, it's pretty cool. life's pretty good. alligators. yep

  • Poo Poo Ta Ta Dah?

  • @scizotts woopy tie-o tie-yay

  • What? Ride like a cowboy? I like the 'dipshit' version myself!

  • BOX!

  • Just never been able to enjoy Zappa. If something is so consciously cerebral how can one lose oneself in it and not be aware that this is 'art in the making' rather than art that makes one forget there is distance between it and oneself?

  • i used to cook breakfast for my crewmates on a submarine while listening to this. talk about your eggs being all fucked up @ 4 a.m. in the morning

  • Every tune by Zappa is a collage of sounds and musical occurrences, in his pursuit of "the music for the music" dream. Quite a genius. We miss his sharp wit (both, musically and verbally) a lot.

  • good guitar in this song

  • He almost has a King Crimson prog feel to his music but his clown attitude kept him from getting the same respect.Maybe Frank should have done some drugs instead of being against them.

  • @Big77Jim I don't know if your trolling really hard or actually being serious when you say that.

  • Comment removed

  • @Big77Jim King crimson cannot hold a monkey nut to zappa

  • I love the fast-cutting you did for the guitar solo!

  • that 'stache is something else

  • this is a masterpeice. the problem with frank zappa is he is not a quality of quanity guy. so much of his stuff is just "meh". this is an amazing peice though.

  • @woundspooden Are you kidding me?! All of his stuff was quality. Maybe not according to your standards, but always to his. He always maintained the highest level of musicianship (both in his records and live performances). As for his songwriting ability and lyricism, I could easily say the same. You just don't understand what he's on about. As one of his producers once said, "You either get it or you don't."

  • Buen FranK¡

  • what the hell's montana?

  • @ThatsaCryinShame One of thoses states that exists mainly to take up space in the center of the US and has a ton of farms. According to Guitar Hero 2 it takes a while to drive a van through the city. Peggy Hill comes from Montana. There are also a bunch of Mountains.

Michigan is a more kick ass state!

  • @DimensionsofChange montana can't be all bad if this song is any hint, i mean Zappa changed my entire perspective on baby snakes, i used to despise them until i heard that song.

  • @ThatsaCryinShame Baby Snakes made you straight?

  • @DimensionsofChange yes that would be the next reasonable question

  • @ThatsaCryinShame hmmmm ok then

  • I wanna grow dental floss!

Oh yeah, my cousin just got engaged with his girlfriend. AWESOMEE!!!

  • The crowd at 0:46 ..... "What is this sht?"

  • Frank taught me everything i need to know about dental floss :)

  • So fantastic song, one of the nicest for your ears.

  • thanks to my dad i know all the words to this song, and a lot of others too haha i love this =)

  • Listen all you people from Montana. This as just a song a song it is not about you PERSONALLY.

It IS about entrepreneurialism and the bone headed american dream. As in meeting someone who's sole purpose in life is to be a dental floss tycoon. Feel?

    Checkyshit?

It is about CAPITALISM and how stupid are the egotists that employ thousands of people so that they can have a comfortable life at the expense of others. But the dream is a myth hence the tiny horse. Read Howard Zinn.

  • Ah Frank at the height of his powers. Not only does this song not get old after about 400 listens, it just gets better.

  • Brock makes this video. Fucking hilarious

  • THIS is the greatest achievement in the history of mankind.

Poo poo tan nan nah and poo poo tan nan nah.

    Idon'tcareifyouthinkit'ssilly. Idon'tcareifyouthinkit'ssilly...

  • Is Montana the only place where you can grow Dental Floss?

Cuz i'm thinking about raising me up a crop, but i can't find any land in MT.

  • Year?

  • the quality here sucks

  • @proprinters blame analouge tape

  • poo poo ta na na

  • that black man ruined the song with that stuid interlude

  • @donnybasshero but he made up for it at the end

  • @donnybasshero that's how the song was composed.

  • @donnybasshero The black man is the main atraction of this version

  • so thats were dental floss comes from...

  • Zappa, cool boots, bad ass guitar!!

  • This song is so fucking retarded. Zappa was obviously tripping on acid when he made this

  • @MeaningXOfXFear , do your research, Frank was anti drugs, you obviously don't knw a thing bout Mr. Zappa.........

  • hahahahhhahahaahhahahahahahahahah

  • Is He Serj Tankian's father?

  • @mozdzierz95 serj tankian wishes he was related to frank.

  • Brock is marvelous!

  • Good song, too bad Montana sucks as a place to live;)...(Yes, I live there...)

  • Quite frankly as a bone fide member of the Montana Movement for Christianity I find this kind of tiny - horse floss entrepreneurial cowboy western fantasy realism upon my borders to be a flagrant disregard for the small white butterfly ideas that leave my mind only to live for a day and be forgotten at meal times.

Why my forefathers. Sarah Palin. Manifest destiny. You BET I'M ANGRY.

Who does he think he is. This is my small world. How dare this music. GOD!

Who does this man think he is?!

  • @themec Hahaha Christianity sucks ass and is for fairy tale believers. Did you not get the memo that GOD is just a big placebo perpetuated by ignorance?...Its all about Darwin, Zappa and Dental Floss!!!

  • @godawefulll No way. I,m gonna stab those Idahoans and dakotans not to even mention the cananandadian heathens. Stab them with my jesus tweezers. you feel me?

  • @themec should'nt christianity be about respect for others and peace?

didn't jesus said to love each other?

sadly, it's people like you who ruin our world

  • @zilou123 Please forgive me with your famous Christian forgiveness. Then, after that, please try to develop a sense of humor. Then, please look into Frank Zappa's views on religion. Then please explain how I am ruining the world. Is it with sophisticated humor?

  • Comment removed

  • @themec i really don't know what to say.. except maybe ask if your mad?

i don't get why people are just sure if they write a joke on internet everyone will understand the humorous tone in the way they sa.. WAIT WHAT? you didn't say it , you wrote it

calm the fuck down bro ( btw im not christian) ( btw 2: im not frank zappa, thus, i have my own opinion on religion, sry bro ( btw don't you think i know his opinion on religion? ), tho you can still try to copy him)

now go learn how to play trumpet

  • @godawefulll I do not believe I have been in receipt of this 'memo'.

  • @themec redneck

  • @zilou123 Just so you know, most of the people here in Montana are hippies and hipsters

  • This was Frank's best band, IMHO.

  • coolest voice ever

  • is there a better quality version of this specific performance be it video or audio ?

  • Who needs drugs!?!?!

  • Frank didn't need to use lsd, because lsd flowed through him naturally.

  • @ozwood666 no!! franck didn't need to use LSD because the substance didn't want to leave his mind :)

  • 75 People wish they could grow Dental Floss Zappa is the man!!!!

  • 74 idiots pressed the wrong button. Well, let's forgive them.

  • @fredhandl Let's NOT forgive them, those fools..

  • There is more music here than I've heard on the radio in 20 years combined.

  • The band line up from around 1975 was awesome.

    (1973–1975)

Zappa then formed and toured with smaller groups that variously included Ian Underwood (reeds, keyboards), Ruth Underwood (vibes, marimba), Sal Marquez (trumpet, vocals), Napoleon Murphy Brock (sax, flute and vocals), Bruce Fowler (trombone), Tom Fowler (bass), Chester Thompson (drums), Ralph Humphrey (drums), George Duke (keyboards, vocals), and Jean-Luc Ponty (violin).

  • LONG LIVE ZAPPA!!

    RIP babes;

    :o)

  • This song should be much longer, something like 4.5 hours seems suitable.

  • @godu1111 and i would listen to the entire thing i am not lying

  • @godu1111

they would need plenty of watermelon to feed tha black guy. this would drastically effect the ticket prices.

  • @godu1111 riiight

  • Thanks for posting this. As cheesy as the video quality is, it's still great just too see this stuff.

    RIP Frank

If you're in the audience and like what we do, we'd like you to know that we like you all too!

  • The first album I ever owned was Hot Rats. Stll not sure if it was because I liked it so much as my parents hated it. Either way I was hooked and have at some time owned most of his albums. Compopser second to none and possibly the greatest social commentator/lampooner on modern life and "The American Way". I bet he's still pissing himself laughing. History will verify his genius. Don't be surprised if your grandchildren ask about this weird guy called Zappa they are studying at school

  • listen guys!!!

    That's music

  • I've started listening to Zappa quite recently and I've discovered that his best songs begins with the letter M. Such as this one, Muffin man and My guitar wants to kill your mama.

  • nice

  • @chrissurvive101

I live in MT too we're the only two Zappa fans here! BTW Don't eat the yellow snow

  • Great song, but man, did he waste a lot of time editing to create that atrocious cutting effect where it switches between him and the band.

  • Zappa's music is quite sophiticated, brilliant. It ain't the so common 4/4 bars, therefore ain't so many tribute Bands ( besides his son) playing Zappa. I welcome and support any bands that will ply his stuff with a high degree of respect to the original material.

  • Love it....Would love to get together with zappa fan's...And just maybe set up a band playing his stuff anybody up for it...Need help folks....Manchester UK....

  • @Evilpacman828 it´s Napoleon Murphy Brock, The line up was: Frank Zappa:-Voice And guitars, George Duke:- Keyboards ,Ruth Underwood:-Percussions,Chester Thompson:- Drums, Bruce Fowler Bass And Napoleon Murphy Brock:-Voice And Sax

  • This is good consumerism criticism

  • is this a 3d video?

  • saw him at the armadillo in austin texas 1975

    impressive

  • My first Zappa record. Wonderful.

  • excellllent un maÌtre!!!

  • Lordy, Itsd been like a life time since I had me a good ol dose of the FZ.Saw him 3 times in my youth. Capt. Beefherat was there. The best I saw him live was with the Mothers of Invention. Give me ur dirty love, and a little bit of Dinamo Humm!!!

  • lol 3:45

  • whos the black guy at 3:36?

  • @Evilpacman828

    le magnifique Napoleon Murphy Brock

  • how the fuck did frank zappa get so popular?

  • @poop634 because he's awesome

  • @poop634 Why not?

  • @poop634: "how the fuck did frank zappa get so popular?"

People had a better awareness for real style back then (not to speak of his musical abilities, but he even did punk rock - "i´m so cute" - on Sheik Yerbouti !)...

Counter question: Why do you think Viacom bought MTV at the stock exchange in 1998 + changed it to a silly soap opera??? Ever watched the partly subversive night program with alternative music on British MTV till the mid-90s (which could be received in half of Europe) ???

  • me and an easy bake oven and a pygmy pony and this diogenes lamp, and this chair

  • 70 people ate yellow snow

  • EVERYONE LISTEN UP

    descent Music Listeners, you rock

On 28th NOVEMBER we will all be visiting Justin Biebers "One Time" video

which has over 160 million views.

On that day everyone must flag, leave a negative comment and dislike the video.

Help us destroy this modern autotune music that has ruled the world. The goal is to make the dislike bar bigger than the like bar.

Copy and paste this to good vids:ANYTHING GOOD! Thumbs up this plan. THUMBS IT UP!

  • No drugs needed!

  • GREATEST MUSICIAN OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You can either get into this, or you can't. I can't. Amazing A++ musicians tho. Goes to show you, you dont need the dope to write fked up music.

  • Frank named this song "Montana" because he figured it was "surely the only place where dental floss could possibly originate." God bless him and his exquisite sense of humor!

  • i told a 12 year old that they really do grow dental floss in montana...he believes me

  • I myself also live in Montana n grow a crop of dental floss every year
