  • A week this saturday im been a LD (Light Desighning) for a stage performance of this film i can not wait will be amazing.

  • Okay, officially confirms I was born in the wrong century and the wrong country......

  • Aw .. the trailers nowadays don't have that "golden voice" in narrating, like they used to..

  • i saw the move this convinced me :D

  • Own this great film & have watched it so many times! I'm almost done reading the novel - which is hilarious & heart-breaking & timeless! Treated myself to this "teaser." Thanks for sharing it ~

  • Alan Rickman is so effing handsome!!!!!! :")))

  • i love it!!!

  • i dont like this movie, come on now thumbs me down

  • I fell in love of Emma Thompson with this movie.

  • some characters from love actually :3 best films ever!

  • lol, from prada to nada is the modern version. hahaha.

  • Is the soundtrack in the background not from Little Women?

  • @LovelyFeline Yeah, it's the Little Women end titles. =)

  • I watched love actually last night . there was Emma Thompson, Hugh Grant and Alan Rickman in it and now this ? so happy :)

  • funny how they put Kate Winslet and Hugh Grant at the end as unknown actors... lol..

  • Hugh Grant such a great actor that does not get the credit he deserves!

  • Do u guys prefer Sense and Sensibility or Pride and Prejudice? Both movie or book? I personally like P&P better both book and movie but that might just be me.

  • @cherisezhi i think it's normal to prefer P&P. Emma is considered to be austen's most accomplished and flawless work and Pride and Prejudice is just a classic. so yeah, i think it's normal to always look at those two. i know i do. that said, i have neither read nor seen sense and sensibility but i didnt even prefer emma over pride and prejudice so i doubt this one will do it ;) i just love P&P too much :)

  • Omigod. Snape and Rose. YESSSSSS

  • PROFESSOR SNAPE!!

  • That was the Little Women score :P

  • at the end, who did Colonel Brandon be with?

  • @ojamajoyy Marianne.

  • @ojamajoyy Marianne Dashwood (Kate Winslet)

  • Snape, Umbridge and Doctor House, whatisthis

  • Alan!!!!!!! :D I love you!!!!! You're the best Snape they could've gotten! :D

  • Kate Winslet, period!

  • Brilliant trailer!

I'm still reading the book so I can't watch the movie yet :/

I screamed when I saw Alan rickman!!!! :D

  • Oh lord, the accent of the voice over makes me want to shoot myself. "Elenarrrr."

    But an excellent movie nonetheless.

  • Alan....gosh he looks so good!

  • that song at the end sounds just like the one from little women!

  • I can't believe this trailer! Too much willoughby, not enough Brandon!!!!

  • oh goodness alan you beautiful man!!!!!

  • Thumbs up if you love Alan Rickman for Alan Rickman....not for Snape.

I've never even seen or read harry potter, and I love Alan.

  • @blkRNcld101

I do think Alan is a marvelous actor. I love him in all the movies I have seen him in...even when he plays a villain...but why deprive yourself from watching him in Harry Potter? He as perfect for that role. How ever, I do hope he finds another great role. I am getting tired hearing people regard him as Snipe all the time.

  • @blkRNcld101 i love almost every character he plays hahaha

  • BECOME A FAN OF PERIOD DRAMA MOVIES ON FACEBOOK :)

  • MUST WATCH

  • the music playing in the background is from little women

  • I've always loved this movie, even before HP ever came out. I think of HP as a reunion of S&S actors;

    Alan Rickman: Professor Snape/Colonel Brandon

    Emma Thompson:Professor Trelawney/Eleanor Dashwood

    Gemma Jones:Poppy Pomfrey/Mrs. Dashwood

    Robert Hardy:Minister Fudge/Sir John Middleton

    Elizabeth Spriggs:Original Fat Lady/Mrs. Jennings

    Imelda Staunton: Deloris Umbridge/Chralotte Palmer

  • omg i read in wiki that emma Thompson ( elinor) and Greg Wise (John Willoughby) married from 2003 until now, this is weird for me.

  • ...Isn't Emma Thompson Professor Trelawney? And thats kinda ironic that Professor Snape is in in there too.....hmmmmmm....

  • @AccioStarkid They play married in Love Actually. Talk about strange ;dd

  • HOLY CRAP. SNAPE!.

  • Awww... I always fall in love with Colonel Brandon every time I see this movie, it's imposible not to live him, he's perfect.

P.S. Finish the stupid Snape thing, his name is Alan Rickman. He has worked in lot of movies and most of thel actors of H.P. have huge previous careers in british films.

Thank God Colin Firth never worked in H.P, I imagine people know him only because of that ¬¬

  • THIS MUSIC IS FROM LITTLE WOMEN!!!!

    Did anyone else notice that?

  • Awesome movie. Kate Winslet is so pretty and so funny in this film. I loved all of the characters. One of my favorite movies. Jane Austen was a genius.

  • my favorite movie im reading the book now:D

  • Biggest crush on Kate Winslet...

  • @stevedacool I have no idea who you are...

BUT I FREAKIN LOVE YOU HARRY POTTER FANS UNITE!!! :DD Internet hug

  • @InsaneJul aaand umbridge plays that annoying wife of dr. house hahaha it's aaall connected :)

  • thank you, Jane Austen <3

  • Profesor Snape and Professor Trelawney are gonna hook up! :P

  • aww I totally adore this movie<33 full with awesome brittish actors:)))

  • Does anyone know the name of the trailer music used here?

  • @mondomondomondomcmon it's by thomas newmann, orchard house i think...

  • @mondomondomondomcmon Yeah its called "Orchard House" by Thomas Newman from his Little Women soundtrack.

  • Those 10 dislikes dont see much of the world

  • lamp

  • Daammmmmm!! Every guy in this movie is sexxy!! :o

  • best. ever.

  • sense and sensible ability

  • alan rickman makes any movie good!

  • Everybody in the Columbia pictures agreed for Hugh Grant to act as Edward Ferrars because he was Too good-looking !

  • I love this movie! Thanks for sharing this beautiful trailer!

    Gotta love Jane Austin adaptations!

  • My favorite movie ever!

  • Did anyone else notice that this music is from Little Women??

  • @CGColeman6 yeah ur right! i thought it sounded familiar

  • Hi brother needs to chat a, latin women busizz4me.info

  • So well done that I forgive Emma Thompson both for casting herself despite being far too old for the part and for putting in so many of her own lines and characters.

But whatever were they thinking with this terrible music? Had they not yet chosen the lovely material used in the actual film?

  • Emma did not cast herself. It was Ang Lee, the director who wanted her to play Elinor and he wasn't wrong at all :)

  • idk why but I always made fun of willowbe

  • Alan is so charming and adorable ... love him

  • eewww hugh grant is so ugly

  • @kandiigurlWOW not to mention he cant talk without stuttering every line

  • I hope, it is good film. I am watching it now :D

  • I'd choose Colonel Brandon anyday :D

  • the trailer makes it look kind of boring and doesn't show the wit and humour.

  • Sometimes, we tend to ignore what's right in front of our eyes and still look forward... that's the reason why we always ends up with a wrong decision.. But it's always never too late to make things right. Let's just not forget to learn lessons from our very own mistakes... That's what this movie is all about.... :))

  • This awesome movie introduced me to the work of Jane Austen. In my life I had both a " Willoughby" and a Colonel Brandon" Same ending

  • what is the song that plays to this trailer??!?!?!

  • Ohh! Sorry guys, but I just love Greg Wise more than Alan in this movie!! Absolutely cute and good-mannered and humourous! (of course, it is before he turned into such a jerk!)

  • Anybody know the name of the music piece that is playing throughout the trailer? I know it was used for Little Women.

  • @BornYesterday0126 I think it's called Orchard House. You can find it if you youtube it :)

  • i don't know why, but i HATE Hugh Grant. Maybe it's because im so loyal to Colin Firth ever since i watched bridget jones... never mind, i know why i hate hugh grant now. :)

  • Professor Snape!!!!!! haha i love hin And Hugh Grant Soooooo sexy!!!!!

  • and Professor Trelawney! Elinor is played by same actress-emma thompson....isnt it funny? snape & trelawney

  • Oh my god, Alan Rickman.. *faint*

  • @XMeadowsOfHeavenX i know.. i had the same reaction:):):)

  • @XMeadowsOfHeavenX Isn't he gorgeous! When he walks up while she's playing the piano...omg!

  • @XMeadowsOfHeavenX i wish there was a love button for this comment.

  • lame

  • I loved this picture,. mainly because of the combination Rickman-Thompson and I ststarted reading Jane Austin...... boring!!!!! so utterly boring I could not finish it.

  • @kamion53 Well, I don't think Jane Austen is boring :O

I laugh and cry a lot with her books. :)

  • I'm finishin the book and can't wait to watch this movie. Is Alan Rickman Colonel Brandon? I dearly love this character!

  • @vickylima92 Yes he definately is, and you will love the film. Watch it over and over again, Alan Rickman is magnificent as Brandon, every expression on his face tells the story. ENJOY!

  • Go CAVA

  • hey im reading this book ! cool never knew thare was a movie

  • That's the same music from Little Woman, another classic.

  • I love this movie

but I have never been able to get over the fact that Cap. Brandon was also Judge Turpin whovwas also in love with his ward.

  • Remake!!!!

  • Heyy, it's snape!!! :)

  • @redcherrys1 i know right! i just noticed it...

  • I love this movie...

  • Hugh Laurie! Don't forget Hugh Laurie! i don't care how small of a part he has, he rocks!

  • great movie... there are a lot of memorable quotes

"always resignation and acceptance. always prudence and honour and duty... elinor, where is your heart?"

i just can't believe that 'severus snape' could be so gentle...

  • @MissStrawberryDrop He can do it all. From the greatest villains to the best of men. That's because he is a fine ( and I mean that in more ways than one ) actor.

  • its the girl from titanic!

  • OH MY GOSH.

Matthew Macfadyen in Pride & Prejudice reminded me of Professor Snape and WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT! He's in this! XD

  • I love this movie....from start to finish

  • i lovee this movie so much ^^

  • I just adore this film!

  • I thought this movie was gonna be a boring chick flick when my Mom rented it. But it totally captured my mind. Definately worth renting

  • I wish I could see this movie for the first time again! =) It is awesome! Love it!

  • I LOVE Hugh Grant *_*

  • @therubysinger well, both are brilliant, but if you're after a PERSONAL opinion, then I'd say 1995. Alan Rickman and Emma Thompson just make it better for me :)

  • There is something very American about this movie, maybe is closer to the book, i dont know, i like the BBC serie though.

  • Just finished the book for the second time, I didn't know there was a movie. I don't think they did a good job tho. Pride and prejudice was much better related to the book.

  • is this like pride and predujice?

  • I've had this movie posted here for months and now it's been deleted. :'O What a disappointment!!

  • "You are right" lol

  • Watching this trailer almost destroys the resplendent fancies I have on both Elinor and Marianne - for both whom, to my knowledge are 17 and 19 respectively. And for those who actually read the book, the depiction of both characters are monstrously horrendous. Both should appear, if none to much, not at least past twenties. But on this one, they looked like already married women. And even worse for the 2008 movie as none seem pleasantly beautiful as described by Miss Austen in the book.

  • Emma Thompson is soo beautiful here!

  • I love Eleanor she's my favorite of the two sister.

  • Just seeing the trailer makes me want to pop in the DVD......they did their job well!!

  • LOVE this Movie só MUCH !

    ALL-time FAVOURITE !!!

  • I love this movie, it's one of my favourites :)

  • Emma Thompson is such a good actress. I absolutely loved her in this movie.

  • I enjoyed both, movie and book :)

  • Im sure this has been mentioned but the music is from Little Women and the trailer of Pride & Prejudice for a little bit... is this a well known piece from a composer? It is very uplifting.

  • Whew, the recycling of music. Dragonheart and Little Women get used a lot! And of course...mmmmm, Greg and Alan XD

  • ah! alan rickman makes my heart melt in this movie! <3

  • is it wrong to just want alan rickman's hat?

  • indeed, different of sorts from the book - nevertheless the main and important issues/events are brought up, but it's brilliant.

Also, Kate Winslet! Loved her. She was do hilarious and heartbreaking in this film.

  • Aaaalaaan *_* xD

  • ♥Alan Rickman♥ :)))

  • a epic film.......

  • did this trailer use Little Women's original score?

  • @yuri441

yes...it's used in the 1996 trailer for Emma as well.

  • @yuri441

Seems to be some lines I'm not familiar with too, so either that's the US version (it does happen) or came from elsewhere...

  • Alan is perfect in this movie!!!!

  • Alan Rickman is wonderful!!! I love him soooo much!! He is perfect in this movie.

  • and then alan rickman shows up and i'm like professor snape!!! sorry i had to :D

  • alan rickman heehee and that little lady that's the landlady's friend that never stops talking with the brown hair, they're both from hp 5 :D anyway i just saw this movie and i really like it :D

  • LOL Emma Thompson and Hugh Grant are brothers and sisters in Love Actually

  • Yay for Alan Rickman!

  • This is my favorite movie of all time. Colonel Brandon (Alan Rickman) is absolutely AMAZING!!!!! Willoughby is a jerk, and I don't even like Edward that much. Colonel Brandon, however, is perfect. ^^

  • is it kate winslet?

  • YES! Her first major film (after Heavenly Creatures, that is)

  • This movie is so great.

  • i actually loved Willoughby before it turned out he was a prick, :(

  • Hillary Clinton is the eldest of three and has two YOUNGER brothers. I think this is the reason why she is so powerful. We need more Hillarys and (Meryl Streeps, who is of the same birth order) don't you think? So if your first child happens to be a girl, and your second child a boy, then have a third child. Hopefully he is a boy.

  • ach...Alan Rickman

I love him and his movies..

    i`m sorry for my bad english...i'm german = P

  • hes better in "Die Hard"

  • @USMC2nd he only had one german line in Die Hard

  • @NightwishAmaranth14 Sie sind Deutscher(in)? Woher kommen Sie?

  • @NightwishAmaranth14 your english isn't really all that bad. :D

  • @NightwishAmaranth14 WTF LOOOOL

  • In this trailer we see not enough Alan Rickman.....but the movie is adorable.

  • this movie would be quite boring for people who don't appreciate classics. but if you really pay attention to the story, it is full and sensible. it touched the depth of human emotions. it was also able to show the distinct mindset and culture of the past.

  • The movie that showed me the writings of Jane Austen. Emma Thompson truly deserved her oscar for scriptwriting. She did a spectacular job in not retransposing the book word for word, but its spirit and its good dose of humour.

  • 0:10 cracks me up every time

  • Does anyone know what the music playing over the trailer is from or if it's from the score, which title it is?

  • @something0anything

    It's from Little Women 1994

  • from Little Women 1994

  • from Little Women 1994

  • hach.. Alan Rickman....

but it is very crzy, if you watch the other movies of him, like Sweeney Todd or Harry Potter. He is most time the bad guy, but here he is a kind of gentleman

i´m sorry for my bad english, i´m german

  • Alan Rickman <3

  • this is so grat i love this movie

  • I have only seen pride and prejudice so far. is this movie better than Pride '? i adooorreeeee Pride' so i was wandering what your people thought of this movie ... ?

  • iloilaetlolo

This was Jane Austen's first book published , Elinor dashwood represent sense, reason and discretion, while her sister Marianne represent sensibility, passion and spontaneity. Very beautiful novel, full of passion !!!!!!!!! but in my opinion , Pride and pregiudice is the very best, because it transport me and make me feel if I was part of the caracters.

  • I've read " Sense and Sensebility" in all it's entirety and didn't find it at all interesting nor amusing, but rather meaninglessly boring and ridiculous. Two beautiful sisters gets jilted by two avaricious men and falls into deep consternation, praying for reconciliation. Wop Woo! some great read...lol.

Comparatively, the characters weren't as likable and sensible as the ones in Pride and Prejudice. And I will hold true to these opinions til someone argue me a good one!

  • it's called satire. I did my satirical study on Jane Austen and she uses the characters in her book to satirize everyday life in a way that has applied to generations both pre-dating her literature and the literature that has followed since. She is a highly celebrated author for her ability to take people and situations and make them apply to some aspect of everyone. She is one of the best female satirical writers and while...

  • ...Sense and Sensibility is not her best SATIRICAL work, it is still relevant in the way it contributes to society.

Hope I've changed your mind :)

  • that book was hilarious! I was literally laughing out loud

  • I own a book and a DVD copy...I find the movie and the book boh amusing and educational...

  • Sense and sensibility was Austen first published novel, Elinor Dashwwod represents sense, reason and discretion, while her sister Marianne represents sensibility, passion and spontaneity. Marianne enbodies some of the best and worst impulses of the eighteenth-century sensibility. In my opinion Pride and pergiudice is the one that meke me live the caracters.

  • Believe me.... Sense and Sensibility is so better..... The best movie ever!
