By not supporting the call for an election, the whole of Thai society has foolishly missed their chance to maintain peace in their country. Now they are likely to face a civil war.

As for the Red Shirts they are only asking for a new election. Note: not even a free election, as elections are a total farce where only the candidates effectively approved by the regime can participate (the other ones being in jail, or dead) - just a new 'election'. I really have no idea how they could possibly be more moderate in their demands.

I just heard a terrible story from a women who escaped death after the red shirts surrendered. According to her the Thai army shot everyone in her bus while they were "escorted out of town". She lost her 2 children and nearly died herself.
but hey, such events dont show up in the media because the thai government controls it and there are almost no survivors of these events.

The blood of the victims are on his hands, the hands of his ministers and the head of the Thai army. By not supporting the call for an election, the whole of Thai society has foolishly missed their chance to maintain peace in their country. Now they are likely to face a civil war.

Thai society should have supported their original peaceful call for an election which was democratic instead of allowing the illegitimate government of Abhisit to undemocratically cling on to power. Now the red shirts will definitely fight on.
