Martial arts are all about economy. Finish an opponent quickly...that's FINISH an opponent. Competition and the training for it is totally different. Rules are applied for safety. Just because someone is an MMA superstar (YAWN) doesn't mean he or she is not going to succumb to a single throat strike. Just look at 1:27, both guys are standing there with their hands all the way down. The one thing you need to keep guarded is your head, you can take punches and kicks everywhere else, but one good strike to the head and its lights out.
